CHARACTER INTRODUCTIONS & PLOTTING

Hello everyone, and welcome (back) to Gooseberry! We still have a couple weeks until the actual game opens, but we anticipate a lot of new characters joining us.

RULES

So the OOC comm isn't flooded with dozens of new introduction posts, please introduce your new characters here!

Remember to put your character's name in the subject line!

You can say as much or as little as you like. Consider hitting the basics like, house, classes, clubs and year, then describe their personality and interests briefly. Mention what kinds of storylines you want (friends, enemies, etc.) and get to plotting!

Then go around and reply to other peoples' introductions, establishing lines and relationships.

If you have some plot you'd like to talk to people about that involves a returning character, comment here explaining what you're planning!

Be courteous and limit yourself to only one medium/small gif or image! We don't have cuts here, so be kind to your friends who might be on mobile.

HELLO ALL. I... really really really need to respond to other intros and also the responses on my LAST intro, BUT!!! FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THAT, because this is ALEX with ANOTHER NEW CHARACTER!

So this is Austin McNamara, of the New Ebonhide Junior Boys! Roll around in his trash heap bio here!!

Concept: Sensitive singer-songwriter strives to impress classmates, irritates instead.
Classes: Outdoor Education, Charms, Herbology, Astronomy, Potions, History of Magic, Artificing, Music.
Clubs: Choir, Gaming, Gardening.

The most important thing about Austin is that he is your resident acoustic guitar kid. He brings his stupid guitar everywhere. He will be playing Wonderwall at the Grotto and practices constantly in his cabin. He's not as good at guitar, singing, or songwriting as he would like to be but he's going to do it constantly anyways. I'm sorry to his roommates but HE'S NOT!!

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS:

From Muscle Shoals, AL. And also Cedar Knob, KY, which is right over the border and just outside the Halo of Wealth that is Olympus, TN, but he'll mostly just tell you he's from Muscle Shoals. Because it's a music town. If you didn't know that before he started here, you know that know, because Austin will be sure to tell you it's a music town.
He's Cameron Carney's cousin, and he is nowhere near as bright and sparkly and outgoing and fun, and also nowhere near as musically talented.
He's kind of a brooding hipster douche. Not that he's mean, or has that much to brood on, it's just being moody and condescending is very important to the hipster aesthetic that Austin is very dedicated to. He can't believe you haven't heard of his favorite band (except of course you haven't, they're super underground, not mainstream like this garbage the rest of you guys listen to).
He tries to hide his southern accent a lot, because saying you're from Muscle Shoals and sounding like you're from Alabama are two different levels of cool. He's not very successful at it. There are too many other southerners at this school, it trips him up.
Sometimes he walks around barefoot and he's going to get hookworms if he keeps it up.
Look at his beautiful kitty, her name is Delìrium Còrdia (or just Deli, he named her after a ridiculous album and you shouldn't be required to call her that).
I hope I get to embarrass this kid. I hope he writes some super overwrought lyrics after getting his heart mildly broken or something.

Alex I am super bad at these intros too but with this summary and that gif i am just like "oh no, he's superficially like Diego" and i don't even know what that is going to mean with Essie, but she may be super bratty at him half the time and the other half be like "LET ME SIT BY YOU WHILE YOU PLAY WEEPY GUITAR SONGS. PLEASE CRY HARDER. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED SUSPENDERS???"

He is a downgraded Diego. Diego deserves a better successor than this. But he's happy to cry harder while playing weepy guitar songs if someone else is encouraging it! It's his favorite hobby!!

Austinnnnnnn is cute.

Calvin's in his year and... has almost certainly been a jerk to Austin for most of the time they're known one another. Any time Austin said something pretentious Calvin's hackles were immediately up. HE SOFTENED A LITTLE LAST YEAR, and might have the wherewithal to feel bad, but you can totally count him as someone who finds Austin irritating.

Spencer's also in his year and he'll be nicer! But he's a little shouty and overbearing and he's maybe heard of that band (as in one time Austin said the name in his presence) but lol he's definitely never bothered to listen to them or care much. He might be a little too much of a steamroller when faced with a nice quiet kid AUSTIN LET'S BREAK YOU OUT OF YOUR SHELLLLL.

