FEB 28 PETITION EVENT
On Feb 28, [Petition Character] is stopped at the doors of the lodge after a wand-scan by an Auror brings up "abnormal results." The student ends up missing morning classes as they're taken to the MACUSA encampment, for a surprise meeting with the mysterious Director Grimshaw.
It's time for another petition event! The character selected will have the chance to ask questions from the leader of the MACUSA contingent on the school grounds. Given that he works for the government and seems incredibly shady, we can't guarantee those answers will be satisfactory, but don't you want the chance anyway? So, the rules:
- The deadline for petitions is Mon, Feb 26 at 11:59 PM MT.
- You can complete a petition for as many of your characters as you want. Obviously, only one character in the game will be chosen for this.
- We have a secret criteria for our petition winner, so don't be afraid to submit multiple petitions! Maybe one of your characters isn't what we're looking for, but another one is.
- In case you're worried: yes, the student in question will be returned safely in time for lunch. ;)
And here's the petition form:
Character Name:
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Both in general and relating to their presence at Gooseberry.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Also, rate their mood when it comes to getting questioned by a man in a black suit.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: In other words, how cooperative would they be if they were asked questions about themselves?
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: This includes the Grotto.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?: He reserves the right to not give you satisfactory answers.
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Answers? Reassurance? Is there a specific thing you want for their character arc? Would they find this encounter upsetting or traumatic?
Anything else?:

PETITIONS
Griffin Flowers
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Griffin hero worships his father, who is, basically, a MACUSA secret agent/special ops auror. So, he's pretty chill about it in general, and also doesn't care about politics? So, positive but not strong opinions. Mostly, the aurors are an inconvenience. Because he's already always late to class and they make him even later. Generally, his opinion of the aurors is influenced by the rest of the sophomores' opinions on the aurors, though.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Oh he would squonk the fuck out immediately. Like, just, melt. 100% Good luck getting anything out of Griffin, Bonifacius Grimshaw.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Griffin doesn't want to get in trouble. He would OVERSHARE.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Griffin's a frequent party-goer, but mostly stays out of trouble unless one of the sophomore girls asks him to do something bad in which case yes please show him the way.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
1. Why doesn't my dad have a cool fake name?
2. Oh wait, what if my dad DOES have a cool fake name and he just hasn't told me?
3. Are we going to die here?
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Griffin just doesn't want to get sent to a secret government testing facility.
Anything else?: Breakin' it in with a real fuckin gem. Oh also no matter what Grimshaw's first name actually is Griffin's telling everyone it's Milbert so he can get the pot.
Salem Wagonblast
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: In general, good. Both his parents work for MACUSA, so he has a healthy respect for what they do. Given the department his father works in, it's likely his father actually knows some of these guys at least in a passing manner. As to their presence at the school, he's more intrigued than put off by it.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Hands off the goods, please. As long as they weren't too rough for no reason, he'd go willingly. In general, he's easy going and knows they're just trying to do their job. However, he doesn't take kindly to being questioned.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Salem isn't particularly inclined to give up any sort of personal information. He does realize, though, that he has to at least seem cooperative and nice - he would die before embarrassing his parents by being a twerp to MACUSA agents.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Aside from Grotto parties, he doesn't really do anything against the rules. He is a Prefect, after all. Particularly, he's inclined to follow the rules like buddy-system rules and curfew because they make logical sense and are for their safety. Also, he has to lead by example right?
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Answers, knowledge, etc. Salem is nosy, he wants to understand what's happening. He also likes to feel important and having ANY kind of information the other students don't have would put him in the spotlight. He's a little shit like that, and would likely share this information with his closer friends and of course the student authority. It would also be really cool if this got him more involved with metaplot and the sort of meta-plotty stuff there are already established groups for. Also, a great way to integrate a character into the game - throw weird stuff at him!
Anything else?: It would be REALLY COOL if like literally any of his eavesdropping skills and/or recording devices caught some of this for PROOF or like, caught a before/after part of the convo he wasn't directly involved in.
