DECEMBER
🎂 Happy birthday, Heathcliff Lacey!
December begins with a snowstorm which hits a little after breakfast.
December begins with a snowstorm which hits a little after breakfast.
- Phoebe Maycott is running late this morning, and gets lost on their way to the lodge. However, after some wandering, they see deep, fresh moose tracks in the snow ahead. Following the footprints leads them back to a familiar trail, whereupon the tracks just seem to stop, without any hint as to where the moose ran off to...
- In the evening, Calvin Evercreech accidentally takes a wrong turn on their way back to their cabin, and after what feels like ages, ends up at a totally different campsite. They knock on a random cabin for shelter, and Zachary Zheng lets them in so they can warm up and dry off. Because it's now after curfew, everyone decides it would be better if Calvin stays here overnight. (OOC Note: It's simpler if both characters are the same gender, otherwise the rescuee will be sent to a more appropriate cabin at the campsite.)
Polar Bear Plunge! Every year, the most foolhardy students go out to the docks to participate in this ridiculous tradition. Students strip down to their bathing suits, line up, and jump into the freezing cold water! The most enjoyable part (besides machismo and/or bragging rights) is climbing out and letting your wiser classmates fuss over you as you're rushed into the lodge to get warm again. Healer Mufferaw is waiting nearby, just in case, and he insists all participants have someone on hand to watch out for them.

🌕 COLD MOON
- 🌟 The first intramural hockey game takes place today, ran by Rosemary Stoker and Hazel Keating! Healer Mufferaw is there, as always, to make sure the event doesn't get out of hand. This time, however, he's taken out all the Pre-Healer students with him!
- From now on, all students in Pre-Healer Studies can mend minor cuts and bruises, as well as broken noses. Bianca Dubois catches on so quickly that they earn a rare scrap of praise from Healer Mufferaw.
- As night falls, explosive sparks flash within the forest between Ribbonfin and Ebonhide — is someone duelling? When curious students go to investigate, they're turned away by a MACUSA agent who insists nothing happened, although Casper Kim could swear that they spot a large, dark, antlered creature lying at the feet of a few black-robed agents. Reece Downing is ordered to take everyone back to the trails/campsites.
🎂 Happy birthday, Sybilla Borgin!
- Following the Polar Bear Plunge, Pandora Lacey comes down with a terrible cold and can't stop sneezing all day even after they cave and get a Pepper Up Potion from Healer Mufferaw.
- Ira Ashworth goes to Ms. Vector's office early in the morning to ask for help, but hears raised voices within. The deputy headmistress is arguing with someone whom she calls "Director Grimshaw," and sounds displeased by the MACUSA's activities in the forest. A calm male voice tells Vector that they're doing what is necessary to "keep the children safe." Ira isn't able to hear much more, as Agent Larke comes down the hallway and spots them. Larke knocks on the door, quieting the conversation within, and tells the student to come back later.
- 🌟 It's dance fundraiser time again! Event Committee sets up tables in the lodge to advertise the sale of candygrams throughout the week. For a monetary donation, you can purchase candies and have them delivered with notes to the recipient of your choice. Additionally, Event Committee is sponsoring a mystery holiday gift exchange and a magically tamperproof box is available for gift collections which will be distributed the night of the dance.
- It's snowing again today, and Veronica Powers sees their good friend standing right next to a choice, fluffy snow bank. They tackle their friend, except... oops, it was a very bundled up Gweneth Popplestone whom they mistook for their pal!
- Hazel Keating walks up on Calvin Evercreech practicing a charm in the lodge that they don't recognize. They startle him and end up on the wrong side of whatever he's working on, and can't hear or taste for an hour.
🔮 Archimedes Rose has a theory to test, and a slightly unreliable moral compass. Unbeknownst to the larger student body, he tainted the water used in the student showers with an Ageing Potion. Anyone who took a shower yesterday afternoon or evening wakes up to find themselves remarkably older.
If your character will be participating, please SIGN UP below.
- The effects will last all day.
- You may age your character as little as you want or as much as you want.
- The potion will not make characters younger, only older.
- Staff will determine it was the water, but not who was responsible. The water supply is scrubbed clean and made extra tamper-proof.

