Heyyyy, here it is! The Where Are They Now? Meme! This is in preparation for the ten year reunion we’ll be playing next weekend (Friday, July 14), which will be a standard IC/OOC where we can all appreciate the bright futures our seniors have to look forward to.

A FEW NOTES

• Only seniors are invited to the IC/OOC, but juniors and sophomores they are married to or otherwise romantically involved with may attend.


• For juniors and sophomores: this is considered only semi-canon for you if you’re involved with a senior. Anything you consent to being said about your character can be changed later. This includes things like their career, what you said they did in the last ten years, or even who they ended up marrying.


• Be respectful if you run into overlap with things like your careers (for instance, if two people want to hold the exact same position in the MACUSA). Work things out amongst yourselves as best as you can.


• When choosing careers, be realistic. These kids are all 28, so they’re not going to be holding major political offices. (Not yet, anyway.) They’re also not going to have a successful five year Quidditch career followed by a lighting ascension to the assistant director of an Auror office.

Name: Quinn Agnes Cunningham!
Occupation: Team Healer for the Fitchburg Finches!^[1]
Residence: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada! She and Ty live in a modest Victorian townhouse downtown.

• Ty is the sole decorator (for good reason) and knickknacks he picked up on his travels can be found everywhere.
• Their house has an ever-growing number of magical modifications like windows that open or close depending on the weather. Sometimes you ask the spice rack to hand you the basil, but instead, another cabinet's door opens to whack you in the head. Quinn insists that "this house is so old that it's probably haunted, anyway."
• Goosey The Ambiguously Magical Ragdoll Cat is still kicking and Ty now has a very cool pomeranian that he adores, named [TBD!]. Historically "not a dog person," Quinn dotes on the pom often and exclusively calls him "Little Man."

Marital Status: Married to Ty Cunningham né Hawkeswood.
Children: Someday... but not yet. She remains an enthusiastic babysitter.
Lifestyle: Quinn is as active and busy as ever but she's learned that she doesn't need to make up pick up quite as many responsibilities as she used to.

— HOBBIES:

• Health and fitness are still her priorities. She plays in a local hockey league, a pick-up Quidditch league, and has added roller derby to her repertoire (position: blocker, name: Calamity Jay). Tess is on her derby team! It's a beautiful thing.
• She's still passionate about strength training and yammers on about nutrition — she's even welcomed Ty into the church of lifting heavy things and she loves it.
• She still dances with Ty regularly. These sessions are the highlights of her week.
• It turns out that home renovations are FUN, especially when you add MAGIC! Their house always has some kind of reno project going on but since she's away a lot, they tend to take longer than they should. She uses this as an excuse to keep up her artificing skills. Thankfully, a couple of her cousins are contractors and help her with the more specialized tasks. (Quinn, please keep your fingers attached to your hands.)

— SOCIAL:

• Quinn's extended family is big and close and most of them live in and around the city. Their front door is something of a revolving door of Cunninghams and Stuarts "just dropping by."
• She and Jesse are still besties and he's already been voluntold for the role of "#1 babysitter" when Quinn and Ty finally have kids.
• She also hangs out with Chris a lot, although she claims she likes his daughter, Kit, more. She feeds the girl lines to lecture her father with like "Don't you have a game this weekend? You should only be drinking water." and "When you check for monsters under my bed don't forget to lift with your legs. You're getting old and you don't want to throw out your back."
• Any time a friend has an event (ex. Laurel's play debuts, Jesse's band has a gig), she tries as hard as she can to make an appearance. If she can't, the friend can expect a bouquet of flowers and a card~
• The Dances with Foxes crew takes a vacation together every year and THEY'RE NEVER GOING TO STOP!!!

