Character Name: Lachlan Galbraith
House and Year: Azurcrest Junior
Classes: Charms, Herbology, Hermeticism, Potions, Transfiguration, Astronomy, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Magizoology
Extracurriculars: Gaming, Outdoor Exploration
Current State: At the moment, Lachlan is ECSTATIC because his long-distance boyfriend arrived for the match with Hogwarts and is a potential exchange student for next year. While he knows he shouldn't, he's already letting his hopes get sky high and he's certain in his heart of hearts that Gabriel will be his classmate at Gooseberry next year. This can only end well! Right? Right?

Apart from that, he's beginning to get Very Stressed about exams and he's been hitting the library harder than ever. While he's doing well in most of his classes, Defense Against the Dark Arts is still very difficult for him and he's struggling. DADA will be the primary cause of his panic attack later this month (thanks, pcal!) and he may be dropping it next year as a result and picking up something that he's better suited for. For the next couple of weeks he will get increasingly worked up over his studies and that'll make some of his other bad habits intensify. He really wants everything to be Just So right now and he may flip out at his roommates if they leave the cabin in any kind of mess or disorder. :( Sorry guys.

Looking For: Nothing in particular, actually! I'd mostly just like to develop his friendships and play around. If anyone has ideas for him, though, hit me up!
Anything Else: I'm working on an obnoxiously long bird-watching checklist for him that I'll post to his journal soon. He may be the biggest nerd at this school. GUYS. He saw an orange-crowned warbler today!!!
Summer or Year Two plans: Lachlan is planning to spend the summer trying to smooth things over with his family a little and hanging around with Gabriel who...will not tell him until the end of the summer that he didn't make the cut for the exchange program. And that he can't see Lachlan anymore because it's too hard with the distance. So that'll be a little heart-crushing since they've been together since sophomore year.

OTHER THAN THAT. He could potentially visit friends or have friends visit him, though his parents are anxious about wizards and anyone not able to play Muggle would likely have an awkward time. :( He may also get a part-time job to earn some spending money. I'm debating on the type, though!

In Y2, Lachlan will still be dealing with being dumped and he'll be primed for making a few Bad Decisions. He'll also be taking part in Spin the Bottle/Seven Minutes in Heaven/the like and doing a little more drinking at parties. But still not to the extent that many other Azurcrests do. If he can't go home and look Authoritarian Reece in the eyes, he won't really be able to live with himself. He'll also be trying to keep in mind what Mufferaw said after his panic attack about school not being everything and trying to find better ways to handle his academic anxiety. But. That'll be a work in progress.

Ugh Lachlan. Addy's heart will hurt about all of this. :( She loves him a looot and will be around with Calm Talk this year, and Empathy Re: Breakups NEXT year.

LACHLAN DOESN'T DESERVE HER. ♥ But he's grateful for Addy's friendship. :( Likely, the Calm Talk will help him in the short-term when he's with her or with his friends but less in the long-term because he is just so concerned about achieving and being perceived a certain way. He'll...need to work on that. And having her support after his breakup will mean a lot because she's been in the same boat (well...a worse boat since his breakup didn't involve cheating). She might be the person he's most willing to talk to about it.

Sorry in advance for his bad life choices, sweet Addy!

PS - HE IS SO HAPPY SHE'S THE POTIONS TA. And he will talk about how awesome she is on the regular. He's very impressed.