Isabelle Sargent
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Divided. She really wants to believe MACUSA is good, Director Grimshaw is good, and their presence is helping. But? She's not so sure. Bad things happen regardless of their presence - is it exacerbating it, is it less than it could be if they weren't there? She's very wary of them and has no idea whether or not she can trust them.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: She'd probably cry, or have a panic attack? She'd fall to bits let's be real. It's not a good look for her, but it's exactly what would happen. Being interrogated would be really crappy too and she would be absolutely terrified.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Although she wouldn't WANT to, the nerves and the fact that it's the GOVERNMENT! would probably make her ramble and be as honest as if they'd dosed her with some truth potion.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: She's... back and forth on that. Inherently she isn't a rulebreaker, but she has broken curfew several times, broken a few rules, gone to the grotto, and gone on illegal seances twice. If there's a good reason or "everyone" is doing it, she's game to break a rule. Even for safety.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Definitely answers, reassurance, etc. She wants to be less middle ground on MACUSA and the agents. She wants to know if they are trustworthy - and if they aren't, maybe be more cautious with the teachers who so think they ARE trustworthy. Isabelle would absolutely be traumatized by this, and she'd likely want the opinions/reassurance of her friends and people she thinks are smart and cautious about whatever happens in the interaction.
Anything else?: Nope!
Quentin Youngblood
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Uh, not positive. Quentin doesn’t trust government bodies. He doesn’t believe them being this close to them is gonna end in anything good because anything they discover, they’re gonna lie about. Worse case scenario - they’re here under false pretenses, and everything they do here is self motivated.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Quentin wouldn’t be emotionally upset. Because he wants to interrogate the MACUSA, first of all. But he would be hella on edge, because this is how they disappear people, alright? They escort random people to a random room and nobody hears from that person again. So he’d be hella concerned that’s on the schedule for him. Being questioned by a man in a suit is basically par for the course of exactly what he expects to happen in this tent right before he gets disappeared.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Pretty fucking not. Quentin exists in two shades. One shade is the behavior that is expected of his family - which is noncooperative, extremely suspicious of anything that wears a tie. The other shade is the side that’s aware that he should probably really prove he’s not a mimic himself - but him being a teenager leads him to both believe dramatically that he can get disappeared, but also to believe that since he’s a kid - nothing serious is gonna happen to him even if he can’t prove he’s not a mimic. Getting those two shades to align would be difficult, because deep down - he believes only bad shit happens if you freely offer information, especially personal information, to the government. That’s how they track you. That’s how you get on their radar. And you can never get the information back, and they will never forget it.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Pretty freaking often.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
Are they actually here to kill the mimics, or are they trying to kill everything indiscriminately in that forest?
What happens if an actual student, who now looks exactly like the mimics, gets mistaken for a mimic?
If the mimic issue is serious enough to bring in the big guns, how is it not too lethal for them to even be attending school here?
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: For Quentin? HE would appreciate answers, forever and always. I would appreciate him getting closer to being involved in this shitstorm of a situation we got here. The sophomore class themselves needs to reassert themselves in this situation, and Quentin is willing to share every shred of any type of information he gets out of this with the sophomore class, even if all he gets is ‘a suspicious af dude in a suit escorted me to a tent and questioned the fuck out of me’.
Anything else?: Quentin vs. MACUSA agent would be the showdown for the ages, guys.
Concordia Knight
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: STICK IT TO THE MAN! Kinda, like, she really thinks they are bad and the government is hiding something. Obviously, she has been hanging out with Quentin too much.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: She'd probably be freaked out but not that bad? She's more interested than terrified at first? She BRIEFLY thinks they might KILL HER because she tested weird? She's not happy about being interrogated, at all.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Dia would likely be honest because lying is bad but she wouldn't be extremely forthcoming and would give up like, the bare minimum of information she possibly could.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: ALL THE TIME? She is terrible at breaking rules and has largely been unaffected by bad shit going on so she has that "totally invincible" sort of attitude about it all. Like it's shitty for other people wow much suck but she has no real understanding of how terrible it actually is. So she sneaks out for pranks, goes to the grotto, and would generally do all the bad things if someone told her to go do it, as long as it wasn't against her ~beliefs~.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: I kind of want to break her invincibility feel? Get her focused on what's happening at school instead of her interpersonal feelings on bs. Get her involved with a larger group of people and immerse her in the meta-plot.