— WORK:

• Quinn travels a lot for work as her duties include required attendance at every practice and game. She considers this a pro.
• A magical/medical non-profit out of Portland has been producing and distributing the first aid kit that began as her senior project for almost a decade. It has undergone some changes over the years, and Quinn is on-call as a consultant. This was never a profitable venture.
• She volunteers as an emergency healer when she has the time or extra hands are needed.

What happened after they graduated?:

• 2014: Quinn enters to Healer training in San Francisco's Cooper Healing College, one of the top programs in the country. She and Jesse get a shitty apartment. Ty and Ivy are frequent visitors.
• 2015: A non-profit in Portland contacts Quinn — one of their board members attended her senior project presentation and they would like to produce and distribute the first aid kit. They form a partnership.
• 2016: She graduates! Healer Cunningham becomes an emergency healer... apprentice! Posted to San Diego.
• 2018: She graduates again! She becomes a full-fledged emergency healer! She's moved back up to San Francisco, and ends up being moved between SF and SD every few months.
• 2020: Quinn has a crisis: she's wanted this for years but now that she has it, she's unhappy. She isn't used to moving around so much and doesn't like feeling like she has no roots; she's homesick and positions back home aren't opening up at the rate they used to. She waffles and worries. In time, she gives in, owls some contacts, and...
• 2021: Leaves her job to apprentice under [Pro Quid Team #2]'s team healers! She travels a lot for work but can live in one place. She and Ty move into a house in her hometown, Hamilton. She's the happiest she's been in years.
• 2022: She and Ty get married in an excuse to throw a big party!!! She's even happier!!!
• 2023: She graduates for THE BILLIONTH TIME! No longer an apprentice, she joins the ranks of the Fitchburg Finches's team healers.

[1]: Professional Quidditch teams have at least one chief healer and two team healers. Chief healers are responsible for the long-term health of players (ex. exercise plans, physiotherapy, lingering injuries) and keeping the healers in line. Team healers are responsible for the day-to-day health of the players (ex. consulting with the trainers, taking care of emergencies and illnesses, and performing boring things like routine physicals). TL;DR: Quinn bosses around a team of pro Quid players about their lifting form and calls them "dumbasses" a lot.

Lifestyle: Tabitha bloody loves her life, thank you very much. She sailed through college with good grades (the arts always were her thing), graduating top of her class in the Wizarding Music major and second in her class in Wizarding Drama. She auditioned for the NYCWO right out of Julliard, gaining the third chair, and worked her way up from that point. She and Nate didn't rush into marriage (though lbr, he had to be prodded into proposing by others) and her young son is the light of her life. She's released a couple of solo albums and, in the most random of twists, was sampled by a young up and coming hip hop artist (fun wizarding name tbc) with whom she's recorded some additional tracks.

Residence: Z shares a small flat in wizarding Dublin with Ryan. :d

• I have no reference pics AS OF NOW but the decor is sleek and modern, greys and blacks, except for all of Z's gothy bullshit & potions ingredients & various charts etc

• I am Choosing To Believe that both Cayuga and Sylvain are still alive & very cute

Marital Status: Recently engaged!
Children: In like six months! :u Z's got a baby bump that will eventually be a daughter.

Lifestyle: Busy, mostly pleasant. In some ways Z never outgrew working herself to her limits, but it seems that that's just kind of a default now instead of self-imposed torture. She's still calm & pretty chill, but now fairly well-traveled and better at Emotions.
— FAMILY/SOCIAL THINGS:

• Grandfather Cathal is still alive, still her favorite, etc. She's in line to inherit his lil cottage in Kells, so -- that's maybe a future plan. Cathal visits her in Dublin quite often and is very taken with Ryan.
• Z has mostly patched up her relationship with her mother. The two are closer now than they were when she was in highschool, and Z goes back to Ithaca every six months or so for an extended visit. This means she's often in NYC, too ♥
• EVERYONE -- all friends, ever -- have an open invitation to come to Dublin. Z loves entertaining and often feels homesick for the US and past Gooseberry times. ;-;

— LIL LIFE THINGS:

