Micah St. Clair

Name: Micah Vincent St. Clair

What do they look for in a person?: Micah claims to be into everybody, and he is pretty open to the possibility of attraction to almost anyone. But he strongly gravitates to people who are his opposite in personality. More practical, more restrained, runs cold rather than hot. He finds that personality type challenging (and therefore attractive), and we're really cooking with gas if they've got a sharp sense of humour that keeps him on his toes. He's joked before that rejection is one of his turn-ons, which was honestly a joke, but Micah does need someone who won't let him get away with everything. He's always trying to push his luck with people, so it's good when Micah's matched with someone who's down to earth and won't let themselves get stepped on.

What do they find romantic?: Words. Talking. Verbal sparring, even. Micah's pretentious enough to want to disdain "traditional" romance, i.e. flowers, chocolates, candlelit dinners, etc., but he's still a teenage boy who can get worked up by not having a date to the dance. Micah's a romantic insofar as he really likes the idea of being in love (the universal trope, according to movies), but things and doing things is less important to him than just the knowledge that he has someone who'll listen to him and take him seriously (even when Micah's not acting serious), and the ability to do the same for someone else.

Who do they have a crush on?: Micah's had a very public crush on Calvin since freshman year, so them dating now is just a terrible development. Everyone in junior year has had to suffer at least one (1) conversation where Micah tells them about his ~~boyfriend~~. More if you are friends with both of them, or had to work in Micah's play, or are blatantly disinterested in hearing about Micah's love life.

Are they seeing someone right now?: AUGH THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT QUESTIONS... Micah's over the moon about Calvin, obviously. He has some of the normal anxieties but Micah's "all the fuck in" attitude means most of it doesn't emotionally register and won't until the mimic event. They were close friends before now, and really their relationship hasn't changed a whole lot except that now Micah gets rewarded for his obnoxious flirting. He's a bit too delighted that Calvin's parents think he's weird and not good enough for their perfect son, but Micah's also too confident that he can win them over eventually. I think Micah's even recently told Calvin about his brother but I need to... finish that log oops.

What are they like in a relationship?: The mean answer is "no different than how Micah acts with everyone else," but uh. He's publicly flirty, yeah, and likes to tease and make a lot of irreverent jokes, but he'll also show more of his quiet side. He struggles with emotional honesty and vulnerability even with his closest friends (e.g. the chickabros), and while it's not really any easier to achieve that with an S.O., he makes more of an effort for it. Micah thinks of (romantic) love as being intimately understood by someone else, so that's the ideal he's working towards even if he struggles with it. Micah enjoys the moments when he can just sit with someone and not feel like he has to do anything. He wants to feel like he can be his ""true self"" with someone, and they feel the same with him. As a boyfriend, Micah's a little difficult, insofar as he's easily distracted and insists on a lot of independence (he has a ton of friends and projects to lavish attention on). But he tries his best to be reliable, especially so since his last relationship crashed and burned because Micah was so unreliable. It's something he's very conscious of. Oh yeah, and there's a lot of horror movie marathons, which is unfortunate for Calvin "I Hate Scary Movies" Evercreech.

What do they look for in a person?:
Sensitive boys need not apply. Rosy likes a guy with too much unearned confidence. Enough that she can constantly insult him and he's still more sure of himself than should be allowed.

Also... kind of shitheads. Terrible boys. Ones that won't listen to her when she tries to push them around and make them behave, because as much as she likes being in charge, it's nice having an actual challenge. And honestly? She likes being able to let her garbage side show and not feel like the actual worst, so nice boys in general also need not apply.

An ideal boy would also understand her jokes and talk shit about people with her when she's feeling grumpy but, like, the fact that this is a third tier requirement really shows how terrible Rosy's priorities are. Lord, someone help my baby girl love herself.

What do they find romantic?: Just, like... showing that you actually thought of her for a second? Like, thought of her and not just "oh hey what's a thing a girlfriend wants." Dropping a stack of presents on her is just going to get awkward and embarrassing, and Rosy doesn't lack for material goods, but being like, "Hey I noticed you were running low on pens so I picked up your favorite brand" would make her blush probably.

Who do they have a crush on?: You're all safe, Rosy's still in a weird place after her breakup and hasn't even been looking.

Are they seeing someone right now?: No. She broke up with her graduate boyfriend in November and has been weird and quiet about it since. But hey, she's made out with Casey and a doppelganger in the last month so she's killin' it right now.