Anything else?: ♥
Avery Davenport
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: She's not really pleased with them in general OR with their presence. They haven't seemed really useful at all and mostly they just make everyone more paranoid with their secrecy and it's not helping.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: She'd be pretty upset, but she'd hold herself together. Avery does... ok under pressure, and though she would be anxious she would do her best not to come off visibly upset. TBH this would be her mood and this would be her face.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: I don't think she'd SUPER cooperative. She has never been fond of giving out personal, identifying information and she'd probably say that.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Not frequently. The grotto is kind of it, and though she's done a couple non-school sanctioned events that are against the rules, she is widely known to be a bit of a kill-joy and doesn't engage in many things they aren't supposed to do. She can also be a bit of a follower at times, though, and may absent-mindedly do something against the rules or be otherwise convinced to do something she shouldn't.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
And why do they hate Ribbonfin so much???Do they target certain types of people specifically? In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: As with all my children, I'd love to throw her into the metaplot and see what happens. Avery has been taking dueling & fencing seriously, and slept through the events of last year so she's really interested in knowing how to defend herself, help her friends, or try and make sure nothing like that ever happens again - she wants to be READY for it and I'd love to give her a reason to have a Big Senior Talk about wtf is happening and figure some shit out together as an eldest kids family before they graduate :/
Anything else?: Editted for a question because I realized it might be an interesting concept/question to ask since Avery was literally born an entirely different identity and her biology is actually different bc of the medications she takes. It might be fun rp fodder to play that angle and may give Cash (if Cam wanted) something else to worry about.
Solo
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Solo doesn't actually have any negative feelings toward MACUSA. They're obviously trained in this type of thing, and them being there can be helpful. He has faith in their ability to not screw things up any worse than they already are.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Solo would be concerned. But he would be that generic kid who kinda just... goes obediently. He'll go to the room, sit at the table, answer the questions, a little on edge but completely compliant.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: He would comply. But he would also like to know why - if mimics presumably can't maintain a charade for very long - extensive need for identifying information is necessary. A mimic can't exist forever - presumably - in their stolen form, so why not just wait? He would be extremely interested to see what happens if a mimic is detained and they just wait - and then he abruptly remembers that he's not actually a mimic, and literally nothing would happen, and he's also probably super not even helping his case. That would be when he starts to get concerned about failing to prove himself to be the real him. He would ask them if they have a violin on hand because he can play them a song to prove his identity.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Once upon a time, Solo never snuck out, he never broke curfew, he never went to forbidden areas. Now though, he's capable of it. He doesn't do it weekly, but he does do it sometimes.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
1. How are you doing today? This seems like a stressful job.
2. Has anyone tried talking to the mimics? Maybe it’s like the situation with the ghosts and also the anonymous writer. Maybe they just don’t know how to make people listen to them, and they feel like mimicking us is the way to get our attention. Violence should not be our first response to every unknown entity.
3. What happens if you can’t find a solution to this problem - what happens to the school?
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: I want solomon to have more information, tbh. To get involved in the talks more. Right now, he’s kinda on autopilot, surviving and shit - and he’s kinda taken a step away from the mystery of the school a bit and i want him to get shoved back into that mystery.
Anything else?: If Solomon gets honest-to-god interrogated, he might accidentally turn this into a therapy session where he just bears his entire soul to this straight faced man in a black suit.
Eve
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Eve doesn’t have a problem with macusa. She views them a bit like the ministry of magic. Like obviously sometimes they get a bit out of hand and get dramatic about situations that don’t require it, but generally, they’re meant to keep things orderly. They haven’t negatively affected her to any type of degree, so she doesn’t really mind them much.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: That is… some horror movie shit, actually. Eve would be a little unnerved. Like - she’d go obviously, because she hasn’t got much choice, but she would look very serious about it. She would answer questions plainly, but she also kinda believes that this is all a bit much isn’t it?
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: She’d share personal identifying information to an extent - she doesn’t know exactly how personal that information is. But, she’d give up most information upon prompting, because this is kinda wasting her time.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Not weekly. Eve is still lowkey concerned that if they catch her sneaking out too much, they might just send her ass back to Hogwarts, but she is a gryffindor, and she doesn’t scare easily.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
Do you think the mimics are trying to kill us?
Do you believe there is some dark magic at work here, or are the mimics a naturally occurring phenomenon like imps?
If the mimics aren’t trying to kill us, isn’t trying to kill them a little extreme for what mostly amounts to extreme inconveniences?
