What's Happening Here?

Some of your classmates have been taken by Anonymous. He’s put them to sleep in hidden places in the woods. He’d taken control of the forest, and has set up a game for his Brother, to challenge Brother to prove that he loves the children more than Anonymous does. Instead, the Brother’s used all his strength to freeze time in the forest and bring you all here to help him save your friends.

Two things will slow your progress: 1) every time you exit a room, you and your companions will be teleported to a random location; and 2) with so much competing magic in the air, the membrane between life and death has become thinner. You’re not the only lost children out here.

This is our very first time running an event like this, and as such, it's very experimental! We'll see what needs to be adjusted as we go along. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to get this event running. :)

This is a very Essie-specific question, but I'm going to put it in the right section anyway... :x

Marin previously said the compass magic doesn't work for this event, but it would show that Diego was in the forest. Does it react any differently if Essie tries to check it inside the forest? Does it get really confused or should I let the goosemods account reply to any compass checking?

I'm just now getting a chance to read through the deep woods stuff and realized a lot of characters are very one-to-one motivated. I feel bad because Cricket is inevitably going to be MOSTLY motivated to find Ulysses, even though that's not her rescuee. Does that make things harder for you guys ~Clue~ wise (I.e. - Leo finding Raf's letter because he is thinking of him?) OR just less atmospheric?

SHE REALLY LOVES CASEY. But he's been such a twerp! And the Quayles are so co-dependent. I want Casey to get the love he deserves but idk what to do? Can Cricket find a Casey specific trigger of something? Does it matter? Should I just up my chill pill dosage?

EVENT QUESTIONS: journal entries

IC in the past we've had characters doodle and write on other people's journal comments. is it possible for a journal entry to be written on by a non-author in the same way?

alex and i are discussing making a google doc that's linked to from an entry where multiple characters (who are NOT together in one group like Team Punch Ghosts were) can collaborate by adding all the cipher clues they've received into one area, the collaboration area being the entry itself, or a comment in the entry if not the entry itself.

with how the journals function, is this possible IC? colour-coding characters is obviously an option so there's some method to the madness, and it's obvious to see who wrote what. i wanted to check before we actually made and posted it!

okay, sorry if this is a dumb question but now i'm second guessing myself

"When you open the door that usually leads outside, it reveals a long drop down into the lake."

this means outside as in "leads to the outdoors" and not "leads to outside the classroom and into the hallway/the door you just came in through" right? there's two doors, yeah?

So I am trying to piece out pacing on testing combinations in a puzzle box. If someone is just kind of flipping through and testing combinations, say, while walking or in a conversation, how many combinations could they get through in like 5 minutes?

there's a pretty comprehensive snippet of what someone would see through the telescope, so if we have someone look through it, would it be worth it to wait for an atmospheric thing, or just assume that all they see is what was on the description?

Is there anything that players should know with regard to playing out scenes where characters are rescued? Obviously, I'd like to let the other players and the mods respond first as needed, but can I tag in with Ty after that to note the state he's in? Or what should my part in this be (if any)?

When it comes to opening the boxes, would it be easier for you guys if we were like "there's a key in there and it smells like woodsmoke now we go onto actual reactions" or do you guys want to keep it consistent and have a mod comment for all box openings?

Long story short: is there a spell that these kids would know that would allow them to make one of their friends weightless? Levitation spells don't seem to work on people, generally, but being weightless is... not EXACTLY the same thing as being levitated?

... could they do this on purpose?

2. regarding brother's intervention when a dreamer is saved, is it more ~divine~ or do they see/interact with him at all?

Especially for a question with a presumptive answer of "no", but I wanted to ask.

I missed the patronus event because I was on hiatus at the time, so Ivy canonically can't successfully cast a patronus charm. But she's a graduated senior and an excellent student who takes DADA, and... the ghost didn't get her wand arm, and she's got a mouthful of air left, so it would be... technically possible for her to try to cast it, right? I think that's what's gonna happen regardless of whether or not it's doomed to auto-fail, but is there any possibly she'd be able to succeed?

so sam and solo are now separated from everyone else

i'm assuming they can't go back out and look for people because there's no unassigned victims. if that's the case, i'd still really love to be involved in more spoopy stuff and literally am off for the rest of this event and have nothing else pressing to do so

could avery join ollie's group of peeps or isabelle join cubs herding cats if its okay with their players?

or if there's a way and roz wants to throw solo into the mix, have them join with another group or something?

SO DUMB LEO SPECIFIC QUESTION this time!!

He did not grab Clem's coat on the way down because who knew what dangers awaited him at the bottom of that lake, etc.
Is it safe to assume it's still there to grab on the way up?
