Character Voice Meme

Let's talk about what our characters sound like in everyday conversation!! Here are some cool references:
And here is a form:
Character Name:
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Does your character have a deep voice? A high pitched one? A vocal fry? Do they speak quickly or slowly?
Accent: Where are they from and how strong is their accent? Do they actively try to sound like they're from somewhere else?
Register: Does your character use a lot of slang? Are they preoccupied with having perfect grammar? Do they try to use the biggest words they can think of?
Quirks: Any idiosyncrasies of speech. A catch phrase, a stutter, a tendency to mumble.
Singing Voice: How is it? I mean, we all want to know.
Anything Else?:
Post a Cute Gif: The only reason I do anything, ever.

FORMS GO HERE!!
Archimedes
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Archie's voice hasn't dropped yet, and it probably cracks sometimes when he gets worked up. He talks pretty quickly in short statements, and is notably awkward. He's self-conscious about his lack of charisma because his dad's super critical of how bad he is at explaining himself or if he sounds polite enough. He does sound like his PB (soft-spoken but very dour) since I made Archie juuuust to use this kid. here is an example!
Accent: He's from Michigan's Upper Peninsula! Archie has the barest breath of a Yooper accent, but his dad scolded him for saying "eh" or "you know" too much because he thought it made him sound unintelligent. As a result, it's been mostly drilled out of him, especially since he stopped interacting with any locals after he started going to boarding school.
Register: Very formal, almost no slang. His grammar's not perfect, though, and his speech doesn't flow very well.
Quirks: Clipped. Stilted. Very pointed. He speaks like he writes, with lots of awkward stops and starts. If he sounds like he's overthinking everything he says and carefully tiptoeing through the conversation, it's because he is! Sometimes he can relax a little, but it doesn't happen much.
Singing Voice: Weak and wobbly. Tends to sing off pitch.
Anything Else?: He also speaks fluent Finnish. And this ended up being a bummer and talking about his dad too much OOPS.
Post a Cute Gif: I love his big nose.
Calvin
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Calvin has a very distinct voice. It's remarkably high for his size and age (example) much to his chagrin. When he gets emotional or excited it gets even higher. He's a big talker, though, and uses a lot of big words and long sentences. He's well spoken and likes to think of himself as clever and silver-tongued. Which... maybe to an extent, but he's very uncharismatic, which definitely tanked any chance of him being an actual smooth talker.
Accent: Calvin's from Bath, and sports a West Country accent. It's the accent Samwise Gamgee had in LotR. His accent isn't suuuuper strong since Bath is more posh, but he definitely sounds like an adorable farmer pirate.
Register: Calvin's deep in the proper Wizarding world, just a hair shy of Pureblood, so he doesn't use any modern slang unless he's parroting a friend. When he does, it tends to sound clunky on him. He also doesn't swear unless he's very angry.
Quirks: There are some West Country sayings that Calvin probably used upon arriving, but stopped because they sound weird to American ears. Examples are calling friends "my lover" or proclaiming things he likes are "gurt lush."
Singing Voice: I mean.... his PB was on Glee. I don't imagine Calvin is actually that practiced since he doesn't enjoy singing, but he has a pretty voice and unique range.
Anything Else?: I talk the most about Calvin's voice since it's so unusual.
Post a Cute Gif:
Nisha
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Nisha's voice is naturally low, a solid alto, but she tends to fluctuate pitch a lot so it does a lot of climbing and falling. She is a loud and animated speaker, and though she doesn't talk with her hands, they're almost always doing something fidgety. Her cadence is sort of jazzy, inconsistent but pleasant enough to be almost musical. She speaks quickly - fast enough that her words often mush together in her mouth - but intersperses that with a lot of long drawn out words or sharp staccato sounds.
Accent: Nisha's family left Huntington when she was only seven or eight, but she purposefully speaks with a West Virginian accent as a point of pride, leaning into it when she's trying to be particularly annoying. She also uses a lot of regional slang, and is definitely a yinzer. So, it's twangy, hillbilly, with a sort of nasally sound on vowels.