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: She wouldn’t be traumatized or upset extremely by this encounter. She’d be inconvenienced by missing a morning of classes and going through this ordeal. But Eve is as interested in the mystery that’s going on as anyone, but she’s also not directly connected to any type of ghost buster group investigating the mystery since she’s still relatively new at Gooseberry, so she’d love the opportunity to ask legitimate questions. I want to give her a plot to launch off of tbh.
Anything else?: All three of my characters are serious, even my troll.
Nisha Lewis
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Nisha knows only slightly more about the inner workings of the US government than your average fifteen-year-old and it's purely by virtue of overhearing whatever her mother's complaining about at any given moment. In general, she's got a contrarian TWO MIDDLE FINGERS UP to authority, but honestly she...isn't pressed about it. The aurors are kind of obnoxious, though.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Up until she's being questioned by an adult authority figure, she's going to be completely flippant. This is some sick spy shit. But once an Adult comes in and Frowns at her she'd get extremely nervous and start cooperating to make the encounter as short as humanly possible.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: She'd be cooperative within reason. Basic identifying information. But she's also pretty savvy when it comes to Adults Pulling Manipulative Bullshit and would start lying if she felt like answering questions might somehow make things worse for her.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Nisha pulls an apple out of her pocket. Takes a bite. Chews. Swallows. "There's forbidden areas??"
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: She's going to act real tuff but she's probably secretly freaked. Either way she's just going to go blab everything to the sophomores and try to turn it into doing something absolutely against the rules.
Anything else?: She has priorities.
Cassius Holcomb
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Uh, well. Cash is ... pro-infrastructure, so he's not anti-government, but in general, he'd like to see a whole lot less of them. He has a healthy distrust for authority and very little faith in outside agencies' ability to make their lives better or safer. MACUSA's presence here is mostly a bearable annoyance.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Not as much as it should??? But in his brain, it's like: Look. Either they'll kill him or they won't, and chances are, they won't. Can't rough him up too bad if they want to return him or ppl will shit. So. Okay. Ask anything you want. Unless they Veritaserum him, they can't make him answer. ...he's a little worried Todd will freak out if he's gone too long, though.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Name, rank, serial number.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Rarely, but not never. He definitely has a PO box in Logan.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Eh, my boy has had a rough month. The rest of his cabin has been making strides interpersonally and professionally, and he's kind of falling behind. He could use a little direction, and this would definitely give him smthng to focus on. He's v. intrigued by these scans, magically speaking.
Anything else?: ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i hate petitions
Jonah Pitchford
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Unimpressed. JD's got MACUSA aspirations, so he kind of sees them as "his people" ...but that doesn't mean he has to like it. Kid's a little cynical, and even though he knows some people who work for The Man are Leslie Knopes, he assumes most are incompetent or callous.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Uh, a decent amount? He'd be pretty cheesed off. What the fuck is wrong with you people?
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Depends on what's asked, honestly. He's quick to get mouthy and/or critical.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Mmm. He's not married to the rules, but he doesn't entirely lack common sense, either. If his roommates are going, he'll go.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: This would get a BIG "Hey??? What the fuck????" out of him. Anyway, he's my newborn and rn, his biggest concern is getting his third dad a date and beating Ira on the next pre-Healer test, so this would get him involved in some Serious Shit quick. Which could be fun.
Anything else?: nnnnnnnnnnnnn
Zachary Zheng
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Neutral-positive! He believes that they're here to help, and that's important to him. Zach loves Gooseberry and will do anything in his power to keep it up and running. If that means having agents hanging around, he can put up with that. Also, it DOES make everything feel a LITTLE like a SPY STORY, which he finds secretly thrilling.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: He'd be 1) worried, 2) befuddled. He'd come quietly for sure; he doesn't want his friends to see him being lead away and panic. He's PRETTY SURE this is all a BIG MISUNDERSTANDING that can be sorted out with some honest conversation.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Quite cooperative. He assumes everyone has the best of intentions, and that the big scary man is just doing what he feels like he has to do to keep them safe. He'll explain himself openly and earnestly, albeit with increasing desperation if that doesn't seem to work.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: More often that he'd like to admit. :(( He's sorry!!! Really sorry!!!!
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: My goodest boy is DEEP in the mimic research pit rn. Anything he learned would come straight back to Bert, then after a touch of deliberation, the Seance Crew. All information is good information! We can only be prepared if we assemble all the knowledge we can!