• Z plays bass in a band -- they're called The Ropes, they're kind of fun, they're not super popular, etc. They play shows in and around Dublin, mostly, and had one single that cracked the Top Wizarding 100 for about a week a couple of years ago.
• She still does some animated illustrations, but mostly just on letters to friends. ♥
• She's got a little more of an accent now than she did in highschool, now that she's been in Ireland fr some time c:

— WORK:

• Z's "in between degrees," but now that there's a kid on the way it's unclear when or if she'll return to school
• She works in potions consulting and research, primarily helping to improve recipes, make comparisons, help with pricing and logistics re: mass production, conduct intensive testing, source and gather rare ingredients, etc. This has primarily been for a medicinal potions company, but also for various schools and private clients. Zaddy is more personal work -- it's kinda her baby, and she puts a lot of creativity into it, plus Addy is involved & idk it's still adorable and Very Good :d
• Z also does some volunteering/tutoring at an area school! She likes teaching, kind of. Kind of.

What happened after they graduated?:

• 2014: Z visits her grandfather over the summer and makes a split decision not to leave. She enrolls in a fancy Dublin school for potioneering.
• 2015: Ryan comes to Dublin! Long distance... sucked.
• 2017: Z graduates with the equivalent of a BS, and continues on for a MA at the same institution. She studies medicinal potions, folk remedies, etc.
• 2018: The start of some consulting work. The Ropes start writing music.
• 2019: The Ropes' first album & only mildly popular song is released. (History of Mary, "Vodka Song")
• 2021: Album two! (Brioche)
• 2022: Z finally graduates with her MA! She throws herself into building a reputation as a pro potioneer and building contracts, etc. INTENSE. She spends the second half of the year living in southern China, gathering weird potions ingredients and learning about traditional medicine.
• 2023: Z travels a lot! Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Vietnam. She drags Ryan around with her, if he's into it. ♥ In the fall, Z applies for some PHD programs (mostly in Ireland, some in the States).
• 2024: YEAR OF REUNION?I think? Z has decided to defer acceptance to a program after discovering she's pregnant, and she and Ryan finally get engaged. :u So... here we are.

Name: Christopher Park
Occupation: Pro Quidditch Beater for Fitchburg Finches (potter wikia only lists two american teams and this one's in fucking Massachusetts AND on the east coast what what)
Residence: Magical D.C. (It's like regular D.C. but magical and also geographically close to regular D.C.)

-He lives with Robin and has lived with Robin for the last ten years

- It's a shitty two bedroom apartment that neither of them are poor enough to actually need

-It's magically tricked the fuck out. Each of their closets have been outfitted magically into an extra room. Robin's is some kind of freak conspiracy room, Chris's is for Kit. Which in hindsight - sounds awful. His daughter lives in a closet. But it's like ... way bigger on the inside, fam.

Chris's senior project actually inspired a lot of the magical trickery he implements in the apartment. Since they can't lay glitter traps all around their base, there's some savage traps on the inside. idk what these are but they're probs like way better than they were in gooseberry and also can't be accidentally triggered by a seven year old

For the first two years after graduation, Chris used a raft as a bed instead of a mattress. I don't have an actual reason why, but it feels funny, so i'm just gonna go with it

Marital Status: Single
Children: A seven year old Daughter named Kit who he sometimes calls Kaboodle.

- This child is the sum of every part he's ever been and is the literal whole of his entire world.

- She is the product of a one night stand. She was born when he was twenty two and she was basically dropped off on his door step. He never got a DNA test, but he acclimated to being a father fairly well without losing his personality. She has never met her mother.

- Chris mails a new picture of Kit and a very lengthy letter detailing everything Kit did that year, starting from the first time she crawled to enrolling her in second grade, to her birth mother every year since the first year he got her, but her birth mother never responds to his letters

- Every person that was close to Chris in High school is a fairly active part of Kit's life and shape her in little ways. Chris is pretty okay with letting a village help him raise his daughter and hasn't tried to hide her from that part of his life.

