I finally have furniture for my craft room so I did the thing where I was like I'M GOING TO CLEAN AND ORGANIZE. So, I pulled a bunch of shit out, then I was like oh no this is overwhelming I'm going to stop. My job here is done. Closes door.

But also I'm a pack rat and I found a bunch of unused Lisa Frank stationary and stickers and stuff from my childhood so I guess that's neat.

does anyone use astrology stuff for character things? sometimes if i'm stuck on personality whilst writing an app, i try to think about various placements (particularly sun/moon). it's helpful?

irl i find astrology interesting but am not quite a believer
mostly i'm just obsessed w hearing things "about myself" so i guess it's on par w taking a personality quiz

anyway, i usually pick my characters' birthdays by looking at the bday cal and seeing where the gaps are. one exception: i made ulysses a cancer on purpose bc that's said baby sister's sign and also kind of as a drag on him.

Clem is ESFP (The Entertainer). Energetic, sociable, enthusiastic. Conflict-adverse, prone to boredom, shortsighted. "The biggest challenge Entertainers face is that they are often so focused on immediate pleasures that they neglect the duties and responsibilities that make those luxuries possible. Complex analysis, repetitive tasks, and matching statistics to real consequences are not easy activities for Entertainers."

Reece is INFJ (The Advocate). Creative, passionate, altruistic. Sensitive, private, can burn out easily. "Advocates indeed share a unique combination of traits: though soft-spoken, they have very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in. "Educational" Game Recs?

I'm gonna pick the collective game brain here.

My brother is looking for video game recommendations that aren't straight up ~educational~ games, but are more productive usages of time than, oh, shooting up dudes all day in Call of Duty. Games that involve elements of problem-solving, physics, coding, etc. (If anyone knows of a game to enjoyably teach children vlookups, he's interested in that??? lmao) Doesn't necessarily need to be a straight-up game for things like coding/design/what not. Basically, they're accepting they have a kid (age 12) who really enjoys being in front of his screen so they want to shift his library into something that will build his skill set beyond button mashing.

Any recommendations are super appreciated! ♥

Crusader Kings is almost Spreadsheets: the Game 😎
Garry's Mod is just kind of a physics sandbox that you can build computers in.
The Portal games are all physics puzzle games. Mirror's Edge is pushing it, but is also a low combat problem solve-y game.
Tactical games like FTL are a little more thinky than CoD.
Planet Coaster allows you to get extremely fiddley with the fine details of physics/numbers while building custom coasters and is all around just a fantastic successor to Rollercoaster Tycoon.
Something like RPG Maker, where he can make his own game?
Also there's like Minecraft or whatever it's got circuits/wiring. once my bf made a music box that played such great heights while you rode on a minecart it was very romantic

ok well most of my podcasts are about video games or dogs so not those.

mystery... i'm sure i've watched a bunch but all that's coming to mind is british murder mysteries? i liked foyle's war a lot for the first few seasons. i love inspector lewis.

i'm watching the second season of life in pieces right now and it's NOT a mystery but i love it. it's a sitcom where each episode is 4 5-minute short stories of different parts of their family? that + the fact that the rec started with my mother-in-law made me go "ummm" but then my brother-in-law (whose recs i will ALWAYS listen to) said he was hooked, so i tried. and i watched s1 in like 2 days. it's very funny.

Slowness until about the new year

Hey guys!! Work has been insane/I'm trying to finish a major project by the end of the year, and that coupled with general holiday business means I'm going to be slower and more braindead than ever! Ideally in the new year I can go back to normalish hours at work and have more mental energy, buuuut as it stands now I'm probably going to be a little pokey until the end of the year. I'm still going to be able to keep up with things in general, but I'm going to focus on the things I think are the most impactful and I might accidentally drop stuff sooner or miss junk, especially in journal comments! So... for the last what feels like two months I've been babysitting my sister's kids for twelve hours a day five days a week. But today my father is opening a restaurant, an honest to God fucking pizzeria. Which means my sister's schedule (she's enlisted as basically his head manager at this place since she's been working for him for the last decade and she's the only one he trusts to get shit done) will temporarily go from twelve hours a day to possibly open to close, which is closer to eighteen hours a day until their restaurant stabilizes a bit. Idk how long that'll be so I'm going on a bit of a slowatus for the next two weeks.

(I'm still going to email you a gdoc for Olivia and Riley tho Alex. I meant to do it yesterday but my sister's boyfriend got yesterday off so I accidentally took a nap for the entire day)

So what this slowatus means is that I'm probably gonna have super inconsistent activity and won't be able to check the game daily kids are mentally exhausting and I have no idea why the human race hasn't died out yet Bc holy shit So I'll try to stay on top of major plot points like quidditch and shinny but I might miss journals especially if the journals hit 100+ comments. But you can still email me if I miss anything that needs my attention of course

but apparently it must be PERFECT and she's insisting on all these small details and a list of resources and talk abt scope and a mini literature review or whatever

i had a dream about a senior/sophomore bonding activity that was a trust exercise. the sophomores were given flame throwers and told to torch one of their paired seniors while another senior doused them with water to put out the flame. the group left most unscathed won free, unrestricted internet and ennis was really gung-ho about being set on fire.

So I got bored last night when I was up stupid late and thought it would be hilarious to face morph whole cabins together (how ELSE are you truly going to know which cabin is the hottest). So I did all the cabins I'm in.