Archie's a year below him but they probably won't interact a lot unless... Archie takes an unfortunate liking to him.

Kenzie and Reid probably don't matter too much aside from being prefects, but Austin doesn't seem like he's going to get in lots of trouble. Kenzie's friends with Cameron though so she'll know who he is in that context.

Calvin, you have the right idea. Once I find his voice I hope he and Austin are at the very least mildly snippy with each other at all times.

Spencer is definitely a little too much for Austin sometimes, and he's mostly grateful that they are not roommates. It's the only way he can continue to like him. BUT he might appreciate the attempts to break him out of his shell, he just won't show it. That would imply that he needs to improve on something, and obviously that can't be true.

Everyone else can just listen to him play his guitar.

Yes I do too. And it's like... boys, boys. Please. You're both insufferably pretentious.

Yeah, Spencer's the kind of guy you need breaks from. But he'll keep hammering away at Austin for attention and... I'm sorry about that.

Jade will probably torment him endlessly, and she's not sorry. BUT he's obviously a junior, so he gets at least that built-in fondness??

Tuesday is in his house but she will still think he is cool even though he broods. She knows that whining over petty thinks is necessary sometimes and appreciates his aesthetic!!!

Addy likes Cameron a lot and so she will probably be very nice to Austin toooo

If the juniors weren't The Juniors no one would want to put up with this butt so thank god he's at least got that going for him. He'll play a heartbreaking song at her next funeral, he promises.

Tuesday and Austin can occasionally be mopey bears together and not let anyone give them any shit for it.

Addy is an actual doll and Austin will not be able to do anything but like her. He's nowhere near as friendly as Cam but there's a nice kid in there! Somewhere!

And he is clearly also Ferdie's secret cousin. Look at how much they kind of look like each other!!

H'okay so!! Most relevant children are Hazel and Ramon since they're in the same grade!! Exciting!!1

They both have a few classes with him, so they'll see each other there. Hazel will probably call him a nerd a lot and mean it, and will also likely aggressively question why he wants to get rid of his accent because Southern roots are important, MAN. Most of the time she'll tell him to lighten up and will just be like: lmao yeah ok if he gets too hipstery. Ramon will likely find him more annoying. This will not stop him from trying to kiss him, but he will request that he stop having so many stupid feelings, thanks.

Less important kids: Phi, who is also an ebonhide and also in gardening, and will find him less insufferable than she aught to. She too has a Very Southern Accent and feels your pain. Plus, she'll like Cameron so she'll be moderately nice to him. He and Jaime have abs nothing :D

Austin deserves a lot of eye rolling and being told to lighten up. Keep it up, Hazel, you're doing the lord's work. And if you try to kiss him that might give him more feelings Ramon, is that what you want?

Phi probably brings the Bama accent out in him and they just drag each other down that Very Southern Wormhole. And that's your loss Jaime! (it's not, if anything it's Austin's loss, sucks to be you Austin)

paige's in his year and thinks his songs are so good, wow, he should be a professional musician!!!! she'll def approach him while he BROODS and ask why he is SAD and try very hard to help him feel HAPPY again. this might, unfortunately, be an ongoing thing.

cor's in his house and is a fellow Music Kid. even if it's taken a back seat to ~her quidditch passion,~ she's still committed to making music. when she feels like it. and because it's the only reason her parents let her stay. her lyrics aren't any better, bro. she probably likes his brooding douche gig a little bit because she's also trying to be Too Cool For School.

casey's confused about why cameron's cousin is so short. and kurt has some club overlap. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I really really hope this is an ongoing thing and I hope it turns into them being unlikely best friends. Go away, but not so far away that I can't hear you compliment me.

Cor and Austin probably hella jam in the music room. She acts cool and detached about it he gets so into it he breaks a guitar string, it's a disaster and together they average out to having the appropriate level of emotions for this activity.

Cameron's cousin is also confused about why he's so short. Is cameron's dad half-giant or something this is bullshit.