What are they like in a relationship?: Rosy wants to take care of people and wants to protect and do things for her significant other, but she's a tough nut to crack herself. Getting her to actually open up and trust anyone is a slow process, and you gotta call her on her shit or she'll just keep those walls up. She's not great at communicating, and being in a long distance relationship allowed her to stop even trying and withdraw. Also, beware, if things get too hard and she doesn't know how to handle it without opening herself up and being vulnerable, there is a very strong chance Rosy will just set fire to the whole thing and walk the fuck away.

Name: Noel FT
What do they look for in a person?: Physically, Noel's ideal woman is tall and with some meat on her, though just tall or just plump will do. For men, he's not really as certain because he doesn't often think of them in a romantic way and boys at Hogwarts weren't really as forward with their feelings as they are at Gooseberry.
Personality-wise, he likes people who are kind and, ideally, can cook. Someone who is responsible and can look after him and keep him on track is 👌👌👌

With that being said, he has incredibly low standards and a high desperation to be loved and wanted and he can potentially fall for anyone who expresses serious romantic interest in him as opposed to just wanting to hook up. He makes it a personal rule to not do hook ups because of how easily he falls for people. After kissing Lilika at New Years, he was convinced he was in love, and he was ambivalent about Miguel until the other boy kissed him at the Grotto party.

What do they find romantic?: Noel grew up on stories his fathers used to tell of each other's war heroics and the bravery and selflessness of his birth family. As a result, he has some unhealthy and unrealistic views on romance that idealize chivalry, bravery, and self-sacrifice.

Dates need to be engaging because he gets bored and distracted easily. Library dates are out of the question unless the intention is to snog behind some bookshelves.

Who do they have a crush on?: Lilika. He's moved on from Miguel after Quentin confirmed his interest in him. I think he also has some very, very mild romantic feelings toward his roommate Nagisa, built on the expectation that they could be the next Deamus and not because there's any true physical attraction there.

Are they seeing someone right now?: Nope!

What are they like in a relationship?: Clingy, but not possessive. Most relationships haven't lasted for very long because the girl quickly felt smothered. Ones that have lasted more than a few months were based on mutual obsession and clinginess and burned bright and fiercely until eventually burning out and ending in devastating (to him) heartbreak.
He's surprisingly high maintenance but with low standards and he's happy as long as he's getting a lot of attention and emotional intimacy. There's very little personal space and he's constantly reaching for a hand to hold. People joked that he and his last girlfriend were siamese twins because they were attached at the hip.
Noel doesn't handle confrontation well and gets his feelings hurt easily if he thinks they're even just a little bit mad at him because he can't stand the thought of them not loving him anymore. He's not likely to snap back and usually just looks like a kicked puppy.

What do they look for in a person?: Calvin likes eccentrics. More than anything else, he likes people who have a lot of personality, and who are somehow unique. Since he's so restrained, he likes a free spirit, and is entertained by their antics and exciting world view. He's also very interested by artists, and isn't turned off by a little artistic pretentiousness. He eats it up when a handsome boy tells him about what their art means, about their craft, etc. He also likes being pushed, since Calvin on his own can be very unyielding. When the other person handles most of the forward movement, it's easier for him to figure out his boundaries. He's better at saying 'no' than asking for what he wants. He also needs someone with thick skin, who won't take him too seriously when he's acting like he hates everything, or when he's too blunt and abrasive. Aaaand he does tend to like boys who are either softer or more charming than he is.

What do they find romantic?: Witty conversation, entertaining banter, teasing. Lots of teasing. Teasing verging on bullying. Calvin's not always super nice to guys he's attracted to. He CAN be, but he's never been interested in a boy he didn't first act inappropriately mean towards. But when all's said and done, Calvin likes a very cerebral romance, so he's less about dates and romantic gestures and more focused on companionship. He's also a liiiittle clingier than he lets on, and likes to feel as though he's "taking care of" his dates. He thinks a fair amount of doting is very romantic.

Who do they have a crush on?: He's been developing a thing for Micah for a long time now, starting with late Y1 when he was a mess and Micah was kind to him and took him to anti-anti-Prom. He din't plan on it going anywhere, but... it did!