Register: Nisha is brilliant but is a somewhat inarticulate speaker. There's a marked difference between Nisha at comfort and Nisha speaking to an authority figure. When she's with friends, she has absolutely no regard for grammar, babbles, uses a ton of slang and curses a lot. In the presence of adults, particularly intimidating adults, she's clipped and careful with pronunciation and grammar, giving short and to-the-point responses. Despite having parents who are dismissive of muggle culture, Nisha, herself, is basically a memelord, and speaks as though she is muggleborn.
Quirks: Nisha has a lot to say and doesn't calculate how much time she'll need to say it, so her words often mash together into weird contractions. She can be a bit hard to understand, particularly when worked up, as a result. Nisha abuses the hell out of 'like' and 'dude' and says 'oh my god' as one word - ohmigod. She also...just kind of makes a lot of non-word noises. "Meh" and "Bluh" and "Wuh" - just, tons of weird interjections, many of them meaningless. Talks with her mouth full. All. The. Time.
Singing Voice: Average, untrained, but pleasantly husky.
Anything Else?: I spent way too much time gif hunting.

Sofia
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: It's somewhere on the middle-deep side. Not really raspy, but idk how to explain it, it's got some texture. She basically sounds like her pb.
Accent: Pretty basic, sometimes more Spanish when she wants.
Register: She has a potty mouth, though she tries to tone it down when she's of sound mind. Says "like" a lot, but tries not to sound like a valley girl.
Quirks: She's adopted some of Phin's slang, so she might throw "love" or something else British into a sentence.
Singing Voice: hurrr
Anything Else?: Not off the top of my head.
Post a Cute Gif:
Ariadne
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Ari has a low voice and usually speaks in a dry monotone, although she's definitely capable of speaking more expressively when she's relaxed and with her friends.
Accent: She speaks in an extremely posh British accent that she taught herself. Her natural accent is East Anglian (and probably even thicker than this guy's because she also grew up rural) and she slips into that one when she gets drunk. She's also now capable of doing a very convincing American accent. If people didn't already know she was British, she'd probably just speak in the American accent now.
Register: She makes a conscious effort to use American slang and spellings when she writes. Her prose writing is extremely melodramatic, which occasionally peeks through in her speaking.
Quirks: She prefers writing to talking to people face-to-face immensely. A little awkward, she'll sometimes stall or get tripped up in conversations, especially if she's upset.
Singing Voice: I gave her her original PB's singing voice. Not really suited to musicals, but Ari's never going to be a rock musician, alas.
Anything Else?: I don't imagine that any of my characters sound like their PBs because I'm a monster. I imagine Ari sounds like Daisy Ridley.
Post a Cute Gif:
Grace
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: I can't explain anything
Accent: Probably has a hint of a Manhattan accent or something.
Register: She tries to spell everything out and not use slang unless she's in a hurry or lazy.
Quirks: Mumbles under her breath when she's annoyed.
Singing Voice: herreeee
Anything Else?: I'm so lame I just link to youtube and say "here"
Post a Cute Gif:
Spencer
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Very teenagery and highly expressive. You know every emotion passing through Spencer's head because it's all right there in his voice. Loud, obnoxious, in your face, etc. I'm... super garbage and imagine him sounding like Ryuji from P5 most of the time. :/
Accent: No particular accent beyond North American.
Register: Lots of slang, loose grammar, flagrant disregard for propriety. He's capable of being more strict with his speech but... doesn't. When he's in the skating world he tends to clean up so that he can fit the image of what judges want a little better. Of all my characters, I think he swears the most.
Quirks: Any time there's a phrase like "going to" or "want to" he usually uses gonna or wanna. Says "y'know?" a lot.
Singing Voice: Solid and pretty, but nothing special.
Anything Else?: Garbage boy very hard to ignore. He speaks Korean at home with his grandparents.
Post a Cute Gif:
Re: Spencer
Re: Spencer
Eileen
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: In general, pretty middle ground pitch-wise, but when she's emoting her vocal range expands and she's relatively expressive. Despite this, her cadence is rather even-keeled and when she's not being ridiculous she sounds well-spoken. She speaks with confidence and doesn't often slow or stop to think about what she's saying. Idk how to explain voices??
