PLOT CALENDAR: FEBRUARY
-
While you can send anonymous flowers, you must sign your name. Your order will therefore be traceable if there's an issue of bullying.
-
However, some amoral freshmen may be bribed into signing a different name on your orders for you, so that no one can ever be sure who sent it.
-
Your characters may opt to receive no anonymous notes, or no flowers at all, just reply HERE. It's up to you to justify why your character would or wouldn't choose to do this!
A blizzard descends upon Gooseberry, and before things get any worse, everyone's ushered into the lodge for safety. It looks like everyone will be spending the night here.
-
Mr. Thorn announces that due to the weather, this month's Quidditch games will be pushed back a week.
-
As reports of strange events pile up, the school staff and the MACUSA agents make an announcement about increased security measures.
-
Students are allowed to leave the lodge and return to their campgrounds. Quentin Youngblood volunteers to help Mr. Covington clear the trails of all the snow, which earns them a boatload of points for their house and a swig from his flask of whisky. "Don't go telling anyone," he warns, "but I think a good, strong drink's the perfect end to a beautiful day like this. The mountains, the trail, and a well-crafted—now, now, don't down it so fast, kid. You're going to choke. Drink to enjoy, not for the hell of it. Getting drunk's not the goal. It's savoring the passion of the art."
-
After the stress of the last month or so, there's a rumor going around that if you throw flour at one of these doppelgangers, their true form will be revealed. Dinah Dixon starts carrying around a sachet of flour, and hits Webster Knox in the face with it when they run into one another on the trails at night. They were so certain it was a mimic!
-
🔮 Hieronymus Lee is reading their journal instead of watching where they're going in an empty wing of the lodge. They miss their step, fall down the stairs and twist their ankle. Luckily, Liberty Chan comes running and helps them off to see Healer Mufferaw.
-
It's proving hard to kill that rumor that flour reveals mimics. A group of roaming freshmen have taken to patrolling the trails with bags of it tonight, and end up attacking Ginger O'Toole, [Character I], and Ariadne Flint, who gets it the worst by far. They're drenched with a watery flour paste which a freshman threw on them with a bucket.
-
The school is divided into girls and boys, and both groups have to attend separate assemblies all on the topic of SAFE SEX.
-
Healer Mufferaw leads the boys' assembly. He's as gruff and no nonsense as ever, and is quick to shut down any boys trying to ham it up or cause trouble. He makes a little too much eye contact with Heathcliff Lacey during the talk. His lesson also includes how to use condoms to light a campfire, and how they make surprisingly effective water canteens.
-
Mrs. O'Hare leads the girls' assembly. She assures them that, after feedback from last year, this lesson will not feature the d-word ("dragon pheromones"). Unfortunately, her normal, sensible talk ends with a weird left turn into her trip to Africa during Erumpent mating season, and graphic descriptions of male Erumpents exploding in the name of copulation. The word "musk" is used too many times, most appallingly when Mrs. O'Hare mentions that her husband still keeps a bottle of Erumpent musk "for old time's sake."
-
Avery Davenport receives a love letter from Jonathan Wilde, telling them to meet them in the gardens. Wilde themselves got a similar letter... but neither of them wrote these notes. Looks like someone thinks they belong together.
-
Aesthetic Magic students are working on pottery, creating animal inspired teapots. Balthazar Doyle's dragon tea pot may be a little too realistic, though, because it wants to shoot boiling water at passersby, and has to be taken off display.
All day the freshman are singing "Lilika Ignacz and Casper Kim, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g!" What did they see? Why do they care so much about who the upperclassmen kiss? No one can get satisfying answers out of them.
Drama Auditions for the spring musical. This year, the production is Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street! (IC/OOC to come.)
MONTHLY BONDING for seniors and sophomores.
Heathcliff Lacey and Fern Mufferaw get to enjoy a catered sleepover in the guest wing of the lodge. Please contact the mods regarding the 8-10 guests, menu and movie/games so we can write the mini-IC/OOC!
-
Whether or not staff wants it to happen, in the days leading up to Valentine's Day, students start to sneak out to the Ornery Oak. It's a Gooseberry tradition/superstition that if you tie a ribbon with the names of you and your sweetheart or crush written on it, you'll be in love forever. Juniper Crane stakes out the tree, and manages to scare at least a dozen students away from the Oak.
-
Chloe Shepherd means well when they suggest that the ribbons be tied on a pretty (and non-magical) tree near Ribbonfin instead. Unfortunately, people start whispering that it's the Cursed Tree, and if you write the name of an existing couple on a ribbon and tie it to the tree, they'll break up in a week. Clementine Decourt finds five separate ribbons hoping they and Sylvester Stoker break up. Rude!
-
🌠 Wishing to provide a safe and fun alternative to the traditional Ornery Oak climb, Head Students Antonia Papadakis and Ferdinand Ayers co-host a Valentine's Day themed obstacle course with the help of Event Committee President Ursula de Luca. It's time to prove how far you'll go for love!
-
Sofia Delgado uses their Saturday to sneak out to Logan in order to see Fifty Shades of Grey. They walk into the movie theatre after the long hike and see... Natalie Prince, who had the exact same idea. (Miraculously, both of them make it back to school after the movie without getting caught.)