Are they seeing someone right now?: He's currently dating Micah St. Clair, who he's had many different feelings for since they met, and not all of them were positive. Calvin's hard to get really close to because he's so sensitive and angry, but Micah went through the gauntlet and came out with a boyfriend. Calvin's having a great time with Micah, but the rumors that they're not going to last make him huffy. Calvin and Micah are a good team, but also very stubborn and contrary. If anyone goes after them to correct them on a bad idea, they're just going to double down and keep reinforcing one another's position. Calvin's struggling a little with physical and emotional intimacy, but he's... inching... towards... dealing with that.

What are they like in a relationship?: Doting, dedicated, supportive... harsh critic. Calvin's a loving and patient boyfriend who would go to the moon and back for someone. If you don't stop him, he'll bend over backwards to please you, and will become your mother. However, he's still abrasive, and tends to be a critical nag. Sometimes it's sincere, sometimes it's just because he likes baiting people into paying attention to him. For instance, he and Micah like to play a dumb game where Micah acts like an outrageous idiot, and Calvin pretends to be so!!! angry!!! But neither of them are being overly sincere.

Anything else?: Calvin likes being in a relationship, and no matter how much he blusters, seeks out a new boyfriend whenever he's single. He's also broken up with two different guys by leaving the country.

What do they look for in a person?: Dia has no type when it comes to general personality or physical looks. She's all over the place, she finds lots of things attractive and unattractive but there are certainly things she's drawn to more than others. For instance, any ability to move - whether it be dance or running or whatever, having a steady and good control over your limbs and body in general is attractive. Dancers get ++ infinity bonus points. Family oriented people also get bonus points. Dia has a large family, and family obligations and ties are very important to her. People who can't stand their family or hate them is unfathomable to her, even if there are disagreements or pressures. She can't relate to people who don't respect their parents unconditionally. Also, anyone who appreciates her cooking is immediately attractive. She looks for kindness, respect, and a good sense of fun. Loud personalities are just as attractive as quiet personalities if they are kind, respectful, eat a lot of food, and can dance.

What do they find romantic?: Old fashioned, for sure. You made her dinner, even if it tastes awful? She's going to go starry-eyed. You pull her out onto the dance floor in a super dramatic and very 80s dance movie type fashion? Someone help, her heart's melting! Concordia has a very traditional sense of what's romance. She loves gifts, flowers on Valentine's day. It's not about what you spent but the thought behind it. An attempt at planning something awesome that goes horribly awry? She's still happy, it's romantic and she'll appreciate it. A mid-week hand-written note saying I love you? I care about you? I'm thinking about you? Perfection. Dia wants to be appreciated, she wants to be thought about. She doesn't want to have to wonder or guess that you care about her because you tell her. There's no need for extravagant gifts or big showings of love, just acknowledgement. It's the most traditional view of romance and love you can get, but it's all she needs.

Who do they have a crush on?: In no particular order; Noel, because who doesn't have a crush on him at this point? But also because he picked up that dance really fast and she has a thing for people she dances with #notsorry? Tobias, because she thinks he's really kind and super hot. Everyone on Coppertale's Cheer squad because she's seen them all dance and it's hot. Ruby, because damn girl?? She's terrified of her but that's also kind of hot. Phin, because he is extremely appreciative of her cooking and dances with her sometimes for Zumba when she drags him to the dance room.

What are they like in a relationship?: Like a 1950's housewife. But with more sass and free energy. She's probably very doting, loving, and conscientious of the other person. Besides, Dia likes to be the best. She likes to appear as if she's perfect, so she likely even when she is upset or thinks she is right - particularly in a relationship - would idolize the happy couple thing more than her love of being right and would swallow her pride and bend over backwards for whoever she is with. Secretly, that would get old fast and she likely would not be able to stay with someone who consistently did not treat her well because that is not love and not romantic, but in a good relationship she'd be very willing to compromise, and even let things go she might not want to for the good of the relationship as long as the other person was just as willing.

What do they look for in a person?: Wilde continues to have a type. If you're bookish, know things, and especially are confident that you know things, those are all pluses. He's drawn to people who are sure of themselves, work for what they want, and aren't afraid of anyone -- people who are powerful, and possibly more powerful than he is. On the flip side, though, if you're someone he can stand to be around for a while and not have to run away from to recharge, that's Very Cool. If you listen to him and make him feel like he's being heard, Very Good. Fun conversation or interesting banter, A+, but also -- does he trust your opinion? Basically, are you worth the amount of space you'll inevitably occupy in his head? ... Sid has to like you too, obviously.