Accent: She's from Northern California and has that general, nondescript American accent. It's not anything super exciting. When she speaks Korean, she sounds like a native speaker (because... she is).
Register: Rocks 'hella,' but generally uses more formal words and doesn't often abbreviate or shorten things. Not afraid of cussing, but doesn't do it that often.
Quirks: She makes a lot of faces when she's talking, adding to her expressiveness.
Singing Voice: Pretty average, though she typically only sings when she's trashed so then it's... a lot worse. She's not shy about it either way, though.
Anything Else?: In going to see what Eileen's PB sounds like I found this great video of her presumably being a ridiculous shithead (with bonus Griffin).
Post a Cute Gif:
Lucas
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Lucas has a very deep voice and a tendency to speak very softly, making him somewhat hard to hear in noisy rooms. There's not a whole lot of fluctuation in his pitch, and he's overall sort of monotone. Lucas is a careful speaker, his cadence deliberate though not slow, with lots of hesitations and long pauses.
Accent: Lucas is from Atlanta, Georgia, but his southern accent is faint and mixed up with a few Great Lakesisms from his parents, both of whom are from Michigan. Most of the time, he's careful to sound as close to Standard American English as he can, but being around other people with pronounced southern accents causes him to slip into a drawl. He's been known to drop a "bless your heart" from time to time.
Register: Sort of a mess. Lucas is careful about grammar and pronunciation, but he's also a mumbler. He uses large words a lot, but tends to also give monosyllabic answers to things if he can help it. He doesn't curse much, and is more likely to say "Gosh" than "Goddamn." He is always polite.
Quirks: Oh boy. Okay. Lucas has an anxious stutter. When he's nervous, words get caught in his mouth and you can see him struggling to get them out. He doesn't speak with a lot of confidence, and statements are cut with a lot of "ums" and "uhs." When couching statements, or trying to buy time thinking about what he wants to say, he uses 'you know' a lot. Just, in general, Lucas uses a lot of filler phrases like "I mean" but doesn't actually use 'like' at all (this is a challenge for me, writing him, because I use like to excess). Lucas also has a very, very faint lisp that he worked on as a child. Now it mostly only manifests when he's really engaged in a topic and speaking quickly. He always notices it and you can tell because it throws him off and he makes faces at himself when he does it.
Singing Voice: You are never, ever going to get Lucas to sing for real. He's far too shy. But his voice has a beautiful, clear timbre and he'd be quite talented if he actually gave it a shot. Vaguely Bing Crosby-esque.
Anything Else?: spending ENTIRELY too much time looking at gifs.

Re: Lucas
Re: Lucas
Rosemary
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Not particularly high, very even, very dry, especially when she's talking to someone she's comfortable around. She speaks quickly, with a lot of confidence, even when she doesn't have that actual confidence. There's not a lot of fluctuation to her voice, though obviously she gets really fucking mad and yells plenty. She does switch modes and go into a customer service type voice when talking to people she's put in her "my children" category, and that's higher, with a little more inflection, to try and make herself seem more approachable.
Accent: She's a southern California girl, and I don't think she really has much of any accent. She does throw around "like" and "dude" a lot, though.
Register: I imagine her mother trained her to never fall into speech patterns that made her sound weak, so no California girl uptalking, don't ask for permission, never start a sentence with an apology. She tries to always use proper grammar, which can sometimes come across as stiff and awkward and pretentious, but that fits because she's all of those things. It does kind of create a dissonance in journals when trying to communicate her dryness while also using proper grammar, which results in me spending 10 minutes fussing over a damn question mark.
Also, she swears a lot more than really makes sense for her, but I blame that on Sy.
Quirks: Almost everything she says is sarcastic. She cannot turn it off. And when she throws Spanish words into an otherwise English sentence, she's the douche saying tortilla with the proper goddamn accent.
Singing Voice: I honestly don't think she could carry a tune in a bucket so don't ask.
Anything Else?: My default facial expression when I'm writing Rosy is deadpan and disdainful.
Post a Cute Gif: I'm sure I've used this one before.
