quick quick hockey FYI

are you sick of hearing about hockey? TOO BAD. but i promise i'll be quick.

i've got to do the final balance for sunday's teams, so if anybody has a character they still want to sign up please do it by 7am MST friday! form is here -> http://asylums.insanejournal.com/gooseberry/127530.html

characters can sign up to play (or drop out) at any point in the season but please don't do so after the friday mornings before games so that i can try to keep teams as balanced as possible. i don't know why keeping them balanced is so important to me, it just is. (actually, i do know: it means i get to play with spreadsheets! this beauty ain't gonna balance herself.)

okbyeeee

Um! I've been tweaking my formula every time we do it, and I've finally decided that the fairest and simplest way to go is to just add the modifier as a bonus score. Depending on how much I want people's self-grade to matter, I'll change how much I want to roll (anywhere from 1d25 to 1d100).

The next time we do monthly bonding confetti bombs, I'll probably make it Self-score + 1d25 (maybe 1d30?), with a target of 40 to make it all the way? So the difference between someone scoring their character 2 and someone with 9 is substantial (a pair who each have a 10 is already halfway there), but that's fair if your characters are apparently such badasses. You're still at the mercy of RNG a little, but a lot less than if I was rolling 1d100.

(This also means, if we do it again, it's going to be much harder for the sophomores or seniors to finish all four levels but OAKES HAS BEEN TWEAKING THE GAME, you're all basically a free focus group for his new toy.)