- Hilariously, Isaiah was the first person to babysit his child. She calls him Uncle Isaac, because she claims 'Isaiah has too many unnecessary syllables'

- Kit is an avid hockey and quidditch fan. She is like a pretty terrifying kind of fan - understandably so, since her role models are Quinn and Chris, and she's watched them watch sports before. She learned to ice skate as soon as she could walk.

- To the reunion, she's gonna wear a batman suit and a tiara instead of the cowl.

Lifestyle: Chris's life style is actually pretty busy. He is a first string quidditch player, which keeps him busy when quidditch is in season. He has weekly practices and games and inevitable injuries to contend with. Outside of Quidditch, he has a daughter, in case I forgot to mention her anywhere else in this meme. His daughter is pretty attached to his hip in most cases. Half the time, she accompanies him to practices and she attends his games, not because he can't afford a babysitter - obviously there's plenty of people willing to babysit her, but because she's a very big fan, and simply enjoys attending the games and practices, and he can't tell her no.

Chris is still an asshole but he's a different kind of asshole. He doesn't party much, he doesn't drink much, he makes less fatal decisions with his life.

He also wanders a lot, and idly apparates into the homes of his friends uninvited and pretends like he belongs there - it's become a bit of a hobby for him. It's also how he maintains a lot of his friendships.

Outside of that, Chris works out a lot. He exercises a lot. He plays sports a lot. He eats healthy and drinks water. He coaches pee wee hockey for elementary kids and it's fucking adorable. His daughter is a terror on that hockey team, and all the boys are terrified of her.
What happened after they graduated?:

2014: Chris is scouted and goes into talks for recruitment. The talks are generally lengthy and take a lot of time, but they encourage him to forgo Auror training. He moves out of his mom's house and into an apartment with Robin and Ryan.

2015: Officially, Chris is drafted by the Fitchburg Finches. I don't remember everything that was discussed about how extensive that process is, but basically, Chris makes the list, but nowhere near first string obviously. He's basically the back up of the backup. He starts an intense training regimen. Presumably Rosy and Chris break up at some point this year.

2016: This is the year of one night stands lbr. More riding the bench. It's super fun times and Chris hates every moment of it, but he continues to pull his weight at practices. I don't even know when Ryan moves out of the apartment, but it's in one of these ten years lmao

2017: A woman shows up at Chris's door, and hands him the child, and tells him that it's his. The child is two weeks old and looks not unsimilar to a naked mole rat. She leaves and he doesn't see her again. He names the child Kit, and immediately goes to his mother because he knows so little he doesn't even know what the fuck he doesn't have. He tells nobody he has this child, but he does find out that his name has been put on the birth certificate, so at least he legally owns the child. His friends steadily start to realize that he has a child because he shows up to events at random with the child and pretends like she's been here all along.

2018: Chris plays in a live game for the first time in his career after a beater takes a bludger to the head so severely, he ends up unconscious for a week. Total play time is 18 minutes. In those 18 minutes, Chris fractures the faces of two of the three opposing chasers and earns himself a gruesome but satisfying nickname. I don't know this nickname, you invent this nickname, but it's followed him since this game. Following the game, he goes back to the bench for the rest of the year.

2019:Chris doesn't play in a single game this year. He's getting restless as fuck, so he signs up to coach the local elementary school's pee wee hockey league. He also bitches about never getting play to possibly the most unsympathetic person to his cause ever - professional bench rider herself, Quinn Cunningham.

2020: Half way through the season, their starting beater has a very public break down, and quits. It's a PR nightmare, and Chris starts in the game following it. He makes the public almost forget about that PR nightmare by trying to break as many bones as possible. Chris helps soothe the pains of his team mates by being a fairly decent temporary replacement. Kit also learns how to ice skate.