Â
Zach
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: A lot of my characters have a "distinct voice" in my head, but Zach's is the only one I can "hear" and that's because he basically sounds like me doing an impression of Griffin McElroy. His voice has dropped, but it's still on the higher side and can best be described as "excitable." Lots of EMPHASIS, and he tends to go up and down in pitch a lot. Also, Zach's normal speaking voice is pretty loud, but it's clear when when he's stressed out because it peters out to nothing.
Accent: He's from Tacoma, WA. and to my ear, people from the PNW have a perfectly neutral American accent. So I don't have very much to say here.
Register: Zach likes to play around with language, can be caught making up words or bringing back some antiquated grammar form, just for shits and giggles. He tends to sound playful and dramatic regardless of company, and sterner or more formal adults may perceive him as immature or silly.
Quirks: Big gestures!!! His whole body talks.
Singing Voice: It's bad! He can pull off a decent talk-singing character voice song, but PLEASE don't assign him anything more complicated than that because he's NOT very good at HITTING NOTES. He likes to sing though and has fun with it, in a very dad way.
Anything Else?: I just realised I've had more than 600 calories worth of coconut water today, which is probably TOO MUCH, but in my defence, it tastes VERY nice.
Post a Cute Gif:
Ursula
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Ursula's on the higher end of an alto and speaks in a slow, careful manner. Her voice doesn't carry nearly the same level of disdain that it did last year. When she's relaxed around friends, her voice picks up considerably more warmth. She mostly sounds like her PB (in general pitch), but maybe a little lower and less vocal fry.
Accent: Ursula grew up in blue collar Pittsburgh around Italian-American muggles and was absolutely a yinzer until she moved to LA around age six. She was teased mercilessly for her accent and worked hard to suppress it. Now her accent is more of a generic American bougie accent. Very la-di-da. No uptalking.
Register: Ursula's generally very formal and stilted in her speech, carefully picking out each word. Her grammar skills are likely better than my own and she absolutely abuses her vocabulary skills to pepper her speech with unnecessary adjectives to sound more sophisticated. She avoids coarse language, but does drop the occasional swear. I imagine she'd be thrilled to plopped in the middle of some courtly intrigue costume drama.
Quirks: She makes so many faces when she talks. And she said "ugh" all the time last year. All the Pittsburghese is pretty well stomped out of her system, but her mother still speaks with that accent and she could do a good mockery of it. Buuut, she'd probably need to be tipsy to be convinced to do it.
Singing Voice: Untrained. Not the best at carrying a tune. (Her PB is much better than she is.)
Anything Else?: I make faces while I write her and then have to search through her 250 fucking icons to find the one I was imagining.
Post a Cute Gif: I have no idea what I've used at this point.
Riley Mae
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Vvvvvvery affected, high-pitched, cutesy voice. Riley leans hard into being as cute and seemingly helpless as possible so people will help her, pay attention to her, and think she's adorable. When she's upset, it just goes even higher, until she's screeching and only dogs can hear her.
Accent: Alaskans have the generic PNW accent, except they say snow machine instead of snowmobile because they're sociopaths. She does tend to copy a lot of California-isms that she picks up from any time she goes to visit her mom's family in San Diego, because Riley desperately wishes she was anything other than Alaskan.
Register: Riley uses a LOT of slang, all of which she picks up from people here at school because she's not getting it from Otter Point. She swears plenty, throws a lot of Spanish around (out of my two Spanish speakers, she's the less fluent one and also the one who uses it the most), and has never in her life cared about grammar.
Quirks: Says booboo, baby, cutie, calls herself mama, talks about butts a LOT, and can sometimes figure out some clever word play. It's not on purpose.
Singing Voice: I can't find a satisfactory example, but high and sugary sweet, suited more to pop, kind of like a Disney actor-turned-singer before getting autotuned. She's been practicing plenty for the play, so she can at least carry a tune by now, and hell yeah she can project.
Anything Else?: My Riley-writing face is a wrinkled nose, like someone just put their gross mud feet up on the seat next to me.