Anything else?: bbbbbbbbbbbllllbbllllll
Ulysses Quayle
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Ulysses' family is basically synonymous with MACUSA at this point. It's been like 100 years since someone with the last name Quayle wasn't representing the state of TN at some level. His dad is running for prez. His mom's side has extensive ties to the Federal Bureau of Covert Vigilance and No-Maj Obliviation; hell, his grandma was the former director. He's perfectly aware that magical government can get a little ... messy, but it doesn't bother him, because that's just how politics go. MACUSA's morality is his morality, for the most part. (UP UNTIL NOW???) He doesn't adore their presence at the school, but not because he's genuinely worried about wrongdoing. Rather, he feels a little bit like mom has just knocked on the door of his Secret Clubhouse to offer him orange slices. Mom!!!! We're BUSY!!!!!!! Go away!!!!!!! Thanks for the snacks, though.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: 50% laughter, 50% trauma. He'd absolutely think it was some sort of joke, at first.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: The more aggressive someone is with him, the less revealing he'll be, but if the questioning agent knew him well enough to be conversational, he'd probably give a decent amount of information away while shooting the shit. I don't know if y'all've noticed, but the boy can talk. If he realises he's being probed, the agent can enjoy 40 minutes of blather with zero (0) content.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Ulysses has has his fair share of mischief and lord knows he's a frequent Grotto attendee, but he tries to keep his wanderings limited, for Casper's sake. Especially after last year's Minor Situation.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?: Please don't make me write them out in Ulysses' vernacular rn. Please.
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Ulysses' arc will be better served by questions than answers, so I'm hoping it shakes him up, re: MACUSA and aurors and the spooks n scares. He's comfortable rn. Too comfortable. Oh hey, and maybe this would make him PRACTICE HIS OCCLUMENCY? God. A miracle in itself.
Anything else?: ffffffffffffffffpthhh
Lucas Kowalski
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Mixed. Lucas isn't anti-government. His parents work for a government agency and he very much sees the necessity. But, when it comes to the MACUSA he thinks things are well overdue for a major shake up. Given the chance, he'd rant forever about the Statute of Secrecy or blood purism, and there's no way he's not going to get himself on a list by the time he's twenty-five because this kid's going to be an activist. At the same time, though, it's very much tied up in "We can do better" rather than "Fuck the government." Lucas, of course, wants to be an auror, and up until recently, he thought it was super cool that there were aurors at Gooseberry and it actually made him feel safer. Now, though, he actually feels distinctly unsafe around the MACUSA agents. He's also let his imagination get away from him, as per usual, and firmly believes that the division at Gooseberry is some sort of weird shadow agency that isn't well overseen or regulated.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Internally, Lucas would be freaking the Absolute Fuck Out. There's something wrong with him and now they're dragging him into a room to be interrogated? Why aren't they taking him to a healer or a doctor? He would channel that into being pissed off, anxious, petulant teenager, "Have you guys even watched A Movie before in your life? Are you serious right now? Could you try to not? What is this. There are so many ways to die and this is the worst, most cliched one. I'm going to haunt you if you kill me." Crabby, crabby Lucas.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Lucas will give basic information, but he does not trust this Obviously Evil Division of the MACUSA and will start swerving almost immediately.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Hahahahaha. A lot. This is where the lying starts.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?:
Locked up in a government facility for the rest of his life.A reason to be angry, instead of afraid.Anything else?: Lucas at the end of their meeting
Marie Patterson
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Big fat whatever??? she's no fan of the fuzz, but that's just because she doesn't appreciate it when anyone steps on her fun. So, she's about as antipathetic towards MACUSA as she is towards any prefect at any moment. And she does have to admit that having secret agents on campus makes everything soooooo mysterious, and she likes that.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Not into it??? You can't tell her what to do, weirdo, so maybe, like, go get breakfast and stop bothering teenage girls???
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Well, on the one hand, she does like to talk about herself. On the other hand, she has little to no personal insight and is driven by a deeply unfortunate desire to make things bigger and better and more exciting than they are, so she may, uh, confabulate. Get ready to swerve.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Sunglasses emoji.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Sophomore shitpost and a fun new Heretics bop about getting disappeared by the government.