- During rehearsals for the winter play, Isabelle Sargent accidentally tumbles through a trap door during a passionate monologue, and breaks their fall on Regan Hobbs, who was working under the stage. No bones are broken, although both come away with some head-knocking bruises.
- There's been a mistake with the laundry, and Nisha Lewis's clean clothes are delivered to Cameron Carney and visa versa by accident!
- Miguel de la Guardia is in the lodge later in the afternoon when they overhear Mr. Elmasry, apparently having a conversation with Dr. Perry, who's pretty clearly flirting with the young Potions teacher. Or trying to, anyway. Is this the beginning of a love triangle? Dr. Perry ends up missing his chance when Mr. Elmasry is pulled away by Quentin Youngblood who's oblivious to the tension, but has a pressing Potions question. Love connection ruined by professional responsibilities!
- Paris Holloway is fixing their hair in the lodge restroom and taking their sweet time doing so when suddenly they're hit in the back of the head with a roll of toilet paper. As they spin around to see who it was, all of the toilet paper in the room begin unraveling at once, until the student runs out into the hallway to escape it! Poltergeist activity sure is messy.
The unnecessarily vicious Annual Tree Decorating Competition takes place tonight! Get ready, artists and saboteurs!
🎂 Happy birthday, Hazel Keating!
Midterm Exams take place this week.
Midterm Exams take place this week.
- Rosemary Stoker spends the whole evening cramming in the library, and ends up falling asleep in a hidden corner. They wake up only after Ms. Petrichor turns off the lights, and end up having to find a staff member (Mrs. O'Hare, working late at night in her first floor office) to unlock the lodge doors and escort them back to their cabin. On the way there, Mrs. O'Hare tells them about the time she encountered a Sasquatch in the woods and ended up sharing a pot of tea with them. It's hard to tell if she's joking or not.
First day of Hanukkah.
- Fern Mufferaw gets into an argument with Healer Mufferaw, when he mentions to his daughter that he'll be staying at school over Christmas. Again.
- Spencer Sweet keeps a questionable tradition alive: sledding down Azurcrest hill. He's taken some extra precautions this year, but people who participate might end up with detention, or worse! It'll be nice stress relief before exams really take off, though! (Getting in trouble will be optional.)
- Lucas Kowalski is working on their History of Magic essay when their research leads them into an oft-neglected section of the library. There there find a somewhat dull book full of photographs of early Muggle settlers, and one of them contains a gruff looking miner standing next to a boy* that looks a lot like the angry ghost rumored to be seen yelling at people along the trails. After taking the photograph to Ms. Petrichor, she takes it out of its sleeve to look at the back of the photo. There are names and dates, but the writing is illegible. Seeing Lucas's obvious investment in knowing who these people are, she says she'll do some work on the illegible writing over the break. "I have some tricks up my sleeve," she promises. (*OOC Note: This is Charles, the ghost who attacked Bash during Y1 Endgame.)
- 🔮 A bat gets trapped in Clementine Decourt's cabin, and they and their roommates stay up way too late trying to get it out. Bad timing for anyone who had an exam in the morning!
🎂 Happy birthday, Corrigan Bailey and Solomon Webb!
- Cole Moss has finally perfected a recipe for fake blood, and not a moment too soon! Rehearsal gets side-tracked as everyone gets caught up in trying out gory blood spurting effects. Noel Finnigan-Thomas gets a standing ovation as they show off their most over-the-top death performance (regardless of whether or not their character even dies in the play), and ends rehearsal rolling around in a puddle of fake blood. Now who wants to stay behind and help clean up?
- While Jefferson Key is grading freshman essays for Wizard Lit, he discovers that one of the essays is actually a very passionate anonymous love letter to him.
💯 Last day of midterm exams. To celebrate, Riley Stamper stands from the lodge's third floor and shoots glittery confetti from their wand, which rains down on everyone in the Atrium. Oh wow, that's... way more confetti than they were expecting. They have only a few seconds to be proud of their charms skills before Ms. Rhee catches them and removes 15 house points.
🌟 During lunch, candygrams are delivered to everyone by Event Committee. (There will be a post with all of the gifts given to each character.)

🌟 Intramural Hockey. Healer Mufferaw asks for volunteers from his Pre-Healer Studies classes to assist him in mending wounds.
💯 Ms. Vector has had enough of her house's abysmal point standing, and every Coppertale is ordered outside to help Mr. Covington shovel all of the new snowfall off the trails, in preparation for tomorrow's dance.
- The Healer asks for a moment alone with Fern Mufferaw and tries desperately to sound casual as he mentions that the school doesn't need him after all. So... would it bother her if he spent this winter break with her and her grandparents?

🌑 NEW MOON
- As promised, Anon is not allowed to attend the masquerade this year (although technically he wasn't supposed to last year either). He's nowhere to be seen, but overnight there was a fresh snowfall, leaving campus looking supernaturally beautiful. Ennis Harper finds a birch mask that Anon must have used last year, abandoned in the snow. The anonymity charm that was once on it is no longer working.
- The Winter Masquerade Ball! Everyone will be wearing masks, so their identities are disguised! With the help of a little magic, the capacity for anonymity goes well beyond covering your face.
- The charm activates the night of the dance, just as the clock strikes 7:00 PM, and only within the confines of the lodge and the immediate surrounding area. If students don't have a charmed mask of their own, a simple domino will be issued to them before the dance.
- Someone wearing a charmed mask becomes unrecognizable to those looking at them. You might have known a person by their voice, height, hair, skin, or lips, but now suddenly... you aren't certain. This could be anyone.
- This effectively means that you can't guess the identity of an individual by their physical traits. However, you might recognize them either from their speech patterns, or something they tell you.
- It's easier to recognize people by their masks, but if you want your character to struggle with this as well, you may. (The same applies to clothing.) This means you might be at risk of losing track of your date if you come as a couple. This is up to individual players.
- Mr. Calderon-Boot has the power to take the charm away, though, so if you act in a truly horrendous manner or break a rule, you could still get caught. Not to mention that a lot of people will remember if the guy in the blue domino mask was being a total dick all night, and someone might later see it amongst your possessions.
- If you leave the dance, the charm deactivates until you return.
- The charm immediately ends at the stroke of midnight, Cinderella. So either leave the dance by then, or stand around with everyone else to unmask and see who you've been talking to!
🎂 Happy birthday, Concordia Knight!
Students head home for Winter Break. Those who asked their Head of House beforehand are permitted to stay at school over the break.

🎂 Happy birthday, Noel Finnigan-Thomas!
With so many students gone, the lodge is surprisingly quiet at all times of the day. On their way to lunch, Avery Davenport ends up walking under a sprig of mistletoe hanging from a trail lamppost, and feel their feet frozen to the ground. Wait, what? They're unable to get free until Gabriela Flores finds them and gives them a kiss (either on the lips, cheek or hand). Later, Mr. Hightower is seen spraying the sprig with the magical mistletoe killer formula he made last year.

New Year's Eve.
🌟 It's time again for the annual New Year's Eve party at Cameron Carney's house! There will be food an alcohol, and characters may spend the night if they want.
🌟 Calvin Evercreech suggests to his fellow Hogwarts exchange students that they ought to meet up at Diagon Alley to ring in the new year. Fireworks, live music, food and alcohol! Assuming you're old enough to buy it, that is.