What do they find romantic?: Wilde has a romantic soul, more so than he probably lets on to people he's not involved with on some level. He dotes on crushes. Love is suffering, bad poetry, and staring at ceilings. But it's also all in the gesture. Any indication that Wilde's been on a person's mind, that they remember things about him, or that they spent any time at all putting thought into what he needs or does is romantic to him. He wants people's time. He likes small intimacies, like sharing, listening to music together, reading the same book over someone's shoulder, etc.

Who do they have a crush on?: Wilde's very into Saira! ♥ It's ... a lot.

Are they seeing someone right now?: See abooooove. It has its complications, but it's going. Wilde genuinely thinks Saira can do anything -- she's like a hero to him, kind of, and he's happy just to be in her orbit. He has his own insecurities and stupid shit to work through as an individual, as usual, but he strives to keep his various angst from affecting their relationship despite the fact that he would trust Saira with his life and she's the first person he thinks of to talk to about... practically anything. He worries that their relationship might be doomed, or at least that he's doomed because obviously he'll never get over her if things don't work out, not ever, but he doesn't care.

What are they like in a relationship?: Uhhh! Wilde's sort of... simultaneously intense and laidback. He has a lot of capital letter Feelings about Saira, and he's always been the kind to put a lot of thought and performance into dating someone, but I don't think he's particularly clingy or anything. At least, not when it comes to her (he might have been a bit more HEY LOVE ME LOOK HOW COOL I AM with past girlfriends). Wilde likes to see whoever he's with succeed and hang around to support them, but he also likes prodding and pushing his luck. He enjoys banter and games, but is massively loyal. He shows that he cares through action rather than words, though he fills a journal with unsent letters and embarrassing poems. He tends to put people on pedestals without meaning to, realize he's doing it, and then never bother stopping. Being with Saira has taught him a lot about considering someone else's needs before his own and being less Performative and more open, though he still likes to show off for her (even if she side-eyes this more often than not, or maybe because she side-eyes it??).

What do they look for in a person?: I don't know and neither does he. Archie's attraction to other people is so tangled up in his strange world view and practices that he's kind of lost track of what he actually wants. I'm not even certain what his sexuality is, and I keep waffling on it. He knows with some certainty that he dislikes aggression, mostly because he's so deeply conflict-averse. He assumes that anyone who's kind of punchy might end up yelling at him if he does something wrong. But he's drawn to people who are bright, interesting, and don't mind his oddness or lack of compassion.

What do they find romantic?: Knowing absolutely everything about someone, including their health and prospects of dying young or losing interest in him. Archie finds a complete lack of risk romantic, which is... not actually romantic.

Who do they have a crush on?: Well, Archie will potentially crush on anyone, but he does have some more sincere attraction to classmates like Hero, Pandora, Tally, Miguel, Nisha, etc. But it's hard to say if his interest actually romantic, and any time he thinks it might be he freaks out.

Are they seeing someone right now?: Haha no and if you can pin him down you deserve a prize.

What are they like in a relationship?: Archie has a lot of baggage. He's a pretty damaged kid, and dating him wouldn't be easy. He'd probably try to escape those incoming feelings, and it would take a truly patient and ambitious soul to make real romantic headway here. That said, he'd probably be fun, assuming you can handle some folie à deux intensity. Archie's playful and a bit of a scamp, so you wouldn't lack entertainment. He'd want to share secrets, and would probably become very insular with whoever he was dating. Archie's the kind of teenager who would easily fall into a pretty obsessive dating situation where a breakup would wreck him.

What do they look for in a person?: She'll give just about anyone the time of day, but for more than a bit of necking, Nia likes confidence, competence and fun. Intelligence and self-assuredness are huge turn ons for her. Nia's got kind of a weirdo sense of humor, and she is generally very into people who go along with her nonsense or seem to "get it." And probably more important than anything else is someone who she sees as an equal. A romantic relationship where she'd have to mother or nag her partner would be an absolute nightmare for her. And she's not huge on the idea of being protected, herself. And also, because she is garbage, she is super into attention and anyone who shows any hint of being into her?

What do they find romantic?: Little acts of physical affection. When someone speaks about their partner with obvious affection for some innocuous or obnoxious trait/habit. Drive-by signs of affection. Remembering something dumb the other person said like forever ago. Nia likes to make big gestures and lavish compliments on others, but she, herself, is a pretty cheap date.