Post a Cute Gif:
Wilde
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Wilde speaks in a kind of scratchy, self-possessed mid-tone. He's not unpleasant to listen to, but tends to sound bored and disinterested even when emotional. He does have a touch of very stereotypical skater "dude-ness" when he uses certain slang, and it's not even completely ironic. Here's his PB reading a bad poem -- just add more Midwestern nasal-ness and exaggerated vowels.
Accent: "Standard." Wilde occasionally sounds like a Lot in that special Chicago way -- his parents both have that inexplicable accent that exists yet doesn't exist -- but not often. When he speaks Spanish he has a heavy lisp, like his grandmother.
Register: "Dude." "My man." "Rad." "Sick." "What up." But Wilde... could use a lot of big words. In all honesty, he sounds a lot different in academic or teaching/learning situations than he does just hanging out or on the pitch: more serious, longer sentences, phrasing pulled directly from books or poems.
Quirks: Wilde is the type of person to sigh audibly when annoyed. He huffs like a little hedgehog. He also curses a lot.
Singing Voice: There's a lot of Wavves on his playlist, so I imagine him sounding like this guy but somehow worse. And also probably drunk, or trying to be funny. So there's that.
Anything Else?: ♥ HOW FUN
Post a Cute Gif: typicalexpression.gif that I ALMOST FORGOT
Hazel
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Hazel tends to be excitable, so she talks a little fast and with obvious pep - this enthusiasm ticks the tone of her voice up a bit higher, so when she does actually just talk like a normal person there's a noticeable drop. Her voice can get a little hoarse when she gets too excited. Please listen to Dove get overly excited about Bash's PB's splits (2:07 is another solid point of that video) and just imagine she talks faster most of the time. She has a bit of a melodic cadence.
Accent: The tiniest hint of Texas twang, but it's subtle and only comes out on particular words. In general, she just has your standard American accent.
Register: Lots of shortened words (totes, obvs, etc.) Also, a lot of goofy insult-y words (dickbutt, dingleberry, etc.)
Quirks: She giggles a lot, and draws out words to either fake whine, or in an attempt to soften things like requests.
Singing Voice: We're all well aware of Dove Cameron's singing ability, but I refused to give Hazel that talent :,) She sings a little off-key. It's honestly probably pretty cute??
Anything Else?: She can convincingly fake a British accent since her father is British, but she's only really ever done an over-exaggerated one to pick on Calvin, probably.
Post a Cute Gif:
Madison
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Madison has a lower voice than you'd expect, but.... Other than that, it's... all very typical. Umm!! What!! OHmigod. Everything sounds like a little bit like gossip. A lot of sentences sound like questions even though they aaaaren't? Like, wow.
Accent: Madison has a fairly unremarkable accent, but there's some Bostonian flair to it (like this sweet human). Her mother is constantly harping on her about her accent in Croatian, which sounds increasingly American.
Register: Madison does use some slang, especially around certain people -- she is very very much the type of person who will deliberately present a bit differently based on who she's trying to fit in with or impress. I imagine she tries to sound a bit more educated and serious when she's around her family, for multiple reasons. Anyone who's visited the Ives home on the east coast has probablyyyy been a bit weirded out by the difference. What's real, Madison????
Quirks: Madison has a Scary Voice that comes out when she's angry, scared, or trying to get a point across to someone. The Voice is deep, direct, cold, and oddly authoritarian. The Voice asks no questions. The Voice Must Be Heard. She's also very much a giggler.
Singing Voice: Self-conscious. Madison could be an interesting mezzo if she'd ever tried, but she hates singing. Even Happy Birthday is difficult -- she does the thing where you part-speak part-whisper part-sing.
Anything Else?: ♥
Post a Cute Gif:
Georgiana
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Georgie definitely has a very high voice, but it's more natural than Riley's. She talks really fast when she's excited, in a lot of run on sentences, then stops and thinks for a long time. It's like she forgot she was talking to someone. She often sounds really happy and excited about pretty much everything, which helps make her seem like more of a pushover than she actually is.
Accent: Pretty flat and unremarkable. She's from rural Montana, but the community she grew up in has people from all over, so she didn't pick up any specific regional accent or sayings.
