Ennis Harper (Walkthrough for Romance Route)

What do they look for in a person?:
Someone who likes rats and won't make fun of his myomancy or think it's weird. :^(

He likes nice and kind and sweet people. (But he also had a huge crush on Moaning Myrtle so Results May Vary. As long as they're nice, kind, and sweet from his perspective.) They don't have to follow the rules or make good grades or be invested their school clubs or anything, they just need to have a good heart. People who are calm/having calming auras are appealing to him, but he also finds himself drawn to bolder/more outgoing personalities. HE WANTS SOMEONE WHO WILL INITIATE HAND-HOLDING FIRST IN THE BEGINNING SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO DO IT. I also think he's more likely to have strong romantic feelings for someone his year or a year younger just because he prefers a more chaste romance and he feels like seniors are older, more experienced, and have different wants and expectations regarding the physical aspects of their relationships. He's not into the casual hookups a lot of them seem to have going on.

But lbr, he'd probably like anyone who likes him and doesn't mind his weirdness. Part of his draw and dedication to Myrtle was because she was one of the first girls that showed interest in him, ignoring that she showed interest in several other boys as well. Another huge part of it was that she was lonely and sad and he could relate; that's also why he's drawn to Anon, because he projects that feeling of loneliness onto them/it as well.

What do they find romantic?:
Sitting together quietly. Ennis likes being read to because he loves books and stories, but he's not a strong reader. (Whenever he's been called on in class to read aloud, it's excruciating. He also has a hard time reading some journal entries and comments because of kids' shitty handwriting.) He thinks the Grotto is super romantic and he'd like to spend time just sitting in nature.

Also, someone taking interest in his hobbies and wanting to help him is TOTALLY ROMANTIC, THE ABSOLUTE BEST. The best way to get him to open up is to have him talk about his hobbies and interests. And someone wanting to join him or help him or watch him or WHATEVER, AS LONG AS IT'S POSITIVE INTEREST... It makes his heart go !!!!

Who do they have a crush on?:
He has senpai crushes on Zoey on Diego, but he knows those are going nowhere and he's not interested in pursuing them. He has a crush on the Anon writer, or at least the idea he's formed in his head of what the Anon writer is like. I thiiink he has on-off romantic feelings toward several of his friends but those feelings are similar to that of a romantic friendship and not out of any strong want for a romantic relationship. He just wants to sit quietly and have his hair played with and not have to worry about expectations. :C

Are they seeing someone right now?: Nope.

What are they like in a relationship?:
I'M NOT SURE??? I feel like Ennis has a hard time communicating what he wants in a relationship and he's shy about initiating things. He has a looot of insecurities to work through. Things can go awry if his partner wants to move faster than he's ready and Ennis will either withdraw and find excuses not to or just go along with it and hope for the best rather than clearly outline his boundaries. Someone who asks straightforward questions and encourages clear communication is probably best for him, buUuUut ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think he gets really emotionally invested in relationships and he expresses his love through chaste gestures and gifting handmade items. He can knit, he can bake, he's an artist. Friends already get a lot of gifts, but a romantic partner would get more labor intensive gifts and more frequently.

Unless there's a strong friendship as a foundation, budding romantic relationships with Ennis probably feel pretty one-sided because he's not great at expressing himself and can still shy away from people he's interested in. POSSIBLY??? I'm really not sure. But he's definitely not a Levi.

Anything else?: Myrtle didn't like him nearly as much as he liked her. :^(

What do they look for in a person?:

Assholes. Which LMFAO ROSY THAT’S SUCH A STEREOTYPE, but I don’t mean someone who’s mean to her. Just Rosy is also an asshole and if she ever dated a sweet fluffy marshmallow Ribbonfishy she would either never be herself, or she would eat them alive. Idealists need not apply.

Sense of humor. But also don’t be too much funnier than her. Being a sarcastic grump is kind of Rosy’s thing ok don't you fucking outshine her.

Someone who can take care of their own damn self. This isn’t to say that she won’t take care of you, but she will not mother her significant other. That is an easy recipe for Too Weird.

Not a Dumbass. Until you get knocked up with twins when you’re like 22 and find yourself getting married to just a set of abs.