2021: Rather than being a temporary replace, Chris is promoted to first string. This same year, Kit starts Pre-K. She also tries to domesticate a wild squirrel. It doesn't have a happy ending. Chris buys his mom a house and never moves out of the shitty two bedroom apartment he shares with Robin.

2022-23 Not a fucking whole lot of new shit happens. Chris continues to prove that he belongs on a team. He also continues to prove that he loves breaking faces. Kit continues school. Chris adds her to his division's pee wee hockey, even though it's predominantly a male sport. There's a really awkward point where he has to explain to her why hockey sticks aren't meant for hitting people with, even though he made a career out of practically hitting people with hard objects.

2024: YEAR OF THE REUNION. At the point of this year, Chris has kept in close contact with a lot of close friends. Most, if not all of them are quite aware that he's in possession of a child. He's been playing Quidditch for four years now as first string. He's considered an up and comer with potential and hasn't quite proven that he'll last long. He's like internally ecstatic that Quinn is part of the team of healers for his team. By the time of this reunion, he's got a lot less to prove than he did in high school. Which means that he's calmed down a lot. He's not as aggressive, he's not as invested in controlling how people view him. He doesn't give a shit if people have hated him for ten years, but that lack of care is a lot more benign. If he analyzed it, he might discover that this is what being happy feels like. He's pretty freaking satisfied with how things have turned out. He's proud, but he's grown up a bit, so even that pride is a bit more benign and less arrogant. One thing hasn't changed tho - he's enjoying breaking faces quite a bit.

Here is what I imagine so far:

I do not know where he lives but I am going to be mushy and stubborn and until told otherwise say that he is probably still/again with Rafael :( (If this is still ok with you, Meggie, hello.)

He passed Auror training! Yay! He either cajoled a transfer to Mexico (HE SPEAKS SPANISH NOW!) or very far south (LA or Texas?) as a Compromise if he stuck to MACUSA. Probably. But he has been helped lead at least one (1) very successful task force so he's Getting Looked At more seriously. It probably involved animagi. K9 Aurors took down something dark.

He coaches little league quidditch on weekends probably. He hopes to see you all there with your children and your lawn chairs soon.

I like to imagine he has fun workplace relationships with people who are Aurors if he remained in the US OR just owls them to cross reference cases and stuff and it's cute.

Does anyone else want Leo's continued presence in their homes or lives :(

Durations and everything subject to change, but here's a general idea of what's gone down~

JOB STUFF:

• Quinn did two years of healer training, then did the emergency healer gig for two years!


• Then she had... A CRISIS! But it's okay, because The Crisis led her to apprenticing under the Team Healer for [Professional Quidditch Team A]! She does this for two years (~2019–2021).


• Her apprenticeship completed, since 2021 she's been the Team Healer for [Professional Quidditch Team B]*! She cares for non-extreme injuries sustained during matches, handles physiotherapy shit for team members (but like, with magic), and provides medical consultation on training and nutrition.
  TL;DR: she bosses around a team of pro Quid players about their lifting form and calls them "dumbasses" a lot.

* This MAY be Chris's team based on a previous convo with Roz, but that depends on if he's still taking the same path he was going to, where the team is, etc. etc.

LIFE STUFF:

• Quinn and Jesse shared an apartment in San Francisco from September 2014 until whichever of them left first; she was there for ~2–4 years. I'm not sure if her first healer gig was in SF or somewhere else. All she would have wanted to do is move back to Hamilton, but maybe her emergency gig was in the eastern part of the US.


• She and Ty live in Hamilton now! I... kind of assume no other characters would live there, but if yours is living in ON/Upstate NY/MI, HIT ME UP, maybe they're PALZ.


• She plays hockey and roller derby. Her life is ruled by rinks and skates. She has not stopped talking about her macros.


• Did Quinn and your character stay friendos? Does your character have a child(ren)? If so, meet your most enthusiastic babysitter.