Register: She uses a lot bigger words than you might expect, and can kind of sound properly fucking educated once in a while, but then she doesn't really care for all this grammar nonsense. Her essays are probably a fucking mess. When she's thinking, she'll let out an audible "hmmmm," the length of which correlating to just how hard she's thinking. Doesn't swear, though. There's no need for that!!!
Quirks: She uses a lot of gestures when she speaks. Her mom's boyfriend is deaf and she knows some ASL, but her household has kind of developed a multilingual/gestural communication technique that just means she knocks over glasses whenever she tries to talk at dinner.
Singing Voice: She could sing a lullaby and sound very cute and not off key, but there's no strength to it.
Anything Else?: My Georgie-writing face is eyebrows up, eyes wide, very attentive, usually with my lips pursed.
Post a Cute Gif:
Nia
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Nia is another alto. Her voice is even, with a husky, gravelly sound and a very, very pronounced vocal fry. She is always loud, her tone perky, wavering between clipped matter-of-fact and sing-song. She's...sort of Detroit Fran Drescher TBH.
Accent: Typical Midwestern American English with some valley girl thrown in.
Register: My notes for Nia included "Drunk Girl with a Masters in English" and that's about right. She's incredibly well spoken and does her best to adhere to the prescriptive rules of grammar, but she's also incredibly vulgar.
Quirks: Nia is a Linda Belcher. She is prone to breaking into song, narrating what she or other people are doing in quickly belted lyrics. She also snorts when she laughs about 60% of the time. She's a hummer and a whistler and a drummer. Her fidgeting is mostly under control, but don't let her idle or she'll get annoying.
Singing Voice: A trained alto. Nia is a belter, with a powerful, clear voice.
Anything Else?: She understands Hindi and speaks a wee bit of it, but only JUST enough to sort of keep up with her maternal grandparents.
Post a Cute Gif: I have to make all my own Ira Dubey gifs, now.
Bash
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Cameron Boyce's voice and pitch are honestly pretty decent for how I think Bash sounds. (And he full-body laughs. Which I also appreciate.) Bash talks quickly. Dear lord, he talks quickly. Easily fast enough to regularly smash words together. (For instance: 'if you want to' is 'ify'wanna' and 'got a lot of' is often 'gotalotta'.) He's very enthusiastic and emotes/inflects way too much. There's a lot of hand-gesturing.
Accent: Bash has a thick Brooklyn accent. (Think this guy from MasterChef last year.)
Register: Bash abuses slang, curses like a sailor, and blatantly ignores grammar. (Will often say 'you got' instead of 'you have' and 'ain't nobody need to' instead of 'no one has to.') He knows how to speak properly - or at least better to a point that doesn't make his mother actively want to strangle him - but that involves some level of concentration that he's usually way too lazy to utilize. He will, however, immediately drop 99.8% of cursing when talking to children. And will slow his words down and even out his tone to be better understood.
Quirks: When he goes off on a tear about a subject, he'll come to a lot of sharp stops - often in the middle of sentences - because he gets his thoughts into a tangle and can't remember where he was going with them, or he's changed his mind in the middle of getting something out. He also uses 'like' in the same way a lot of teenage girls tend to use 'like' - aka: liberally sprinkled like salt. He talks to himself a lot and, if anxious, will repeat words/phrases to himself to slow himself down.
Singing Voice: It's not terrible?
Anything Else?: If I'm playing him for too long, I will start sprinkling more ain'ts into my own speech than usual. My mother has maybe called me out on sounding like a punkass on more than one occasion.

Re: Bash
Phineas
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Phin's a straightforward baritone. He speaks very smoothly, and there's typically not an incredible amount of emotion or rise and fall -- he's sort of "dry" and tongue-in-cheek even about things he's taking quite seriously, except for when he's drunk, especially upset, or hanging out with friends at a bar or something. Then he's a bit of a caricature.
Accent: Despite growing up in Birmingham, Phin sounds mostly like his mum. His accent is a mix between a sort of traditional received pronunciation, BBC English, and a splash of Brummie when he likes or isn't paying particular attention.
Register: Phin learned most of his slang from Hogwarts mates, but he's taken to it fairly naturally. There are a few turns of phrase and words that are definitely exclusively Bones-ish, though, which he's never really shaken completely. Most of these are probably acceptable as some sort of weird Britishism except to other exchange students.
