🎂 Happy birthday, Cassius Holcomb!
May Day! For the time being, the dreaded buddy system is reenacted when students are moving around after sunset. At breakfast, Dr. O’Hare is visibly agitated by the situation, and strongly advises that no one be alone if they can help it, because the entities seem to be the most confident when their target is alone. Agent Larke tries to soften that somewhat alarming statement, but it’s too late.

- Reece Downing raises their hand to ask if the school will be closed because of the danger posed by anon, and Mrs. Bloom is quick to assure the student body that Gooseberry’s not going anywhere. Extra safety measures will be taken, however, even in campgrounds and the lodge.
- In the wake of the incident yesterday, the mood’s a little tense, but as Event Committee already planned it, the staff decides to go forward with the May Day celebration. Dinner is held out in the gardens where a maypole has been constructed. There’s also a station for making beautiful flower crowns.
- While making flower crowns, Cole Moss discovers the hard way that they're allergic to daisies. They break out in hives and have to be taken to Healer Mufferaw.
- The highlight for many girls is the crowning of the May Queen. This year, it’s Adeline Foster-Hayes. The year before that it was Tabitha Ogletree.

Prom voting opens, and it’s announced that the theme will be... Clue! Everyone is given their colorful aliases, and Event Committee is going to be hard at work building a mystery for the party-goers to solve. The plot will be that all the students are attending a ball when the wealthy host is abruptly murdered! Who will solve the crime first?!
- Event Committee also have a fun plan for prom photos, which will be posed like mug shots. What we’re asking everyone to do is go over to THIS SCREENED POST and submit suggestions for what everyone’s “crimes” would be. For instance, Diego’s might say “Cried in Public.” They should be cheeky, but not hurtful.

🎂 Happy birthday, Fern Mufferaw!
It’s the Friday before a game, so you guessed it, we’re having a Grotto Party! Because he’s not allowed to get drunk (and he’s gotten a bit overconfident), Sylvester Stoker insists on decking out the Grotto with Coppertale colours. Meanwhile, Diego Morales, who never let drunkenness stop him from cheering on his own house or going all-out for a Grotto party, has Azurcrest colours up. The effect is… a little garish.

There’s something off about the journals this morning. They smell like woodsmoke, just like during the anonymous post, and students quickly realize there’s a reason for it: everything they write is anonymous!
- Anything posted on May 9 and 10 will be completely anonymous.
- Wards do not work. Anything you attempt to ward will be visible to everyone.
- When the journals go back to normal on May 11, everything written anonymously will remain so.

Outdoor Exploration Club has another camping trip! Students get to miss classes on Friday, and will return Sunday. If your character is in OE and you’d like them to join the trip, please sign up HERE.
- Due to their outstanding work in Outdoor Exploration, Mr. Thorn allowed Hazel Keating to choose where their trip was going to be. Their options are: the deep forest, the high mountains, along a river, into town to stay at a campground near Logan, or Lone Wolf Island. Hazel chooses Lone Wolf Island!
- Henrietta Gray is given the responsibility of overseeing putting up camp. Remember: no magic!
- During the trip, Adeline Foster-Hayes is on a hike when they see something strange in the distance. They decide to go check it out, and discover something unsettling: all of the stolen photos of teenaged Mr. Elmasry, carefully arranged in the hollow of a small tree.

Zachary Zheng gets into a discussion with Gooseberry’s prickly librarian about the history of the school. She explains that there was a mining settlement not too far from where the school is now, but there aren’t many records on it. It’s likely that the old skull that was found was from the mining camp. Unfortunately, she refuses to give Zach a copy of the map that would lead them to the mining camp. “I know you’ll only try to go there if I do.”
The unofficial Dance Club is hosting an open house today, where students can come to learn about all the different styles, and how to get involved in dance next year. This also serves as an opportunity to get some pointers on how to cut a rug during prom!

Diego Morales, Levi Kramer, Ivy Templeton, Casper Kim, Quinn Cunningham and Jesse McBride are hanging out in the Grotto, passing the time, indulging in illegal substances. When it comes time to leave, the group finds something isn’t right. They walk and walk and they just wind up walking straight back into the Grotto again. Nothing outside of it looks familiar, just foreign trees and dirt. And then there’s the Grotto again. It’s nearly three hours before the pattern finally breaks, and the students escape. Diego Morales, upset, says he’ll never go into the Grotto again. (This is the official end of mod-run Grotto parties this year.)

During today’s musical rehearsal, Mrs. Acuña is more focused on backstage details than running through scenes again, and leaves the performers to manage themselves. Philippa Nightingale decides everyone needs more singing practice, and starts blasting a karaoke playlist of Disney songs.

- Regan Hobbs leads the section of crew members painting backgrounds to sing “I’ll Make a Man Out of You”—badly. It’s possible all of them have inhaled too many paint fumes before doing this.
- Damon Evercreech decides to bring the house down with their version of “Let It Go.” Unfortunately, Ms. Thrussell shows up to listen, and comments at the end, “Oh darling, we need to do more singing lessons with you tout suite.”

For luck, competitors seek favours and trinkets from the “most beautiful” ladies/gentlemen in the audience before they enter the ring. - Sebastien Lacroix, Solomon Webb, Jade Otterwell & [Sophomore Character S2]