Okay but kind of an idiot still. She tends to overthink so much that she likes someone who can just be like, “Well this looks like fun, looks like you can take the night off brain.”
What do they find romantic?: LIKE ROSY KNOWS ROMANTIC. She’s actually going to need to be reminded of Valentine’s Day and then she won’t know if she’s supposed to get Chris anything or if they’re just ignoring it because they’re cynical butthead nerds. She mostly thinks it’s romantic if you… think of her? Or surprise her? Surprise her by going, “I was not in your presence and I thought of you,” and she will do that weird choking/blushing thing again, oh my god wow way to keep those expectations low, Ro.
Who do they have a crush on?: Rosy hates that Casey is so fucking hot and that she once spent an entire day aggressively making out with him and his abs.
Are they seeing someone right now?: WHY YES, YES SHE IS, IN CASE YOU HAVEN’T HEARD. She and Chris are now able to use their words to work things out without first being “anonymously” instigated to do something. So it’s going… better than expected? When Rosy first developed a small crush on Chris she was like, “Oh god, this is a bad idea, everyone knows he sleeps around and he’s into Levi, and also he’s on Sy’s team, this could turn out just terribly. YOU REPRESS THAT SHIT ROSEMARY IT’S A BAD IDEA.” But, hormones?? And then she “anonymously” bullied him into asking her to a dance??? Then it stopped being a small crush and she was in too deep, she couldn’t back out now.
Rosy is still waiting for things to go really off the rails. She really likes Chris and that’s mildly terrifying to her, because Rosy has trust issues and a violent angry tumor that grew so big they sorted it and made it Quidditch Captain, and that violent angry tumor has the same trust issues. She tries not to let it show so much how much she likes being around Chris, but she’s so not as good at hiding her emotions as she thinks, so when he comes in the room she lights up and smiles and gets all butterflies in her stomach and sadfashshgiprp she doesn’t know how to handle it.
Buuuut she’s starting to accept that she can occasionally let her guard down around Chris? and he’s not going to use it to hurt her?? (though also in the back of her mind is the thought that if she lets him find out her weaknesses and then they break up he can definitely use that against her), and she’s kind of relaxing into this idea of having a boyfriend and she likes it.
Even if she really has no fucking clue what she’s doing.
What are they like in a relationship?:

She’s more physically affectionate than you might expect, considering she doesn’t want people up in her personal space much usually. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to be close to people, it just means she sucks at it.

Possibly always on the lookout for something awful to happen and might be always ready for a fight.

Actually pretty good about Not Being a Weird Mom (Girl)friend. She would appreciate it if Chris didn’t get killed or expelled, but she doesn’t feel like she needs to be mothering him and telling him to stop being an idiot and don’t go camping and get eaten by ghost bears in the woods. Because the fact that he’s an idiot is one of the things that she likes most about him, goddammit rosemary.

Anything else?: I have a headcanon where the first boy she ever kissed was some nice boy at some big fancy dancy party when she was like 13 and then almost immediately afterwards he saw Sy out of the corner of his eye and disappeared and she was like, “Oh ok fuck you, now I’m gonna make sure he gets a death by Stoker.” Which I think means she was like “hey sy go deck this douche” instead of doing it herself so she wouldn’t chip a nail. But basically what I’m saying is fuck these guys.

What do they look for in a person?: She looks for strong people, with strong personalities. Maybe because it's easier to follow, but also because she thinks they need to be strong to handle her. She shies away from people who are blatantly honest or have no mouth filter, and bullies. She looks for kindness and understanding.
What do they find romantic?: She has kind of the kissing-in-the-rain idea of romance in her head. She has not had any sort of experiences in romance yet, just some kissing (thanks Grotto party!) but she has a very hollywood-esque idea of what romance is supposed to be like.
Who do they have a crush on?: Nothing concrete but Milo, Ennis, Harriet, and maybe Wilde

What do they look for in a person?: The handsome, debonair type. She likes a little mystery. She likes the quiet boys, the thinkers. Avery is drawn to people who like sports, but that isn't a requirement. She's very "i'm a hot grill, I need some hot boys to burnnnn" right now. Fortunately, Gooseberry is EXTREMELY well stocked on hot boys. I think she looks for the people with diverse backgrounds, the kind who are more likely to be understanding. She doesn't mind if they're outspoken or not, but she doesn't like bullies, or people who are overly competitive. She likes to have fun, she wants the people she's with to have fun too. Avery enjoys people who are light-hearted.
What do they find romantic?: Surprise gifts like flowers. She likes honestly, nothing more romantic than a guy who shares his feelings. Candles and walks through the park, fairy lights and picnics. She's simple in that sense, it doesn't take anything extravagant to make her happy. Make a blanket fort, add some christmas lights and you've created her perfect kind of romantical night.

