He's not great at helping other people with school because he has poor communication skills but he's getting a bit better at that since he became the president of the Crafting Club aaaand Potions can probably be a bit of a show don't tell subject which would help. He'd try if Tristan asked, anyway! And if he can't do it, he can always draw him a pretty picture to apologize~
