Character: Lucas Kowalski
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Lucas is actually pretty chill about gross stuff. Outwardly calm, at first, but definitely going to be super anxious about it the more he thinks about it. Will Catastrophize, as is his wont. Will definitely tell everyone like pretty much immediately.
Would you like to choose one other character to accompany them?: Zach. I didn't ask Cam but I have gotten eyes welling emotional about No More Chickabros 3 times in the last week and I want to do stuff with each of them before I can't anymore.
Anything else?: Internalizing that the game is ending has been very hard on me, full disclosure.

Character: Nia Papadakis
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Put on the Head Girl face while internally freaking the FUCK out. Insist on telling faculty and alerting the senior Prefects and then junior and soph Prefects. Go into The Forest Is Going To Kill Us mode.
Would you like to choose one other character to accompany them?: Oh my god this is hard. Addy, Ursula, Clem, Phi, Casper, or Ferdie UHHHHHH don't make me pick.

Character: Georgiana Mills
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: For all of her compassion and empathy, Georgie is kind of a detached person. When faced with something upsetting, she doesn’t think fast or react on instinct, she takes a step back, a deep breath, and thinks about the correct and proper way to handle this issue. Or what seems like the proper way to handle this issue. According to her, the weirdo who thinks cars should have wheels on the roof and everyone loves flower crowns.

Beyond that, Georgie values honesty and transparency. She would want to distribute information about the discovery calmly, without panicking, but would not take to anyone telling her to maybe keep it quiet for now. It would be a step toward her feeling responsible for her disastrous children, and would show the side of her that’s not just a flower child doing yoga in the flower fields and running barefoot marathons, but the mom of 39 very bad kids.
Would you like to choose one other character to accompany them?: I’m open to requests, but I’m currently thinking Georgie and her random swan friend who is not Reid but she’s very convinced is Reid.

Character: Hazel Keating
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: In the moment she'd handle it fine, and it'd just pump her up even more in terms of Being Ready and making sure all of her friends are ready too (the discovery will definitely be shared around). This feeds into the preparing for war mentality that's been building over the course of the year. Depending on the severity she'd have nightmares later... hey Fern, want to come sleep in her bed tonight??

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: In the moment, she would take charge. She needs to tell someone what to do, to make sure they know she’s perfectly fine and no one needs to worry because Rosemary’s got this. To someone who kind of knows her, it would be easy to trust that she’s got it under control, just like Rosy always has things under control. To someone who actually knows her, it would be obvious that she’s about to go full on high strung monster mode. Get her some Ambien if you ever want her to sleep again, a mouth guard if you want her to stop grinding those teeth, and if you break a fucking rule she’s going to actually literally bite your head off. But I tell you what, not a single Ribbonfin would ever leave camp without waterproof flares and a first aid kit ever again.

Character: Casper Kim
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Casper's top priority is and always has been protecting his fellow students, particularly his friends, so he would take finding something like this quite seriously. He'd put on his I can handle anything face, bring the news to Ms. Rhee and Nia (though he'd push to make it widely available and would tell his friends regardless), and prepare for the worst. All his guard would be up and he'd be resolved not to let there be a repeat of last year...even if part of him knows there's only so much he can control. In short: He Hates This.

Character: Rupert Wick
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Attempt desperately to act like he's cool and collected about the whole thing but in the end will probably cry/barf, because he isn't around gross or disturbing things that often. He'd buck up afterwards, and would become aggressively bossy about everyone being safe all the time.

Character: Danny Notoriano
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: A lot of cursing. Pretty standard teen finding horrifying shit in a horror movie reaction - horrified, angry, disgusted and trying and failing not to seem afraid. He's always just kind of like, "Fucked up if true" at the metaplot, so having something tangible happen to him could be interesting since he'd be forced to react in a way that isn't just scoffing and rolling his eyes.

Character: Riley Stamper
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: I’m assuming you don’t want someone who will dive head first into panic, but if you do, I got your girl. Riley has taken a very I’m Fucking Invincible approach to the scary forest shit, because the stuff with the play was more amusing than anything, and the mimics are flattering, and last year she got to sleep and then get carried home by two of her favorite people. Putting her face-to-face with something disturbing and real would lead to one big drop in that façade. She wouldn’t even try to get attention from it for a good hour or so, she would just be, like, freaked the fuck on out.
And then she’d eat some jolly ranchers.

Character: Heathcliff Lacey
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Not well. Heathcliff's a simple, ultimately soft-hearted guy and he doesn't like thinking about all of the spooky stuff that happens around campus, let alone getting involved with it. If he found something like this alone, he'd be shaken up and get the hell out of there and tell his friends. If he found something like that with someone else, he'd probably end up following their lead and still be pretty transparently shaken up despite trying to act tough. He's been trying to deal with all of this more seriously after a year full of bad premonitions and serious conversations with Fern, so this could finally force him to get his game face on. You know, eventually.

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: This year has been something of a trial by fire when it comes to being a prefect, but she's determined to continue taking things in stride as much as she can. Despite being horribly grossed out/freaked out, she'd do her best to get as much information from the scene, and she'd immediately report it. Time to worry a whole lot more!!!