Quirks: Phineas has a very loud laugh. He likes mimicking American accents and is not wonderful at it, and speaks in the poshest accent imaginable when imitating his mum. He's prone to humming or singing under his voice while working.
Singing Voice: Phin has a relatively pleasant voice. It's untrained except for a handful of classes as a child, but he's generally confident, which helps. I imagine him sounding like this.
Anything Else?: c':

Re: Phineas
Re: Phineas
Reid
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: On the deeper side and very, very flat. Reid doesn't emote much, and when he does it's very mild. He's not very loud either, and it can be hard to hear him over crowds. Because of this he usually sounds like he's low key irritated, which mostly comes from his frustration and discomfort dealing with other people. He does use some vocal fry. Reid's pretty quiet because he'd rather people think he's a cool ice prince than... an awkward guy who can't string a sentence together and is bad at making eye contact.
Accent: Inner city Chicago, Illinois. Reid has no particular accent but he does have some Chicagoisms that don't come out in his writing and I always forget in prose. He needs to say some yous guys to balance out all these y'alls.
Register: Reid's not really concerned with grammar, surprise!!! He uses a ton of filler words and noises, and constructs his sentences sloppily. Whatever, uhhh, you know?, like. His overuse of whatever and like is enough to give some adults hives. He swears quite a lot and uses slang liberally. He sounds like a sullen city kid, which is exactly what he is.
Quirks: Whenever I write a tag for Reid, I make myself go back and make it even shorter, even if it sometimes makes it hard to know just what he's talking about. His verbal skills are Not So Hot.
Singing Voice: Reid doesn't sing, but his PB sounds like he's in pain when he does.
Anything Else?: Enjoy seeing how Reid's PB acts nothing like him.

Re: Reid
Danny
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: He BASICALLY sounds like Joe Keery, but tends to sound whinier and/or constantly irritated. I imagine he's just as likely to speak in stupid fake accents, too. His cadence is aggressive, quick, but careful.
Accent: Danny's from Boulder, CO. Sounds pretty damn similar to Standard American English.
Register: Danny enunciates and uses mostly prescriptive grammar, but he curses like a sailor and doesn't make an effort to sound more polite in settings where it calls for it.
Quirks: Danny talks with his hands. They're constantly flailing and he will hit stuff accidentally when he's particularly worked up. He also rambles, because he thinks you care about his thought process. And has a filthy fucking mouth. Danny doesn't obey the rules of conversation. He interrupts, he talks over people and he gives unhelpful responses that end conversations. Because he's a piece of shit.
Singing Voice: Ehhhhhh it ain't so great.
Anything Else?: He's still kinda too new for me to have thought about him very hard.

Casper
Sound/Pitch/Cadence: Casper's voice isn't particularly deep or particularly high but he tends to speak on the lower end of his own vocal register and his voice is often flat, stoic, and hard even when it's not necessary or intentional. Generally confident, he doesn't mumble or rush through his words. Sarcasm is a frequent occurrence.
Accent: Casper's from California, originally San Diego and later Los Angeles. He doesn't have much (if any) accent beyond nondescript American.
Register: Casper used to swear like a sailor but he's cut back on that this year. Otherwise, his choice of words and his grammar are fairly standard, though the way he speaks is often more serious and less casual than some of his peers. He hates slang terms that makes him sound young or immature.
Quirks: He has a temper and can often be seen clenching his jaw very hard when he has to resist saying what he wants to say. He almost never really laughs; the Ebonhide Senior Boys have put making Casper laugh on their to-do list for before graduation. Godspeed, gentlemen.
Singing Voice: Not terrible, not great. Casper's biggest problem is a complete discomfort with singing and, if anyone ever gets him to do it, he'll definitely sound like he doesn't want to be doing it. Please kill him. He's also a little flat.
Anything Else?: Casper knows a (very) small amount of Korean. He's never been linguistically gifted unless being able to talk to snakes counts.
His PB is cuter than him. :(
Post a Cute Gif:
Casper with any ESB.