QUIDDITCH MATCH: Ribbonfin v. Coppertale
-
Before the game, a list appears on the bulletin board in the lodge, listing the three hottest and three least hot players who will be on the pitch today. It looks like this year's freshmen are carrying on a grand tradition. (Results will be randomized.)
- Evangeline Bagman
- Ramon Delgado
- Nisha Lewis
- [Ribbonfin/Coppertale Player D2]
- [Ribbonfin/Coppertale Player E2]
- [Ribbonfin/Coppertale Player F2]
Why are the freshmen acting so weird? Zachary Zheng discovers that another enterprising freshman has been selling "love potion tablets" to their classmates, which are really just magical candies that induce delirious happiness and flowery speech for a half-hour. The freshman operation is busted, but not before a few upperclassmen are gifted one. They look like normal fruit candies. What could be the harm in eating one?
-
Ennis Harper ends up publicly confessing their love to Lachlan Galbraith, whom they are definitely not in love with.
-
Casey Patterson recites an impromptu love limerick to Ms. Thrussel and is sent to the infirmary for the rest of the day. Luckily (or unluckily, depending how embarrassed they are), Healer Mufferaw only detains them long enough for the candy's effects to wear off, and tells them to go back to class.
💘 Valentine's Day! 💘 That morning at breakfast, flowers and gifts are delivered to everyone by Event Committee. Mr. Hightower also hosts a romantic high tea in the greenhouse for couples, and allows his husband, Mr. Oakes, to revive last year's Sweetest Couple Contest.
-
An upset freshman, apparently not liking the present they found in their locker, throws a heart-shaped box of chocolates down the hall and accidentally hits Tobias Rush in the head with it. At least they get free chocolates?
-
Astronomy Students are allowed to spend the night in the Astronomy Tower on this spectacularly clear night. Ms. Whittle brings snacks, and turns on the projector to let everyone watch Aliens after the lesson wraps up. Gweneth Popplestone ends up having a nightmare after the scary movie, but Ms. Whittle sits up with them making jokes until they feel better.
🌠 It's the final game of this year's Lake Gooseberry Shinny, it's the CHAMPIONSHIPS! Someone might die on the ice for a team they don't even know the name of yet! Come see who!
-
In the wake of Flower Deliveries, Event Committee has a lot of cash on its hands. Jade Otterwell foils a surprisingly elaborate heist planned by a group of freshmen who saw Ocean's Eleven a few too many times, but not before the freshmen manage to lock Ursula de Luca in the basement, and extinguish all the power in the lodge for an entire ten minutes.
-
This week, Aesthetic Magic students are working on emulating the style of Edvard Munch. One of the freshmen must have found a frightening muse, because they painted themselves screaming as they flee from Charlotte Meer.

QUIDDITCH MATCH: Ebonhide v. Azurcrest
-
During the game, a hysterical freshman is wearing a t-shirt with Jefferson Key's face screen-printed on it. They're waving a colorful banner proclaiming their love. Every time their favorite player does something, they scream and cry very loudly. Everyone around them looks a little uncomfortable.
Aesthetic Magic students are working on carving cameos. Because they've historically used to depict people of importance, students are tasked with carving a staff member of choice. Ms. Vector likes the one Phineas Bones carved so much, they ask if they can keep it.
Cassius Holcomb is stopped at the doors of the lodge after their wand-scan by an Auror brings up "abnormal results." The student ends up missing morning classes as they're taken to the MACUSA encampment, for a surprise meeting with the mysterious Director Grimshaw.

DIVINATION PREDICTIONS
- Divination students may select one event marked with this symbol (🔮) to accurately predict at some point before the event takes place.
- These are limited! Please give other Divination students the opportunity to signup if you’ve gotten a lot of chances already.
- Your character may divine this information through any means you see fit EXCEPT by true prophecy. Those are reserved for fully fledged Seers, and there’s only one of those at Gooseberry, and he’s your teacher.
- When you select an event, you may pick two of the following for your character to accurately predict:
- WHO: The character this event is happening to. If it’s a school-wide event or doesn’t happen to a particular character, your little Seer will instead get the sense that this is something with a larger scope.
- WHAT: What will happen to the character, but only in vague terms. For instance, if your character selects the event where someone gets locked in the storage room, they might know someone is going to get trapped somewhere. The mods will tell you exactly what your character knows. Please don't deviate from it.
- WHEN: The exact date the event takes place.
- Reply here to claim a prediction, and tell us which two aspects you’d like to predict. The mods will give you the exact information your character will be able to See.
- You may decide when they make this prediction.
- Claims are first-come first-serve.
- These do not count as your plot calendar slot for that character.
Example: Suzy selects an event on Sep 18, which will have Davy falling into a well. Suzy's player selects that she will know WHO and WHAT, so she replies to the mod Divination comment saying so. The mod account then replies to let Suzy know she can predict the following information accurately: "Davy is going to fall into something deep." The idea is that your character will not have enough information to stop the event and accidentally create a time paradox and/or ruin the person's plot.Re: DIVINATION PREDICTIONS