Who do they have a crush on?: BIG CRUSH ON MISS ADDY.

Are they seeing someone right now?: Nia and Addy are somethingsomething and Nia is maybe getting around to putting a label on that perhaps or maybe she's like absolutely terrified of putting a label on it whatever she'll figure it out.

What are they like in a relationship?: Very silly and physically affectionate. She wants to HAVE FUN together, so expect her to suggest really zany ideas. She likes making big shows of things with gifts but she purposefully goes overboard because that's embarrassing and being embarrassing is hysterical. Probably a lot of teasing. When it comes to the actual emotional aspects of being in a relationship, this is kind of untread ground. She's better about being emotionally supportive, in general, this year, but she also likes to compartmentalize, and sharing feelings is going to be rocky. She really doesn't like getting caught being vulnerable.

What do they look for in a person?: Ahaha. Um. Pan has zero experience with dating. If it were possible to have negative experience, actually, that might be more accurate. I don't think she's ever stopped to think about what a good boyfriend/girlfriend would be like, or what would make her happy exactly, because neither of those things have been especially relevant to her life experience thus far. That said -- I think she's drawn to people who are fun, who are willing to play along with her ideas and oddness, and who are straightforward and not easily bothered or clingy. She also has a million small crushes on a lot of different people, though, so uh. Jury's out on this one, really.

What do they find romantic?: LOL. God, I have no idea. Again, there's no standard here. Pan would probably equally enjoy traditional gestures, like flowers or a cute note or something, and like... a pile of pinecones that reminded you of her, or a toy for Pumpkin.

Who do they have a crush on?: Pan... This child. She's like, an alien, but she's into everyone. So uh -- every sophomore Ebonhide boy and a couple of the juniors from afar, half her own roommates in various abstract ways that probably aren't actually crushes, the entire Azurcrest quidditch team, Quentin for liking her weirdness, most of her brother's friends to some degree, etc.

Are they seeing someone right now?: Hahaha

What are they like in a relationship?: Panda would be a sweet girlfriend on the days she remembered she was someone's girlfriend. She's married to her schoolwork and her pet interests of the moment, and probably isn't consistent or emotionally mature/available enough for a lot of people. That said, I could see a relationship becoming a pet interest -- I think she'd be capable of some very intense codependent weirdness with someone she really liked who gave her space to be herself, or especially someone who would get directly involved in her research wormholes and projects, since she'd probably have a tendency to experiment with them, too. Emotionally as well as physically, as absolutely uncomfortable as that is to type.

What do they look for in a person?: Someone fun and interesting who adds something positive to his life, basically. Phin's not very picky and he has low expectations as long as things aren't too complicated and still amuse him or feel good. Deep down, he probably needs someone who is less of an enabler and can help him be more stable, but he gravitates toward people that will join him on his various shenanigans.

What do they find romantic?: Uhhh. Phineas is far from romantic himself, at least in a traditional sense. He forgets birthdays, doesn't care for holiday surprises or grand gestures, etc. That said, he likes to play. He enjoys lighthearted teasing, flirting, extended games of language or banter, etc. Loyalty and friendship are important to him, in a Hufflepuff way. He may not be able to align himself with traditional platitudes, but he'll follow someone he really likes to the ends of the earth. He'll be your bff. Get matching tattoos. Punch your ex in the face. Who cares?

Who do they have a crush on?: Phin likes Sofia quite a bit. He also has mild crushes on anyone who's shown him positive attention along these lines, and still wonders about that mystery stranger at the Masquerade from time to time.

Are they seeing someone right now?: Yes-but-no? He hooks up with Sofia fairly regularly and it's probably common knowledge, but they aren't quite referring to eachother as boyfriend/girlfriend and don't appear as exclusive rn. Phin has some weird feelings about commitment and issues with anxiety that get in the way of being able to pull the trigger on the relationship, even if he does like Sofia and is willing to do a lot of things to keep her amused.

