MEME: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

HOW THIS WORKS

In preparation for the 10 Year Reunion next weekend, this meme is for you guys to plot out exactly what happened over the past decade.

Be considerate and mildly realistic while plotting! Obviously, we all want our babies to be successful, but the MACUSA president isn't going to be a 25 year old, and your junior Auror did not kill a dozen Dark Wizards singlehandedly to rescue Snoop Crupp.

What happened after Gooseberry closed?:
- Gooseberry Alternative High School was officially shut down, and remained abandoned for two years.
- It was then reopened as the Merrill Memorial Research Institute, which is a facility dedicated to studying the surrounding area and funding unique projects for the betterment of the magical world. It attracts many brilliant minds, and Mrs. Bloom is constantly flooded by applicants seeking funding and research space.
- Yes, you may say one of your nerds is employed there now.
- There's housing available inside the lodge where classrooms have been converted to labs and office spaces, but nature has reclaimed the campsites. However, plenty of employees Apparate into work instead, because not everyone wants to live in the middle of the woods.
- Despite all these years of studying the unusual forest, no one is certain what makes it so strange. There are rare sightings of a white moose, but no one can confirm its existence, much less whether or not it's the same moose as before.
- The school is definitely still littered with ghosts, though, and there's a dedicated ghost research wing.
- Ms. Lilywhite and Ms. Vector reside there as research staff. They are rumored to be a couple, but are both very private women, so don't try asking them about it.
- Mr. Elmasry and Dr. Perry are engaged and currently reside in Washington, D.C.

Name: Fern Mufferaw
Age: 27
Occupation: Magizoologist specializing in dragons, particularly dragon rehabilitation
Residence: I’m not sure? Somewhere kinda remote, but still within apparating distance of a decently sized city.
Personal life: Still dating Heathcliff. He asks her to marry him once a year and eventually she’ll say yes. May have said yes already? Not sure how long she strings the poor boy along. Eventually, they have a kid who spends the first few years of her life roaring and trying to blow smoke because she thinks she’s a baby dragon.
After Gooseberry closed: Fern did the summer classes thing, if that happened, but still went to Ilvermorny in the fall. She said it was so she could coast while she got a few more credits in to make her school applications more competitive, but she for sure just wanted to follow her friends around for another year. She was sorted into Wampus.
After graduation: She went straight to like, magical veterinary school or whatever you call that. That probably took several years, and after, she traveled the globe working at different dragon reserves for like a year, getting specialized training with dragons.
Now as an adult: She now works on a dragon reserve within commuting distance of wherever is is that she settled down with Heathcliff. Sometimes she travels to consult at other reserves. At home, she rehabilitates baby & adolescent small breed dragons (which is why they live in the boonies). Heathcliff has an extensive garden, which baby dragons like to singe for fun.
Are they happy?: She’d probably shrug and smirk and say “eh” but the answer is yes.