• But also, did Quinn and your character stay friendos, in general.


• There's... also a chance that she's gotten really into home renos done with magic. Their house probably hasn't burned down yet. Stay tuned.

DIEGO

• Apprenticed to his mother as an art dealer for several years while working on his music career.


• Started therapy for his anxiety and post-endgame trauma.


• Married Ravi at ~25! Their wedding had to have two ceremonies and lasted all day in order to appease both sides of their families. It was a huge undertaking and both of them kind of hated it. BUT IT WAS REALLY COOL AND ELABORATE AND ALL THEIR FRIENDS WERE INVITED.


• They're working on the having kids thing. Diego agreed to get that pureblood heir to appease the extended family and not lose his inheritance. They just met a surrogate mother they like and baby seems imminent.


• Nowadays Diego has a moderately successful career in the muggle indie music scene! He's just obscure enough that it sounds cool when you say you know his music. He also ghost writes some songs for pop acts.


• Mostly he's idle wealthy, though. He and Ravi go to a lot of renaissance faires where Ravi jousts and sells costumes and Diego hangs out in whatever Ravi made for him to wear.


• They live in Moab!

I did not pick an older PB and Diego still can't see without his glasses, but as an adult Diego only shaves decently when he knows Ravi's parents are coming.

DIMI PLOTTING

He's a freelance photographer full time, after a fun few years of just doing it in his spare time and working menial jobs to make ends meet. He predominantly does travel photography - taking pretty pictures of faraway, exciting places - but has also done some work for newspapers. Buyers can expect to find a lot of interesting action shots in his collections.

After dancing around it forever and thinking they're very cute for being sneaky, Dimi and Sylla were recently engaged. Probably within the last year or so? IDK Madeline THOUGHTS?

Probably still has a modest permanent residence in the UK somewhere but travels a lot.

ABSOLUTELY kept in touch with all of his Gooseberry friends, but if you want Dimi in particular to swing by on the weekends for a beer lmk. :C

jackson rathbone still playing high schoolers at 28 but I don't even buy it.

Ivy majored in (magic) art in undergrad, got a master's degree in (magic) linguistics, and is currently pursuing a PHD or wizard equivalent in (magic) historical linguistics. What does she do for money? ... live off a trust fund, probably. she ostensibly does art professionally but i think her passion projects probs don't net her much income because they're weird and esoteric. maybe she paints sentient portraits on commission

Ivy and Laurel moved to NYC after graduating but idk if they're still there? I definitely imagine that they're still living in the same place at 28 regardless of where it is because they're awful and codependent. i could also see them moving back to Seattle/somewhere on the West Coast at some point maybe (she's kind of a homebody, but Laurel's a dancer obvs so she's gotta be where the work is)

Takeru is an Assistant Curator at a wizardy children's museum in (SOME BIG CITY PROBABLY PHILADELPIA). This means he mostly does what the boss tells him to, but by the time the 10 year reunion has rolled around he's already spearheaded a couple of successful exhibits and it's looking like interactive edutainment for young witches and wizards is his future and guys he is so excited.

Takeru moved back to Osaka for a couple of years in his early 20s where he worked as an English & Artificing instructor at a cram school and it didn't really feel like home, anymore, so he came back stateside.

I think Takeru was probably a serial monogamist throughout his twenties, but is probably single at the moment? IDK.

He still lives and breathes horoscopes and divinations.