What are they like in a relationship?: I think Phin's actually a good boyfriend, if a bit inaccessible. He'll go on adventures for days, play, try to make you laugh, etc. Laidback, though he can be competitive and jealous if the situation arises. He doesn't mind being hung all over, PDA, or talking until four in the morning about stupid things. If you ask him for something, he'll provide to the best of his ability until he absolutely can't. He likes surprises and silly jokes. He's down for whatever!! He's just... not very predictable, a little careless with people's emotions, and frankly not always honest. 8 out of 10 times, Phin will choose the route that seems easiest rather than talk about something difficult. He dances around truths and will overlook things to keep it all fun and easy and positive. There's always a part of him that expects not to be accepted, even if he's very outwardly confident, and a part of him that has to stay completely private. He hates lying and can usually be counted on to be very honest, but he's also managed to keep a large portion of his life secret from everyone he knows and cares about for...ever. Anyway, yay Phin!! He's fun!!! Everything's fine!

What do they look for in a person?: An ability to keep their shirt tucked in and a complementary height and complexion are necessary for dance dates. Big personalities catch her attention, but it's the quieter ones that really rope her in. She's attracted to gentleness, compassion, and a general sense of goodness, which are all qualities she thinks she's sorely lacking in. What are they like in a relationship?: Ursula's high maintenance. I'm not gonna pretend otherwise, and that's definitely the main side of her that her previous boyfriends had to deal with. She came out the other end of Y1 as a far more emotionally supportive person and more comfortable in her own skin and that's comes through in her relationships, romantically and otherwise. She likes to be silly and play games and generally bask in teenaged romance. She's very physically affectionate in private, but public PDA is mostly just hand holding or cheek kisses.

But really, he tends to be attracted to people who are uninterested or unavailable. It takes the pressure and anxiety out of a relationship if they can never be in a relationship to begin with. That's why Jaime and Myrtle are/were so appealing and he's not really sure what he'd do if feelings had been reciprocated.

After his New Year New Me resolutions, he's trying to kick that habit. He likes people who are kind and have good hearts, and he's drawn to bolder personalities that are more likely to take charge in a relationship. While he's physically attracted to confident and sensual people like Casey and Sofia, those types of people also intimidate him and he's more comfortable admiring them from afar. He's never been romantically involved with anyone before so there would be a lot of guess work and awkward blunders, especially since he can't just Google things and he'd rely on the questionable romantic advice of various friends.

Introverts and extroverts alike, Isabelle has found she likes people who are a little over loud and excitable (like Jeffy and Todd) as well as those who may be quieter and more thoughtful, or at least a little more mellow (like Solo, Cole, or Teddy). If she were to be proposed to, she'd find it more romantic to be done in front of a crowd of people (as embarrassing as that is) than to be proposed to in a more intimate setting. Her lack of self-confidence makes her believe that no one could really like her, and if they did they'd never admit it to anyone - so the more public the gesture, the more romantic it is and the harder she'd fall for someone. She's not about the cost or expense of the gesture, but the visibility and the thought behind it. I think she's fairly easy on this front -- do homework with her, help her organize stuff, gossip with her, buy her cute things, do her makeup, hold her hand, etc. She'd very much be the type to expect traditional stuff from a girlfriend, aka what she'd refer to as a "bare minimum," but in her heart of hearts those things would matter less than just plain old time & care. His pace in relationships is glacial, but he does like physical affection. He certainly likes those sorts of people platonically, but if you want him to really crush on you, be prepared to put him back in his place. He also loves the idea of being the bad boy who leads a sweet soul astray.

What do they find romantic?: Excitement! Fun! Adventure! Spencer wants a whirlwind relationship, which includes a lot of classic ideas about romance. Maybe less flowers and dances, more sneaking out to your window at midnight, some light rule breaking. He likes being the person moving things forward, and he's confident enough that you can sit back and let Spencer make all the moves. That said, he also wants someone who's receptive and thinks he's fun, and demonstrates it. Spencer's really self-conscious and worries about being annoying, so demonstrating you find his ridiculousness entertaining goes a long way.

He's an erratic disaster and he likes it when someone knows how to think things through, because it makes him want to think things through. At least a little. He likes people with soft voices and strong convictions and people who make all of the jumble in his head go still and quiet and make sense.

What do they find romantic?: Bash's Concept of romance mostly comes from bad rom-coms? So he'd say that he guesses he finds that sort of thing romantic. It's the right answer. But he doesn't exactly find it practical. He isn't good at big gestures or careful planning. He'd maybe like to be he thinks, but he tends to open his mouth and run with whatever comes out of it. He's terrible at plans and surprises and secrets. And he doesn't much need them either. He's cool with just watching bad movies (even the rom-coms) and falling asleep on the floor and, y'know, maybe engaging in some casual trespassing.

