PLOT CALENDAR: November
Please note: each player is limited to one plot for the first 2 hours. (See HERE for what time that would be for you.) After that, the only limit is one plot per character. If a slot is not taken on the day of the event, you may ask to take it with your character, regardless of whether or not they already have a slot.
NOVEMBER
In the evening, Cassius Holcomb hears what sounds like a girl crying and coughing outside the Junior Boys' cabin, but they can't seem to find her.
Gooseberry will be participating in a traditional event this year: the National Wizarding Cotillion, to be held in New York City! Reactions to this news may be mixed, because what first sounds like a fancy and romantic ball soon begins to reshape itself into a series of classes on manners.
Gooseberry will be participating in a traditional event this year: the National Wizarding Cotillion, to be held in New York City! Reactions to this news may be mixed, because what first sounds like a fancy and romantic ball soon begins to reshape itself into a series of classes on manners.
- To take part, you must be part of a couple or a musician. See HERE for more details and to sign up.
That morning, Jade Otterwell and Calvin Evercreech both abruptly come down with pneumonia and miss their classes. Cole Moss goes to deliver one of them the homework they missed, and ends up getting sick as well for their trouble. They spend the night in the infirmary so that they don't infect anyone else while Mufferaw gets them back on their feet. Thanks to magical healing, they should be better sometime tomorrow.
The second official issue of the Guthrie Gazette is hot off the presses! Unfortunately, London Holloway made a teeny mistake when duplicating issues for distribution, and some of the official photos were replaced with ones from her... personal stash.
- On page three, there's a photograph of Austin McNamara suffering a particularly bad hair day.
- On page five, there's a picture of Natalie Prince rifling through Isabelle Sargent's book bag. What were they up to?
- And right on the cover page, a photo of the Azurcrest/Ribbonfin game occasionally flickers and morphs into a close-up of Sofia Delgado and Mackenzie Prince at the Halloween dance. The way the picture's angled makes it look just like they're kissing, even though they definitely weren't.
🌕 BEAVER MOON
Grotto Party! Expect a big Quidpong tournament to take place, despite the Quidditch game the next day. (SEE HERE for details and signups.)
Grotto Party! Expect a big Quidpong tournament to take place, despite the Quidditch game the next day. (SEE HERE for details and signups.)
- There will be games of Spin the Bottle and Seven Minutes in Heaven. If your character would like to participate, SIGN UP HERE.
- While heading to the Grotto, Antonia Papadakis swears that they saw Ursula de Luca and Ferdinand Ayers making out behind a tree. But if that was them, how did they get to the party so fast?
- Hazel Keating gets incredibly wasted and passes out on an empty trail while trying to get home. And yet... their roommates find them lying right outside the door of their cabin. They have vague memories of being cradled in arms that felt like smooth tree branches, and someone trying to comfort them in a voice that sounded like aspen leaves.
QUIDDITCH MATCH: Ribbonfin vs. Ebonhide
- Yancey Montgomery charmed the Quidditch team's lockers to emit green and copper fish-shaped confetti when opened as a cute morale booster... but they accidentally went overboard. Now everyone's lockers explode with confetti when opened.
- Paris Holloway is walking by the Rainbow River when they see someone standing on the other side of the bank where there are no trails. They think it looks like Ulysses Quayle, but it's hard to tell from this far away. They try to get their attention, but the person just turns around and walks away, straight into the woods.
- It's getting colder, so Tristan Gascoigne decides to light the fireplace in their cabin, only to have the whole room fill with smoke! After the chaos has died down and Mr. Covington investigates, it's discovered that some crafty squirrels were using the stoppered chimney to store their walnuts for winter.
🎂 Happy birthday, Ursula de Luca!
🌟 The senior Ribbonfins hold their first family dinner to celebrate the birthday of their very own Octopus Queen, Ursula de Luca!
The votes have been tallied up, and today it's announced what the school trips will be! Hopefully you're going somewhere exciting.
🌟 The senior Ribbonfins hold their first family dinner to celebrate the birthday of their very own Octopus Queen, Ursula de Luca!
The votes have been tallied up, and today it's announced what the school trips will be! Hopefully you're going somewhere exciting.
- At the time of the announcement, students will be asked to sign up for who they'd like to share a room with and/or if they're going on the trip or going home for the weekend. Rooms can fit 2, 3 or 4 students. Couples will not be permitted to room together alone. We will randomize rooms for people who don't choose.
Drama Auditions for the winter production. Micah St. Clair is the newly minted Drama Club President, and this play was penned by his own hand! (IC/OOC to come.)
Gooseberry wakes up to cold, heavy rain this morning.
- Samantha Sweeney slips on the way down the hill and slides on their butt about 30 feet in the mud. Their tailbone is a bit bruised, but it could be worse.
- Nisha Lewis and Dinah Dixon transfigure a rubber air mattress into a raft and try to ride it down the swollen Rainbow River, only to end up crashing into some bushes. They're rescued by Rupert Wick who was just passing through.
JUNIOR MONTHLY BONDING
The rain continues.
The rain continues.
- Because of the rain, there are puddles everywhere. Bianca Dubois slips and falls into an especially deep one, and shows up to their first class soaking wet and muddy. The teacher excuses them to run back to their cabin and change.
- Ennis Harper has a ghost sighting out on the docks. A tall, thin boy (Peter) is kneeling at the end of the longest dock, and appears to be talking to the lake. If they look closely, they can see a pair of glowing blue eyes poking just above the surface of the water. Suddenly, both turn to look at Ennis. The boy dissolves into ash, and the girl in the water (Florence) disappears into the lake.
🔮 During Outdoor Exploration, Adeline Foster-Hayes is bitten by a rattlesnake! The incident is frightening, but Mr. Thorn handles it calmly and administers first aid before quickly whisking Addy off to the infirmary. He leaves Veronica Powers in charge of leading everyone back to camp. (Predicted by Griffin.)
It's the day of the Cotillion! Students who are attending gather up their clothes and get on a bus where they'll be taken out of the anti-apparition zone. From there, it's off to New York City!
- Griffin Flowers hosts an anti-Cotillion, which is really just a pajama party watching bad movies and eating junk food in the lodge for a staff-approved sleepover. (You may make an IC/OOC for this.)
💯 This week, Ms. Lilywhite gives her Defence Against the Dark Arts a scavenger hunt challenge for extra credit. It's comprised of complex riddles tailored to each year's subject matter. Only those who are especially well-studied stand a chance. Quentin Youngblood, Calvin Evercreech and Sybilla Borgin end up getting all the answers fastest and claim the prize, as well as that rare scrap of extra points towards their midterms. They also net 10 house points each.
🎂 Happy birthday, Evangeline Bagman!
Archimedes Rose accidentally leaves behind a container of what looks and tastes exactly like sugar, but ends up being his experiments with creating a crystallized Babbling Beverage. (Why on earth would anyone even need that?) Chloe Shepherd unknowingly uses it in their cookie recipe, which they later hand out to other students. Everyone who eats the sweet treats ends up babbling uncontrollably! While not a truth potion, it still becomes incredibly hard to keep your thoughts to yourself. (This event does not have a planned IC/OOC, but the players may make one if they wish.)