The Ebonboys still all get together for Haunted Doll Watches all the time, right??

ok so i've been sending alex headcanons for probably three months now and i can't remember them all

so what i have so far is

- Chris was recruited for quidditch after graduation. He chose not to go through with being an auror. At the time of this reunion, he's been playing as first string beater for four years for ... a quidditch team. idk what quidditch team bc boston doesn't have a quidditch team
- The first thing Chris did after he began to make substantial money from being a quidditch player was buy his mother a new house.
- At some point after graduation, he made fun of the lakers losing and rosy broke up with him and they probably never got back together again. but they probably did a lot of on and off type of relationship things until she decided to ruin her life.
- Chris still hates casey
- After graduation, chris got an apartment with robin and probably ryan, but i'm assuming ryan moved out at some point in the last ten years bc he's an adult. Chris never did.
- Chris has a seven year old daughter named Kit (which is ironically a nickname for both a baby fox and the actual name Christopher; this was entirely unplanned and a legit accident), even tho he's never married and he's not dating anyone. The mother is literally an npc that has never made an appearance in my headcanon. i don't even know what happened to her. ironically tho - it was probably a one night stand.
- His child gets to have the terrible influences of both Quinn and Robin in her life. She also likes to pretend that she has the terrible influence of Gordon Ramsey in her life, when she calls Chris's food 'unimaginative' and 'lacking foresight'.
- He has a mammoth of a dog now.

FAYE

After graduating, Faye ended up living in Oahu for about a year basically doing nothing. That's what you get for inviting her into your home, Anuhea (she eventually got her own place, probs renting a room with a bunch of other ne'er-do-well mainlanders right on the beach. One of them was a surfer. One of them was trying to get her jewelry business off the ground).

She eventually moved back to LA and worked as a makeup artist on her dads' productions for a few years. During this time she started a business selling her ~magic hair dye~ and other cosmetics but quickly realized this was way more actual work than she wanted to do and sold the company for a very small profit. It's doing very well now and she's not involved with it at all.

She spent a year working for a magical animal rescue somewhere in Europe.

Then she spent another 9 months backpacking around Europe.

Then she spent about a year working at a pastry bakery in London. How does she keep getting jobs she's clearly under-qualified for?

Now she's back in LA and working in movies again, currently as a producer. Her dad got her foot in the door and she's had a pretty easy time of it because she's extremely good at delegating and hustling other people. She's been talking about maybe writing/directing something for a long time now but keeps getting distracted, so we'll see if that ever happens.

If anyone wants their girl to be CRACKSHIP MARRIED to Faye, I imagine that after living a no strings attached lifestyle for most of her adult life, in the last ~two years or so she got involved in a whirlwind romance and got married after like 6 months and the wedding was huge and ostentatious. If this girl ends up being an NPC she's going to be... a real character and I have to put some thought into her. But I'm game for pretty much anything.

Also she looks like way less of a Lisa Frank trash monster these days, but those who know her well can tell that's still what she looks like... on the inside

NEIL

• Right after graduation he had a huuuuuuge argument with his dad about what he was doing with his life, and he moved out in a huff. Probably spent a few years couch surfing and working shitty retail jobs. He got fired a lot.


• Never stopped his paranormal research and even joined some muggle ghost hunting groups. He didn't often get along well with them.


• Got arrested a few times for trespassing.


• Finally got a government internship researching the interaction between magic and technology, and started to get his life together. He had an easier time working at a job that actually could keep his attention, and he flourished.


• Spent his mid/late-20's researching the nature and laws of ghosts as well as continuing personal research on magic and technology.


• Recently accepted a job in the UK... as an Unspeakable in the MoM's Department of Mysteries. He's very cagey about what exactly it is that he's working on, but seems to really be enjoying it.


• NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON IN HIS PERSONAL LIFE? I like to think eventually this loser told Anuhea he had ~feelings~ for her. DID THAT LAST??? CAM????

TY PLOTTING

JOB STUFF:

• Ty started working with his sister, Sabina Hawkeswood, in the fall after graduating from Gooseberry. A buyer and seller of rare magical books, Sabina had Ty spend his time searching for potential purchases and acquiring books. Because of his linguistic talents, he specialized in non-English texts and helped his sister branch out into producing translations for rare books, especially those in uncommon languages. This had and continues to have him traveling all over and spending his downtime studying new languages; he's very happy about this.