Casper is obviously a fellow Ebonhide and he's close to Cameron...and that's probably the only reason that he tries to not be terrible to Austin. Because the only hipster he likes is Diego and he wants to roll his eyes at every other word that comes out of Austin's mouth. :') SORRY.

Heathcliff is in the same grade and has Gardening Club with him but given that Austin kills every plant he touches he probably spends most of that time shooing him away from stuff that's important to him. DON'T WRECK THE GARDEN, BRO. Otherwise, he likes him and will just make fun of him a little when he gets too pretentious. Cole's in also in Austin's grade but probably doesn't see much of him. He will, however, let him talk about music for as long as he wants. He's definitely never heard of your bands, Austin, and he'll definitely be spacing out after you talk about the first two.

Lachlan...is also here? They're in gaming together and Austin can probably kick his butt at Mario Kart, but that's about it!

Austin is lucky to have a likable cousin because he does himself no favors. Your reaction is very understandable, Casper.

HE'S SORRY HE KEEPS WRECKING THE GARDEN, HEATHCLIFF, he'll... try to do better. He really thought playing music would make them happier, that's supposed to help isn't it? And as long as Cole tries even a little bit to listen to him talk about his awesome bands he can drift off immediately, Austin will never even notice.

Austin will happily kick his butt at a Mario Kart, it's his only real talent and it's very useful.

Lucas is most relevant! And... In one of the anonymous posts toward the end of year 1 he identified Austin as being cuter than he is or something. I can't remember. ANYWAY, Austin probably sees hairghost around a fair bit because of Bash. Lucas has to try really hard not to laugh whenever the guitar comes out but will generally be ... Lucas.

He is on Nia's radar because of music and I am so sorry because introspective brooding is blood in the water to her and she will harass him relentlessly.

Nisha and Yancey aren't relevant really but I am 99% sure Nisha will find a dumb question to ask him at some point before June.

Austin will generally appreciate Lucas' dry sarcasm and you better not laugh at his art, Bash's Boyfriend. He's baring his soul here.

Nia you should definitely harass him for any level of introspective brooding, he is a useless bag of trash and should be treated as such.

He....... will not know what to do if faced with Nisha and I look forward to it and his probable discomfort immensely. Fuck him up, son.

Ari is in his house and year! She probably thinks he's gross. Todd is also a junior and is probably MORE likely to be friends with him if you think they'd get along??

& Tally is the Music TA so he'll probably be seeing a lot of her. She's not easy to impress and has probably criticized his songwriting super harshly even tho her lyrics are also bad. HE WILL NEVER LEARN IF SHE DOESN'T HELP HIM.

Ebonhide junior, you say? Then there is a Jo we should discuss! <3

So Carolina is also a music person. Her band sings poppy stuff, though, so I dunno how his hipster vibe feels about it. Regardless, she'll think he's awesome and will play with him or sing with him whenever. She also can help him with lyrics if he wants! She's also ~technically~ a southerner, although since Richmond, VA is like 2 hours from me I don't consider myself a southerner so I dunno. Regardless! She will like him.

Vee adores all Ebonhide. #sorrynotsorry. She will encourage Austin and his music!

Milo and Ana are like O_O So. I'm down to randomly throw them together sometime!

Most relevant obviously is Isabelle. Same year and house! She's also a singer :D :D :D She's in Charms, Herbology, Astronomy, and Potions with him. She's also in Choir! Apparently she has a thing for hipster douches??? So she might like him despite him being really condescending but also she's a wet blanket so she doesn't always stand up for herself or correct people etc I mean you kinda know how she is. I think she'll like him though!

Samantha is also a junior with him - in OE, Charms, Herbology, and Artificing with him. She's also in gaming club with him! She'll probably think he's a bit of a tryhard and she'll tease him but she also likes all kinds of ridiculous people and don't see her like, NOT wanting to be his friend and everything. Plus she is struggling hardcore in Artificing and also not the bestest ever at Herbology so they could, like, study together? Esp since he's good in Artificing and at least plants don't die when she's around?

Concordia, Avery, and Oscar don't have much immediately relevant overlap so we'll just see if they talk and what happens unless you had any ideas!