🔮 While getting in some extra practice, Clementine Decourt is startled when a very confused bird crashes into their face. They fall off their broom and break an ankle. (Predicted by Lilika.)
- Corrigan Bailey spends the evening in the infirmary, sick with food poisoning. This is why you don't eat an entire batch of raw cookie dough.
- Rosemary Stoker has a nightmare about an evil doppleganger taking over their life, ruining all their friendships and intentionally failing all their midterms. They wake up so quickly that they hit their head on the ceiling. Ouch! These loft beds really are cramped.
SOPHOMORE & SENIOR MONTHLY BONDING
🎂 Happy birthday, Lilika Ignacz!
🌑 NEW MOON
🌑 NEW MOON
- Is the anonymous post coming back or is it gone for good? Everyone watches their journals tensely to find out.
QUIDDITCH MATCH: Coppertale vs. Azurcrest
- 💯 Unexpected bitter rain makes for a very chilly game, and most of the audience members are caught unaware. Evangeline Bagman earns a tidy profit selling smooth river rocks that they've charmed to emit warmth, but lose 15 house points when Ms. Rhee reminds them that private business ventures are not allowed at school. (She doesn't take away their profits, however.)
🎂 Happy birthday, Yancey Montgomery!
🌟 Intramural hockey season is getting closer! To help everyone get ready, Rosemary Stoker and Hazel Keating are holding Shinny Boot Camp on the Quidditch pitch. Come learn how to hit a puck with a stick while the organizers take notes and pass judgment.
🔮 Jonathan Wilde wakes up in the middle of the night to the smell of... wait, is that smoke?! They quickly rouse their cabinmates as the smoke alarm goes off, but luckily Casper Kim manages to put out the fire before anything's seriously damaged. Smoke is everywhere, though, and the five students and their familiars end up sitting outside in the snow as staff rush to find out what happened. It turns out that there was a glitch in the protection spells around the fireplace, and an Ashwinder was created. It laid its eggs under some laundry left on the floor, creating the fire. The whole cabin will have to spend this night and the next in the lodge's guest rooms while their cabin is cleaned. (Predicted by Hero.)

It's time for that beloved Gooseberry tradition: Drunk Shakespeare! Tonight, the Gooseberry Drama club will perform Hamlet. At 8:00, the performers sneak out to the Sorting Cave where the bonfire has been lit. They draw straws to determine which players will have to take four shots of whisky or vodka before going on stage. The audience arrives at 8:30, and the performance begins.

While packing for the school trip tomorrow morning, Lachlan Galbraith's suitcase bursts at seam. Was it overstuffed, or just old? Prospero helps them to repair it in a hurry, but when it looks like it won't hold. He takes them to his room in the lodge and lends them his steamer trunk for the trip. Before they go, he pats Lachlan on the hand and tells them to relax and have fun. He'll have their suitcase good as new by the time they get back.
🎂 Happy birthday, Peyton Ryder!

Dominic Tremblay goes to ask Ms. Lilywhite about this week's reading right before curfew. She looks tired, but is willing to help. Near the end of the discussion, Dom is thinking about one last question, which Ms. Lilywhite answers... but Dom is pretty sure they didn't say it out loud. Maybe they're just tired, too.
Webster Knox finds a detailed, multi-page, likely penned by a freshman, connecting Goosey to the MACUSA. The essay goes off the rails halfway through when the author detours into trying to explain why Taco Tuesday is a cover-up conspiracy.
🎂 Happy birthday, Gabriela Flores!
[Character C3] sneaks out of bed to go visit [their boyfriend/girlfriend/crush] at their window (very romantic), but ends up getting the location of their bed wrong. This becomes very clear when one of their roommates opens their window to see [Character C3] waiting outside.

💯 Estella Morales-Tran finds a crudely drawn treasure map stuffed behind a mirror in one of the restrooms in the lodge. Following the trail is difficult, but in the end their efforts pay off...sort of. In a shoebox buried in the greenhouse, they find a signed photo of David Hasselhoff and a mixtape featuring some of his "greatest" "hits." Unfortunately, they had to dig up Charlotte Meer's experimental herbs to get the shoebox, and lose 15 house points when Mr. Hightower reprimands them.
