iirc this is an example of a phonemic merger like pin-pen or caught-cot

for me, "our" read on its own is pronounced more similarly to "hour*;" conversely, when 'our' is used in a phrase ("this is our town"), it's pronounced more like "are"

* in northern ireland, this merger is totally complete and "hour" and "are" are pronounced the same

i saw this jacket 3 months ago and all i've thought since is about how fucking bad i want it?????? BUT i don't even know 5% enough of what i feel like i should know about wrestling to wear it without feeling like a phoney. i can't wear things without feeling like i've Earned Them, i get all awful and anxious like someone's going to call me out and i hate it.

like i found this awesome GOAT hat recently but i didn't buy it because i was like "i'm not into hip hop enough i don't want to be called out please don't look at me you might look at me like you disapprove"

Side note about Ireland, my Irish coworker said whenever he was spelling stuff on the phone to American's he'd just think 'They're all pirates' so he'd pronounce 'R' correctly
