Hitchcock famously described the difference between surprise and suspense. Say we're having an ordinary conversation and then a bomb explodes. That's surprising, but before that, the scene was rather uninteresting. Alternatively, you could show the audience the bomb being planted and that it's on a timer. Now the ordinary conversation is LOADED because we are participants; we want to tell the characters to get out of there! This is suspense. Hitchcock was an advocate for suspense.

Anyway, I'm in a library right now and I look over and see a semi-familiar sight: a man taking a nap. But then I notice what is on the ground next to him.

THIS. IS. SUSPENSEFUL.

hi world! i have a busy work week topped off with a knitting retreat fri-sun (at an alpaca farm! we've been promised the alpacas will actually be there this time!! i'll post photos!!!) plus awesome shit as soon as i get back (wrestling!!! curling!!!! tl;dr an AWESOME WEEKEND and yes you needed all of those details because i'm super excited for all of it).

as a result, my availability for random posts and stuff is going to be low (x8, in the style of shawty) and i won't be tracking as fervently as i usually do. i DO plan to aggressively backtag camping because this past weekend got unexpectedly busy but don't feel like you need to reciprocate if you're not up to the task! & i'll be around for the dance but my tag timing might be unpredictable. i'm sorry. :x at least the cabin has wifi~