Anything else?: marie is definitely suggestible enough to believe that she was a mimic and tbh? wouldn't bother her that much
Daniel Notoriano
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: So, I decided that Danny went through his High School Libertarian phase LAST year, because I can't fucking deal with writing an Actual High School Libertarian. You're welcome. Now he's just apathetic. Aurors are an inconvenience, but tolerable. He thinks the recent conspiracy theory stuff is as like to be mimics fucking with people as actual conspiracy theory stuff, and would probably put that forward as a theory during discussions to be a shithead.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Irritated. This is dumb. What's to gain by trying to scare the bejeezus out of him? He's not scared. You're scared.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Oh my god he could talk about himself for hours.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Not often, actually. Danny's a square.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Newborn Garbage Babe seeks entrance into metaplot.
Anything else?: The worst.
Ginger O'Toole
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Ginger has not had a lot of time to form an opinion on MACUSA since she hasn't thought about them much in her time of being exposed to the magical world. As her father is a muggle politician that she understands the need for Congress and governing body and all that. She finds their presence at Gooseberry a bit concerning cause really they shouldn't need to be at a school should they?
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Ginger would try to be on her best posh behaviour as her parents have instructed but she would still be a bit upset because she has done nothing and wants to know why.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: She would probably be pretty honest about most things and comfortable telling them things.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Not a lot. She attends Grotto parties on occasion and isn't big on breaking curfew but she might for the right reasons (aka person).
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
1. What's up with all the craziness that manages to go on at this school, is it like normal?
2. Mimics, what are they how do they do as they do?
3. So what exactly marked me as abnormal?
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Answers, some reassurance maybe. She would be unsettled by the encounter but not really finding it too upsetting.
Anything else?: Nope.
Karen Zabinsky
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Karen kind of thinks of them as this big overarching thing that is beyond her comprehension or understanding really, because she has never spent a lot of time learning about it. She knows they make the rules and are there for the benefit of the magical community and such. She is kind of worried by their presences at Gooseberry,
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: It was be pretty surprising for Karen and it would leave her a little shell-shocked. Probably a bit visibly upset.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Not very co-operative as she tends to shut down when she is upset and in this case she would probably not be sure what to say and it might take a bit for her to say anything.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: She has been to one grotto party and otherwise a good little student.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
1. Could this close Gooseberry?
2. How do the mimics know things?
3. Can she just go?
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Karen would find it upsetting and then leave her a bit worried about if gooseberry could close and leave her thinking about things a lot. But really just shaking her up a bit and see that other shut down side of her.
Anything else?: Nope.
JD Pitchford
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Positive and trusting. JD wants to be a prosecutor and a politcian, and she's considered being an auror in the past too. She's never really considered a life for herself where she wasn't working for MACUSA at some of the highest levels. While she's politcial and prideful enough to think that there are things about MACUSA that she could do better if she were in charge, she reveres it as an organization and ideal.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: It wouldn't necessarily upset her, but it would definitely agitate her because it doesn't seem like standard operating procedure to her. She's a child and she hasn't done anything wrong and she is very cognizant of both of those facts, so she wouldn't appreciate being treated like a criminal.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: JD's not an obstructionist and she wants the MACUSA investigation to be successful, but she wouldn't answer any questions agents asked her under these circumstances. She's big into true crime. She knows to keep her mouth shut if she's under suspicion of something she didn't do. Her position on this would essentially be like "I will be happy to cooperate with you once I have a teacher/parent/lawyer/etc present, but I am a little girl and you can't question me in a shady black ops tent in the middle of the woods alone".
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Occasionally, usually coinciding with prefecting duties, although she sometimes does attend Grotto parties off-duty.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
▸ Are my teachers aware that you're holding me here?
▸ The mimics are easily dispatched by jinxes relatively harmless to humans. If you really think I'm a mimic, why not cast a simple jinx on me to prove that I'm not one? (She would consent to this.)
▸ If you don't think I'm a mimic, could you please elaborate on what kind of "abnormal result" your test turned up?
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: I'd like to put her under a little pressure. She thinks she'd handle this pretty well because she's level-headed and very good in Occlumency, but she's... y'know, a seventeen year old girl. Coming face-to-face with the MACUSA bigwig on campus might remind her of that and the fact that she's still out of her depth re: the mimic situation.
Anything else?: I'm going Newest to Oldest on this one sorry Reece and Clem.
