aleena's intro (sup aquarius sun/capricorn moon!) made me wonder how many people here are into astrology things? i feel like this has possibly been discussed before several ooc posts in the past, so srry if it's been done to death. :u

does anyone use astrology stuff for character things? sometimes if i'm stuck on personality whilst writing an app, i try to think about various placements (particularly sun/moon). it's helpful?

irl i find astrology interesting but am not quite a believer
mostly i'm just obsessed w hearing things "about myself" so i guess it's on par w taking a personality quiz

when jj and i were 12ish we found a book from the 70s that gave sex advice based on your astrological sign and a part of me thinks that's all i ever want to know? the picture it painted for me was............. exquisite lmfao

anyway, i usually pick my characters' birthdays by looking at the bday cal and seeing where the gaps are. one exception: i made ulysses a cancer on purpose bc that's said baby sister's sign and also kind of as a drag on him.

SO YEAH. I KNOW NOTHING. but i always join in on these discussions despite being a massive ignoramus because i'm also, more importantly, a massive narcissist and i love personality tests. me!!!! it's me!!!!!! tell me about me!!!!!!!

this book really stuck with me it had ILLUSTRATIONS like "the leo man.............. he's groovy" and then there was a cartoon of a suave looking dipshit with bellbottoms on making cow eyes at the gemini woman or smthng

when i found it i thought it was super scandalous bc it used the word "lover" a lot. also, i was going to google zodiac sex advice just now, but i'm too scared.

i love astrology and i try to have at least one fire/water/earth/air sign in my roster. unfortunately i FAILED and ended up with one fire, two airs and two earths, but Ruby's personality went through a ton of iterations and i eventually realized none of the water signs fit her :|a

preplanning character moon signs is hard; like cam i'd rather grab a birthday that's not too close to anyone else's birthday. but now i am tempted to look up what all of my characters' moon signs are haha. when i was younger i had a book of sun/moon combinations that i liked to read for character personality ideas but noooow i just wing it

that said i am a gemini sun/aries moon/taurus rising sooooo i guess that explains the lack of water signs in my roster :(

i'm sure ive already asked this but what is a moon sign and how is it supposed to ............. affect you. should i go back and pick character moons. are water signs bad.

moon sign is determined by exactly where and what time you were born, since it's measuring what sign the actual moon was in when you were born. i think the moon changes signs every two days or so. this is EXTREMELY SIMPLIFIED but if your sun sign is your outward personality, then your moon sign is your inner emotions.

so for you, your gemini moon means that you're a lot more talky than scorpios normally are. also..... charming and superficial.

AND NO I LOVE WATER SIGNS i actually love writing Cancers/Scorpios/Pisces...es but it just kind of worked out that i don't have any now :( Ravi was my Pisces and he's dead

It's something I do inconsistently. I usually actually pick birthdays after I get an idea of what the character is like, and go for a sun sign that matches up. I purposefully picked Capricorn for Lucas (he is so Capricorn), Aries for Dimi and Cancer for Nisha, for example, but the others were just "I want the birthday to be this day" or "Here's a gap in birthdays." I generally don't think about the moon sign, though.

I think it's a handy tool for character building and am very into overdoing theme on a character.

I am a Capricorn Sun, Pisces Moon, Aries Ascendant. And...yeah. I mean. I don't believe in it but sometimes the write ups make me lol.

i don't believe in it either but growing up in sailor moon rp made me care WAY TOO MUCH about the zodiac in character creation

Like a lot of other people I sort of use astrology in picking birthdays, but my most recent kids were literally just: where is there a space. So.. yeah. I like it sometimes for fun with characters since arguably some fit so well!

I read astrology stuff sometimes just for fun, and also last time I was at a record store they had a million astrology records??? So I bought mine and it's pretty much the most hilarious thing I've ever listened to because it's got weird music and really ridiculous ways of phrasing things.

I just learned that ascendant signs are a thing?? I'm Leo sun/Sagittarius moon/Pisces rising, apparently.

I am trying to get more into it because it's FUN and a really cool way to be reflective about yourself!

I used to hate my sign because I was like "WHAT THE FUCK IS AN AQUARIUS??" but once I started looking deeper into ascendents and moons and all that jazz things got like ... creepily scarily accurate, so that's cool!

I usually start with a very rough sketch of what I want and then use star charts to help me find the right words to explain complicated contradictory elements (like how Lilika can be very magnetic and vivacious and fun loving and at the same time super pessimistic and cautious and cagey). I will manipulate their time of birth until I get what I want haha

ESPECIALLY with characters I know but a lot of stock in astrology. I was super specific about Lilika's birthplace and time even though I knew it would mean giving her a birthday super close to joining the game :(((

i think it's fun for RP and i choose my characters' birthdays around the star sign i want for them. i get too nitpicky about that detail and it bothers me more than it should if i can't make them match their starsign. i wanted ennis to be a pisces but i made him a cancer because there were too many march birthdays when i apped him and i have had to live with the regret of my decision ever since!(!!!)

i used to be really into picking the perfect numerology and moon/rising signs for my character but now i'm old and that's too much work.

i don't personally believe in astrology because i think every reading is at least somewhat relatable to everyone? i'll read another sign's astrology and be like "WOW THAT'S SO ME" even though it's for libra or whatever.