What do they look for in a person?: Quiet. Penelope isn't particularly verbose and she isn't one to share *feelings* all that fast. She's drawn to people who are comfortable with silence. She likes to sit and hang out, not have to talk or entertain all the time. Someone comfortable and happy just to be in the presence of someone else without needing much else to go on. She wants someone who is patient, non-competitive (trust me, she's competitive enough for the both of them) although let's be real she's also probably the kind to like competing with her significant other... and kind. Someone she can trust.
What do they find romantic?: She doesn't really care for ~romance~ though she likes little gestures. Kisses to the forehead, small touches. Surprises.
Who do they have a crush on?: Etta, Diego, Zoey, Ryan, Sy (STILL, JFC), Robin, and she could see herself liking Wilde if she knew him better.
Are they seeing someone right now?: NO AND SHE HATES IT. But she's certainly not about to *tell* anyone she likes them ever again either.
What are they like in a relationship?: Probably just as bitchy and competitive as she does outside of a relationship. I think that was probably how it was like with her and Sy. Now, I think she might be a little more calm. A little more herself. Quiet, kind, more caring than she has been in the past.

What do they look for in a person?:
Oh boy does Diego ever have a type. Are you soft-spoken, polite and compassionate with a calm demeanor? Even Diego isn't oblivious to the fact that Tabitha, Cecil and Ravi have a lot of things in common. He looooves that softness and sense of serenity, but I think he also clicks well with people who are a little morose deep down, because so is he.

Really, though, Diego wants someone who makes him feel like a peer and who thinks he's smart and interesting. He pins his ego on what the other person thinks about him, so if they can make him feel good about himself he'll be head over heels in no time.

He also admires people with strong convictions, who are passionate about the things that are important to them, and just generally have a spine. This is because... he does not have much of a spine himself. Related, but he also likes people who are less promiscuous than him, because due to some awesome self-loathing, he tends to associate people who don't have sex as possessing strong moral fiber. This is a stupid, shitty standard he only holds himself to.

What do they find romantic?:
Talking, talking and more talking. Diego likes to express himself verbally, so the primary cornerstone of a romantic relationship with Diego is an interest in long, wordy conversations. This is the ideal kind of attention for him, which can probably become exhausting because he's always looking for feedback in the form of massive emotional conversations. This is also a necessity for being a close friend, but a romance with Diego just won't work if you're not willing to spend a lot of time conversing.

He also values doing things together a lot, and wouldn't be content with having super separate lives. Diego does not value space, to no one's great surprise. He finds hearing people talk about what they love and showing it to him to be very romantic. He also loves outdoorsy activities and thinks hikes and horseback riding and taking in the beauty of nature and other sappy stuff like that to be PEAK ROMANCE. Music is unsurprisingly a big romantic thing for him. Better believe he makes playlists and writes songs about whoever he's dating.

Who do they have a crush on?: Ravi's at the forefront of his mind right now. He's also had passing interest in Zoey, Cricket and Isaiah, and there was the whole Cecil Incident.

Are they seeing someone right now?: After last night's party, he and Ravi are... trying to work something out. All that's certain is that Diego's going to hold off on hookups and making out with people while this gets sorted out, so he's tentatively spoken for.

What are they like in a relationship?:
Gives a lot, but takes a lot too. He's attentive and affectionate, but needy and clingy. Like, wow. So needy. He's an emotional vampire, and if his SO's not willing to do a lot of emotional labor, then dating him is probably kind of overwhelming. He's also melodramatic, anxious and insecure, which means if he thinks their interest is waning he takes it hard. No to mention he's self-destructive and impulsive, so despite all of his dedication and passion, he's not actually all that reliable and fucks up a lot. Forgets promises, accidentally does things you specifically said you dislike, etc. He always feels REALLY BAD afterwards, but it's an uphill battle for him to be good. In the past, he's had a lot of relationships that burned bright and then faded really fast because of this.

However, he's very dedicated to the point of being a little passive. He lets the other person determine the terms of the relationship and bends over backwards to please them. Because of His Type™, he dedicates a lot of time and attention to trying to make their life fun and exciting and entertaining. He's so, so very invested in their happiness and satisfaction. He kind of needs to be told to chill out or he'll work himself into a tizzy and ruin things until he makes himself miserable (see: Tabitha). Diego loves being in love, though, so despite how worked up he gets, he's SO HAPPY being with them. THE HAPPIEST HE'S EVER BEEN.

And of course he wants to talk. He wants your attention. He wants your validation. Diego loves dramatic romantic gestures, which can be big and showy or just small and sappy. He's very into building moods and an aesthetic and doing romantic shit that sounds and looks good because he's a pretentious hipster.

Anything else?: Diego is the sort of guy who would impulsively propose to his high school sweetheart at 19 and suggest they elope. He should absolutely be told 'no'.
