PREPARING FOR IJ'S (HOPEFUL) RETURN

Alright, everyone, with the (hopeful) return of IJ on the horizon, here are a few announcements:

• This fresh OOC post is dedicated to Cameron.


• Tomorrow, regardless of whether or not the site is up, we will be posting a list of the major events and IC/OOCs that are scheduled in March.
  • If we do get IJ back, we'll be posting the plot calendar at 11:00 AM tomorrow morning. This will save poor Marin from staying up until 3 AM formatting it.
• Regarding the IC explanation for the downtime: With the Grotto party having taken place tonight (3/3/17) with characters referencing no access to the journal network, if the network comes up tonight treat it as though characters woke up on Saturday morning with functional journals.


• If IJ does not come back tonight, we might be looking at an IJ-less weekend. The Quidditch game post will be posted here on DW on Sunday, and Saturday we might cave and make a Veritaserum meme.

So I can't stay too hopeless and pissy about IJ today

Because later today i have an adoption appointment at a cat rescue for a kitten I might adopt???

But I am not a cat person but I can't adopt a dog with my schedule and small apartment

My dog that I had to leave back home with my parents is basically a posh prissy bitch and barely a dog at all so at least I feel confident in this skill and this skill alone

YES I DID OKAY HERE'S THE THING THAT MAKES IT PERFECT

I wanted a male cat because they're apparently more docile and snuggly and I grew up with male lap dogs my whole life
They say Siamese are more dog-like in personality and good for minor cat allergies
I may have made lists of names I thought would be good for cats and Albert seemed like a good name for a male cat and also Victoria on PBS is like the best thing to ever exist

I had a siamese mix growing up. She was a cranky girl but v v loyal and empathetic. She also was very talky. Siamese in general are super vocal so be prepared for that.

My dog Remy has full on conversations with me so yes this was a perk i will admit I am a weirdo that likes to talk to her pets

cats in general are huge crybabies already in my experience

my dad inherited his mother's siamese and she would wander through his house at like midnight saying "OH NO. OH NO. OH NO."

It was fucking terrifying.

a siamese tried to bite my eye out once

but also one of the smartest prettiest cats i've ever known was a siamese so there's a range

The foster lady said he's sweet and loungey but can be a bit shy with new people and avoids confrontation so basically he's me

My dog Remy has tried to smother me in my sleep when he's afraid of fireworks and given me a black eye but I have always been kind of afraid of cat fights because they get brutal so I KIND OF UNDERSTAND

Fun Fact! I based Ivy's cat off of this cat. Her name was Tyy, and my mom got her when she was in college. Tyy hated everyone who was not my mother, and would hide under furniture specifically to attack my brother's ankles when he walked by. My brother used to jump around from piece of furniture to piece of furniture just to avoid this ankle-biter.

I'm such a dog person so I researched the cats that act the most like dogs

But I've only ever had Cavalier King Charles Spaniels so are they really actually dogs

OH OH. OH. I know the answer to this!

I am a dog person. I adopted a kitten for my boyfriend because is a cat person. I am now a dog-cat person. (I miss the unwavering loyalty and unfailing love a dog brings but I appreciate my fur baby and her diva bitch behavior)

Step 1: Accept that she is going to pretend to hate you more often than not
Step 2: Acknowledge that you're gonna have to get comfortable with force cuddling
Step 3: Savor the sweet moments, even if they end in swats or nips to the hand. It's love
