END GAME: SACRIFICES MEME

SACRIFICES

Endgame is fast approaching, and this meme will be used as an official reference with NPC mods to steer the course of your experience. Please be honest and decisive!

HOW THIS WORKS

  • During endgame, characters will periodically be faced with a choice: sacrifice something dear to them in order to get closer to saving their friends, or refuse and remain where they are.

  • These sacrifices will vary from character to character, and can range from the conceptual to the material. What happens will also depend on the NPC mod running the encounter. We want players to have some input on the course their adventure will take, so please make sure to fill this out for all characters that will be participating. Prioritize filling this out for characters you think you want to make rescuers first.

  • There will be a section for forms. Don't reply to the forms directly for plotting so that people can edit them. Instead...

  • Make a plotting comment to the section below with a link to your form so you can talk things out with your fellow players.

  • This is important because certain decisions you make will dramatically impact other players. Please be respectful and cooperate with them. If someone indicates that killing off your character would make theirs unplayable, try to compromise.

  • Re: character death: You are limited to 2 character deaths, but you can have more than two opt-in for death if you're not sure which of your characters you want to kill off. You can let RNG decide, and the rest of your characters will be immune once you've hit two character deaths.

TYPES OF SACRIFICES: IDEAS, DO'S AND DO NOTS
  • Heart: Your character must sacrifice something from your physical body.
    • Loss of a sense/physical ability, e.g. sight, hearing, speech, use of right hand, colourblindness, the ability to say anyone’s name.
    • Loss of actual body part, e.g. remove or damage an eye, ear, finger.
    • Loss of years. They give up a certain amount of their lifespan, and age up by x years. (Only age up, do not age down.)
    • Permanent change to physical appearance.
    • Anything that affects the physical body.
  • Eye: Your character must sacrifice something mental/emotional.
    • Memories. It could be a specific memory (e.g. your favorite childhood memory, your first kiss, your best day ever spent with your best friends) or general (e.g. all memories of someone important to you, memories of your entire senior year, memories of every Quidditch game you’ve ever played).
    • Knowledge/skills. Such as their ability to read and write, what they know about the mimics or the research they've done on the metaplot, how to duel, important spells, etc.
    • Emotional effects, like being unable to hide their feelings, being cursed with despair, or losing the ability to lie.
    • Anything that affects the mind or emotions.
  • Hand: Your character must give up a physical possession.
    • Their wand.
    • Their journal. (If a journal is lost, then it can be used by a mimic!)
    • Prized possessions, especially objects with sentimental value.
    • Things that aren’t literal objects but still a prized achievement. For instance, a Quidditch player’s contract to play for a certain team after school, a high achiever’s entire record of excellent grades, etc.
  • DO choose things that will challenge or even upset your characters! If you want to go hard, then go hard. If you want to play it more action-adventure, then do that! Have fun.

  • DON'T choose anything that would make your character unplayable, unless you want to remove them from play. If you remove their ability to walk, this will seriously hinder their progression. Likewise, if you choose to make them feel depressed, you might find you've written them into a corner.

  • DO plot with your friends! Seeing other characters suffering will have a big impact on the cast, so talk with people, build the story together.

  • DON'T make other people play things they don't want to. If your friend wants a lighter, less violent adventure, try to meet them halfway, or send your character into a different group that's interested in a darker tone.

Character Name:
Opt-in for Death: Yes/No. You can have as many as two of your characters "permanently" die. If you answer yes, your character may be killed in a random encounter or by a mimic. If you'd like to plan it in a particular way ("I really want Suzy to die at the hand of Amber's mimic." or "I want it to happen unexpectedly to shock their group") say so here. If you don't have plans, then it may come up in RNG.
Random Journal Loss: Yes/No/Ask me when it comes up. Would you be alright with your character possibly losing their journal? If so, you can play on the journal network as their mimic, but your character will no longer be able to participate in journal conversations.

Would you like them to be separated from the party? Break their arm or otherwise be injured? Face some particular obstacle important to their personal arc? It's much more likely to happen if you tell us here.
HARD NO'S: If there is anything you do not want your character to endure or see, say so here.
Anything else?:
Plotting Link: Link your comment from the plotting section, so you can still edit your meme.
An angsty gif: Optional! Slice of life is over bring on the tears.

Character Name: Ariadne Flint
Opt-in for Death: No she's a lesbian and we can't kill her
Random Journal Loss: Ask me

HEART - PHYSICAL
Which of their senses would they struggle most with losing?: Hearing.
How important is their appearance to them?: This varies, because she is fairly vain by nature. But I think the more she suffers and sees other people suffering, the less important it'd become to her. So early on, very important. Later in the plot, less so.
What would be the worst place to injure them?: Her hands.
Other suggestions for this category?: --

EYE - MENTAL
Describe their most treasured memory: Sneaking off from the cast party for Micah's play to kiss Jade. Watching Star Wars with her friends. Meeting Kenzie for the first time. Her brother helping her take the super-ugly wallpaper in her bedroom in his flat down last summer. Getting the killing blow on a big boss in Casey's D&D campaign. Ms. Rhee telling her she got an A on her transfig final this year.
Who is the most important person to them?:
  • Jade, obviously, always the most important to her.
  • Her brother, and Bash and Lucas. (As a side note she feels slightly closer to Bash than she does to Lucas, and honestly? Would hate it so much if she had to tell either of them or Jade that.)
  • The rest of her friends: Calvin, Hazel, Zach, Micah, Wilde, Kenzie, Ulysses, Ramon, Sofia.
  • Mostly everyone else can just get fucked, although she does still have a soft spot for Madison.
What skill/talent are they most proud of?: Writing, both for her vocabulary and her forgery skills. Lying. Horseback riding. Everything she's learned cheerleading.
Other suggestions for this category?: Yeah she'd HATE not being able to lie like... so much.

    HAND - MATERIAL
How would they cope without their wand?: Fairly well. Even when she has it on her she relies more on her wits than her talent as a witch, and she could work around not having it.
What is their most prized possession?: The necklace Jade gave her. Her computer. The longhand manuscript of the first novel she wrote. Her tarot cards. Her clothes, particularly gifts her friends have given her: boots from Ramon, her prom dress from Sofia, the coat from Calvin and Micah.
What personal achievement are they most proud of?: Her work on the school newspaper. Interning at the Daily Prophet. Her good grades this year after she barely passed last year.
Other suggestions for this category?: TBD

Requests: I thiiink I'm going to want her to kill Zach's mimic but if anyone else has strong feelings about this we can talk!! I figure Zach's mimic is gonna have a lot of ground to cover bcos everyone loves the good boy.
HARD NO'S: doooon't want her totally forgetting about jade or her friends
    Anything else?: TBD.
