Hello everyone! Here's details on how to handle the remaining three weeks of game:

On the evening of Sat, Jun 23, the world gets back into contact with the remaining evacuees of Gooseberry High. MACUSA immediately seizes control of the school for further investigation. This includes shutting down the magical journal system for two weeks.

A funeral is held for Zebulon Merrill in Salt Lake City, UT, on Sat, Jun 30. He is remembered by his wife and two adult children, and will be interred in Brigham City Cemetery. All current and former students of Gooseberry are invited to attend, and several of Mr. Merrill's colleagues deliver speeches. (We won't be posting anything for this, but you can reference this event happening.)

On Sun, Jul 8, access to the magical journal system is restored. Everyone who was a student from 2014–15 (i.e. not last year's graduates) can write posts and comments again. Anything that was written before July 8 (e.g. endgame posts) is still visible but can't be responded to anymore.

The return of the magical journal system coincides with the announcement that Gooseberry Alternative High School is shut down until further notice. All freshmen, sophomores and juniors (including exchange students) are all automatically given admission to Ilvermorny, should they wish to continue at an American boarding school. If they choose to continue their studies elsewhere, their academic records will be sent to the new school. Everyone will have received this news by owl post on July 8.

Gooseberry's magical journal system will officially deactivate forever on Wed, Aug 1.

What does this mean for you?

Starting tomorrow, you can post journal entries/comments, IC/OOCs, letters, etc. like normal. It's summer vacation! PLOT HERE about your characters' activities for the past two weeks.

Although graduates can't post on the journals, they are allowed to show up in any summer IC/OOCs or to send mail to current characters.

Your mods are off-duty except for two posts we'll do sometime soon: the "Where Are They Now?" meme (for discussion of your characters' futures) and the 10 Year Reunion IC/OOC. All former students of Gooseberry will be invited to the reunion, regardless of when they attended.

Tue, Jul 31 will be the last day of the game. You will still be able to backtag for as long as you want, but no new posts will be allowed in either the IC or OOC comms as of Aug 1. Everything will stand as a record of the incredible love and work we've all put into this game for the past two years.

Oh my god Lucas can introduce them to his RPGs over the summer. Mass Effect has everything - shooting cool laser guns, blowing up dudes, dramatic intergalactic romance and Elcor Shakespeare. What's not to love.

Ursula pretty promptly got in a fight with her mother over plans to attend a Healer program in the fall so she's been crashing with her v blue collar muggle grandparents in Pittsburgh with Ferdie in tow and refamiliarizing herself with the city before her move. It conveniently lined up with helping the Stokers move to New York.

Essie managed to convince her family to let her stay at the Lacroixes for a night, but otherwise she's been at home getting fussed over. She's currently debating Hogwarts and Ilvermorny as school options next year. Jeffy is finally allowed to visit without getting glared at!!!

Pear is très annoyed with the idea of going back to Ilvermorny, but their family can't afford anything else. If Yancey makes any indications he isn't planning to move out Soon, there are threats on his life.

January hung out in Logan when it became obvious shit was going down and was sure to yell at Danny and grab Riley's booty when they made it to the hotel. Otherwise she's been hanging out at home and/or showing up uninvited places. She doesn't know why everyone's avoiding moving to Jersey.

Sofia probably went home briefly, mainly for Ramon's sake. Had to let her parents see she's alive and tell them she's running off with Phin. She and Phin are probably now off... somewhere.

Cameron has spent a lot of time sitting in the bathtub in the corner of the one room in his house that gets consistent signal, giving himself a crash course in muggle tech by texting all his friends with phones. He texts like a combination of your grandmother and a really annoying teen. More wizardy types, he'll write. Some of his closest friends, he'll probably apparate around to visit, if they want the company. Otherwise, he's spending all the rest of his time sitting by the pool day drinking and insisting he's Totally Fine.

Chloe is very concerned for all her friends, and probably visited the ones who wanted to be visited. If she found out her mimic murdered Rosy, then she's probably grappling with whether she's a sociopath serial killer deep down somewhere. She's also been trying to find an apartment and a part time job in advance of going to art school in the fall.

Fern went home with Plaid Dad. After what happened, all her siblings and their significant others came home to her grandparents' house. It was like Christmas all over again, there were way too many Mufferaws, but it was kinda nice. Now she's getting antsy

Liberty was probably the last student on the bus, because she was trying to walk around campus with some kind of scanner, measuring magical energy levels or some shit. Since then, she has been trying to document the Incident and write a scientific paper on it.

London has been complaining loudly about being home with her siblings and, once the school closing is announced, even more loudly about going back to Ilvermorny. But she has also been making little presents for her siblings, and also sending them out to her friends.

Ok for real this time even though I have no real clue I am a broken person.

Riley did not want to go back to Alaska and insisted on staying in San Diego with her grandparents. Her mom, who is super pregnant and probably doesn't want to deal with the hike that is getting out to her island, is also staying there, and they are fighting constantly but in a very familiar way. They might go to Chile together next year. It's cute. She's still gonna fuck off to everyone's houses and parties and is not at all traumatized by what happened, sorry if you are!!!!!

Rosy is moving to New York!! She actually decided to defer her enrollment in healer school for a year because after the way she handled last year, if she dives right into school again after this she will destroy herself. She moved to New York anyway to get away from home and stick by Sy's side. Her parents were not happy about her putting off school and won't give her an allowance unless she's a full-time student, so she's going to learn how to cook, sleep more than 5 hours a night, and maybe get a part-time job. Will probably end up manager of some gas station in 3 months before it's time to go back to school.

Jeffy is currently trying to figure out how to convince his mother to let him go to another boarding school for his senior year. It's not going well, Jeffy's bad at fake crying. His dad was in Europe when everything went down and the vice president had to pull some strings to get him into Utah as soon as they knew anything, because everyone loves Jeffy, even the vice president of the MACUSA.

Dinah clings to her parents, and then asks if she can go bother Chad and Nisha and probably Rupert too, and then clings to her parents again. She both never wants to leave them and doesn't want to lose track of her friends if they're not going to go to school together last year. She's also spent the last two weeks working on a DINAH DANGER comic book about their adventure and it's going to be fucking epic.

Austin has been stuck in Kentucky, trying to avoid being in Kentucky, and not even offering to help Cameron learn how to text. He wants to write a song about the thing he barely experienced.

Georgie is trying to bring everyone a cup of tea at their homes, probably.

I really hope someone told Chloe she murdered Rosy so they can be super awkward around each other.