Who do they have a crush on?: His ... boyfriend? (Is it still a crush when you're dating someone? What are the rules of this? Does it become a past-tense word? Does it evolve? Does Google know?) What are they like in a relationship?: Apparently, a gigantic fucking dork. He's anxious and eager and he wants the person he's dating to know how much he likes every little stupid thing about them. What do they look for in a person?: I'm not sure Gwen has a type. She spends her time getting to know individuals, and her friends really run the gamut. Few people would have thought her personality would mesh so well with Calvin enough that they are super close; she's equally happy spending time with the laid back Big Fish senior boys as she is with anyone more outgoing (or more quiet). However, she likes people who are both honest and straightforward, since she's not that great with subtlety or subtext. She prefers those who share their real opinions with her, and their likes and dislikes, instead of making her dig or pester (she won't do either). They also must be kind. She won't tolerate bullies or cruelty, and it gets her hackles up super fast if she has to call someone on it; but she recognizes the difference between being no-nonsense and being mean. As nice as she is herself, though, she isn't into 'projects' or people who need her to help or 'better' them in some way. She wants someone who knows who they are and is comfortable with that.

What do they find romantic?: Gwen likes connection more than anything. She doesn't much like 'traditional' romantic gestures, as they just embarrass her. She doesn't mind flowers but they seem very temporary to her; same with candy, other gifts. Are they seeing someone right now?: Noooooo. She's bollixed this all up.

What are they like in a relationship?: Not that she's ever really been in one, but Gwen tends to be independent and is not likely to be a spend-all-time together half of a couple. She knows full well there's no one who shares all of her interests, and frankly, she'd get irritated if someone was around her all the time. As a semi-introvert, she needs alone time to process being around others, and so she values both time together and time apart. She's very game to try the things her other half likes, although it may not become one of her interests. She values security in a relationship above all else; if she cannot trust the other person or she gets played with or lied to, the affection will cool very rapidly. She's not the jealous sort and doesn't care about her significant other teasing or flirting with other people but if they make her feel insecure in the process or that she's less important, it won't last.

Anything else?: I think, given the chance, she'd be pretty physically affectionate but she takes time to get there. She thankfully has no hang ups about herself.

Name: Clem Decourt
What do they look for in a person?: Clem's crushes have been few and far between because she's fairly discerning. She doesn't have a physical type; she's more after kindred spirits than looks. She likes people who have an intense quality to them, whether it's passion or energy or conviction. She doesn't like gentle, shy, or pushover personalities. She also needs people who aren't offended by her sometimes mean-spirited sense of humor for sure. She wouldn't be able to handle having to be careful with someone's ego.

What do they find romantic?: She's not super into sappy cliche shit. Or codependency. Or, surprisingly, drama. She finds most other people's gushy high school romances to be borderline intolerable. This has a lot to do with the fact that she's really uncomfortable expressing positive emotions. Excessive compliments and "I Love You"s didn't get bandied around in her family a lot while she was growing up. It's just not their style. Now she's most likely to respond to any kind of open affection, friendly or romantic, with an embarrassed aside of "gross, whatever", and she lets people know she cares about them by TALKING SHIT. lovingly. Recently she's been better about telling her friends she loves them and just being genuine and whatnot, and it's getting easier because she's actually comfortable in her relationship and with her friendships. She doesn't settle in easily thanks to her abandonment issues, but things are going well so far.

As for what she actually does find romantic... like... excitement! Adventure! Fun! Doing dumb shit together! She's here to have a good time, mostly. If a relationship isn't fun she's not sure what it's good for.

She is also surprisingly fond of the gifts Sy gets her. It's not so much about the things themselves as the the thought that goes into it. Like, she's always tickled when he gets her flowers, but this is more about the fact that he bothered to remember what kind of flowers she likes than anything else. Low bar? Maybe.

Who do they have a crush on?: boyfriendo

Are they seeing someone right now?: Yes, she's been dating Sy Stoker for ???over a year???. She has no idea how it happened either.

What are they like in a relationship?: Low-maintenance, which has been a godsend in her relationship with Sy. Her only pet peeve is feeling like he doesn't care about her or has forgotten about her (like when he didn't ask her to that one dance), but for the most part they're just on the same page now. If he's a jerk to her, she tells him to stop. If she needs to apologize to him, she does it. She's not really sure why things need to be more complicated than that.
