MY brother had an experience similar to Cam's. The same day my grandfather gave him his first pocket knife. Because he was just fucking playing with it.

DON'T GIVE CHILDREN KNIVES.

Come to think of it I also sliced myself open (very minorly) with my first pocket knife (Swiss army, pink)...

Because I ALSO had a similar experience (pumpkin carving) and passed out at the sight of my finger blood which I've never done again so like apparently I was just a Huge Wimp as a 9 year old

literally the ONLY times any boys in my class had major injuries was because some father figure gave a child a weapon

girls did normal shit like falling off swingsets, boys shot each other in the eye with bb guns