Tally Prince
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Simple and uncomplicated. Extremely privileged, not particularly smart, and very sheltered, she's the kind of person whose parents told her to find a police officer if she ever got lost as a child. All aurors are basically just friendly, responsible adults in her mind.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: It would moderately upset her, although if they told her she wasn't in trouble she could probably be assuaged. The fear of being in trouble is definitely more pressing to her than the literal reality of being alone in an interrogation room.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Yes.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Semi-frequently, usually in groups, and she's been pretty good about curfew this year since the parties all wrap up before they have to be home. Oh, and she went to Logan alone recently. But that was her first and only time!!!
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
▸ Are you really super duper SURE mimics can't get into the Lodge anymore, because I heard a freshman saying my dress for the Valentine's day dance was tacky, and that seems like something a mimic would say?
▸ Is this going to go on for much longer, because my mom and dad aren't very happy about it, and I don't want to have to go back to Ilvermorny?
▸ Am I in trouble???
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: She'd love to be the center of attention for a hot second, but it probably wouldn't push her character growth in any major way. She'd be more excited to learn Director Grimshaw's name than anything else. I'd still love something that forced her to grow up a little, also.
Anything else?: Dumbest childe
Antonia Papadakis
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Nia had no strong feelings on government prior to this year. Nia believes that the MACUSA presence has the interest of the students in mind inasmuch as they can avoid catching shit from the students' rich and influential parents. She doesn't trust them. She doesn't like what they're doing. But she doesn't believe they're malicious.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: It's patently ridiculous and she makes it clear she thinks so. Nia remains stoic and professional throughout, and refuses to show any sign of fear or being intimidated.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Nia will be mostly cooperative, but will start asking questions if things get too personal.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Nia has an obviously rehearsed canned answer about how she's looking out for the welfare of her fellow students and if keeping them safe means breaking a few rules about what's out of bounds, then she's willing to bend them.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: Ummm I'm honestly interested to see how the experience would affect Nia. She's keeping it together so far, but she's under a lot of stress. And hey let's break her.
Anything else?: I just found a 7 minute long metal cover of Africa but I only got to listen to 2 1/2 minutes of it before I was asked to turn it off.
Yancey Montgomery
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Was generally positive and trusting. Following the revelation of several rumors among the student body, he's not sure what to believe.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Yancey really doesn't like feeling like he's got no control over a situation, so he'd be pretty nervous. Especially prone to mistakes/goof ups.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Yancey would be 100% cooperative. Deep down he still thinks they have his best interest in mind.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: Not any more than your average Gooseberry student. Honest.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: I think Yancey would come out of it unsettled, but getting some answers would help him feel better. He's concerned about how much the senior Ribbonfins have been the subject of mimic fuckery, and he hopes that he can at least get some information out of this.
Anything else?: DONE. FREE.
Rosemary Stoker
What are their feelings on the MACUSA?: Complicated, trending negative. She doesn't inherently see all members of the MACUSA as Evil, but as human, which is possibly worse. While she's no anti-establishment radical, she tends toward skepticism, and distrustful of adults as a rule.
How much would it upset your character if they were escorted by government agents into an empty tent with a single table and chair in it?: Okay, honestly, you guys need to realize she's going to miss class. No, hang on, did you not hear her? She's going to miss class. Rosemary Stoker hasn't missed a class that wasn't canceled since she was eight years old, do not fuck with her on this. After being informed that, yeah, sorry kiddo, you're stuck here until they can make sure you're a human, Rosy would get herself good and stubborn and wouldn't feel so intimidated anymore. Just wait until her father hears about this.
Would they be willing to share personal identifying information?: Name, rank, and serial number only. Look at her wand if you want to verify her identity, check her books and binders, because god knows they're all labeled with her name. If you want anything deeper than that, you're going to have to give her a damn good reason.
How often do they sneak out after curfew or attempt to go to forbidden areas?: She goes to the Grotto to supervise, and she has maybe headed out there on prefect business once or twice. While she's discussed hypothetical situations that involve going out after curfew to forbidden areas, she's a Very Good Girl.
What THREE questions would they ask Director Grimshaw, if given the chance?:
In general, what do you hope your character gets out of this encounter?: For the most part, this would be Big Dumb Gryffindor Rosy, taking her anger out on some random dude in shades and a dark suit. It's not a bad look on her, and it gives her a thing to focus on that isn't her own brain. But her third question is Big Dumb Sister Rosy, because in a handful of months she's going to be out of here, but Freddy's got another three years. Someone, please, try to take that off her plate.
Anything else?: No really you guys, she's going to miss class.