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Hasn't had much interaction with metaplot, so similar to Danny would have to suddenly recognize that this is real and real bad. Also similar to Danny, would curse a lot. There'd be enough panic in her that she'd probably just sort of stand there for a bit before processing that something should probably be done. She'd cover the eyes of anyone with her, unless it was Danny....

Character: Cole Moss
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Without an element of immediate danger, Cole can take most things in stride and would react immediately with quiet shock. He'd take in the details of everything and probably linger there longer than is actually smart unless someone else pulled him away and he wouldn't keep it a secret. Prepare for another confused post about bizarre phenomenons. He might not be that worried until his friends reacted and gave him reason to worry. If there's someone else along with him, he'll probably take some cues from them.
Would you like to choose one other character to accompany them?: Paris or Calvin? He could also go solo and just scare the shit out of his friends upon returning with this bizarro story.

Character: Jefferson Key
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Jeffy has had plenty of interaction with the metaplot, and yet he tries so hard to ignore the more disturbing aspects of it. He knows Bad Things happen, he’s in the Seance Crew and Juniors wards, things make their way to him, but for most of the year, my boy’s been just SWAMPED with shit to do and it was easy to bury himself in that. Now that the end of the year is here, he’s out of Quidditch and plays and a lot of his TA duties, and this is just… all that would be in his head now. And Jeffy doesn’t think very fast on his feet, so at the time, he would be filled with indecision on what are we supposed to do?????? If the person he was with had orders for him, though, and especially if those orders involved running really fast, he would obey in a flash.
Would you like to choose one other character to accompany them?: This is a really weird one, but I think it would be really funny if he and Ari were discussing high fantasy trash books together and found this. Alternatively, Essie or a Chickabro.

Character: Lachlan Galbraith
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Lachlan doesn't do well under pressure and something like this would immediately overwhelm and terrify him, so there's a good chance that he'd be relying on someone else to call the shots while he panics or cries or faints or something. Depending on what the circumstances are, of course. He'd be all for going straight to the teachers (likely Ms. Vector) and would probably need to spend a night in the infirmary or.

He doesn't need this during finals, universe.

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: So Nisha's going to be like "Wow fuckt up??" And she's going to do her best to rewrite reality to soften whatever she's seeing. Will probably attempt to not rationalize it but blow it up so fantastic in her head that it becomes a joke. She'll follow all that up with a semi-incoherent unwarded journal entry, but I also see her warding Reid and Georgie or Archie and kind of airing out anxiety over what she's seen.

Character: Jonathan Wilde
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Some cursing. A second to process. Then off to the relevant authorities. Wilde isn't in a good place right now. He doesn't feel right about almost anything, but most of it is his own lingering relationship angst. An event like this would bring him back to earth a bit and remind him that there are more pressing things to worry about right now, directly in front of and around him.

Character: Avery Davenport
How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: Avery would be very logical and bussiness-like at first. That sort of shock that keeps you quiet but hyper focuses you. She's typically been that way under pressure - kinda just ok, what do we need to do? She'd know that losing it at the very moment of discovery is not going to be the best idea, and she'll probably be fine for like, a hot minute or two before it really sinks in. Then there will likely be some freaking out and tears :( Arch-wise, Avery has felt pretty fine and safe and whatever during this whole process. She hasn't had any involvement in meta plot at all, so she's like "what's everyone so freaked out about? :D?" The longer it's been (esp since the brief mimic thing that was just embarassing and not scary) the more safe she's been feeling. This would be a great warning for end-game for her and remind her she - and everyone else - are not invincible.

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: My very worst child. Dinah would be immediately fascinated, tamp down any feelings, and probably try to fucking draw the thing. She’s always had a kind of wall between Reality and the Reality of the Dinah Danger Zone, and that wall will not come tumbling down just yet. This would chip away at the wall, seep into her dreams, give her a blanket of anxiety that can only be solved by shaving her head and carving sweet magical runes into it with a unicorn horn, but the wall would stay standing. For now.

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: One (1) very quiet panic attack in which he just stands and stares and is generally a burden on the person with him. Three (3) very bad attempts at writing a song to handle this. Yelling at anyone who tries to help him, including his cat. Drinking a lot of coffee so he doesn’t sleep. Losing at Mario Kart. In general, poorly.

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?:
Disgusting doesn't bother Fern. Blood and vomit won't make her blink. She would readily babysit squonks again. Her reaction to something "disturbing" would depend on what about it makes it disturbing. She's generally calm and collected, at least outwardly if not internally, but if anything happens to an animal she's going to be furious. Afterwards, her first instinct would be to consult with the seance crew, though she would likely be for sharing it with faculty and the other students. She's fine, though. She's definitely just sleeping in Hazel's bed because they're in love and not because they're scared. And all girls sleep with knives under their pillows right? It's fine. This is totally normal.

How would they handle discovering something upsetting/disturbing?: She likes to feel that she's ready to handle anything these days, since she's a prefect and she's gotta keep a good face on, but she's got a pretty low tolerance for squicky and spooky stuff. In the moment: probably not too coolly, possible shrieking. Long-term: she'd tell Hightower and whoever else she thought needed to know (Nia & Ferdie or all the prefects depending on what it was!).