• While Ty has stayed in the same profession for the last ten years, after several years of proving himself and bringing new opportunities to the business, Sabina made him her partner instead of her employee. This has worked out very well for both of them.


• Ty speaks a ridiculous number of languages by now and should be smacked.

LIFE STUFF:

• Because Ty's occupation has always had him globetrotting and frequently away from home, he's been happy to go where Quinn wants to go and the two now live in the city of Hamilton in Ontario, Canada. He likes living so close to and being so involved with her crazy family, especially because he's basically estranged from his own apart from Sabina.


• Being away from Quinn and from his friends so much immediately after graduation was difficult for Ty and, after becoming more acquainted with Muggle technology while on his travels, he started vlogging. This started mostly for Quinn, to show her where he was and all of the interesting things he was doing and to make it feel like they weren't so far apart, but gradually developed into an actual travel and linguistics channel on YouTube. A charismatic ball of energy that likes attention, he took to this quickly and has been doing it ever since. It's still mostly travel and linguistics, but also includes things like dance, yoga, and workout things from time to time. This is his pet project and he thinks it's just the best.


• He's maybe been pulled into Quinn's workouts and macros. It shows. Between this and letting his hair go back to its natural color/growing it out and the like, he maybe looks like a different person. This is his actual PB ten years later. It's not even my fault.


• If your character was close with Ty at Gooseberry, he definitely tried to stay in contact.


• Ty and Quinn got married a couple of years ago (at ~26 or so). It was just an excuse for a Big Party, really. While they both want kids, they're not ready for that just yet.


• Being a squirrel is still the best.


• Missy has passed on by now. :'( But Quinn did let Ty get a dog (a pomeranian) that he loves.

RAFAEL

[firstposition]

• Became an Auror in Mexico initially, because there was a concern that working in the US would harm his chances at getting into Mexican politics later. Except it turns out that Rafael didn't want to really be a politician, and didn't want the spotlight.


• He and Leo broke up when they were around ~21 when their careers took them in different directions. Rafael tried dating [VOLUNTEER?] for about 6-8 months, but he just ended up quietly comparing them to Leo constantly, and wasn't a very good boyfriend. That ended, and he got back together with Leo.


• Currently employed by the MACUSA. Works and lives in LA with Leo!


• His relationship with Ricardo has improved greatly. They're pretty close now, and talk regularly. Ric even likes Leo, even if he's a little hard on him. When Leo and Rafael broke up, Ric was pretty dramatic about it and acted like Leo was a MONSTER who'd BROKEN RAFAEL'S HEART and it took him a while to warm up to Leo again. He's a successful actor!


• He proposed to Leo before the reunion, and they plan on telling their friends then.


• Rafael's a huge patron of the arts, particularly the local ballet. He goes to all of their performances, and continues to dance on his own.


• OTHER STUFF BUT I GOTTA GO I HAVE BEEN HOGGING A WHOLE BOOTH TO MYSELF AT THIS COFFEE SHOP FOR 4 HOURS THEY'RE GONNA KILL ME.

XAVIER

A.K.A: The Adventures of Xavier Lewis Basically Becomes a McElroy.
A.K.A 2: I have too many feelings about my beloved poptart sandwich I apologize for all of this.

Career

After high school, Xavier gets an offer from one of the folks who sat in on his senior project presentation and lands a job as an intern in the Transfig dept at a hoity toity NYC magic university. Mostly his job is to get coffee, file paperwork and make sure Wizard MATLAB does not crash. There's a lot of free time and this is his first introduction to desktop computing, and it kind of snowballs very rapidly from there. He also works in a wizard food truck to keep the money flowing.

By winter semester, Xavier has enrolled at the university and is pursuing a Transfig degree. After that, he jumps straight into Masters in the same field, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Because Xavier also ends up falling in the deepest internet k-hole. He just starts throwing shit up online because he thinks it's funny and has all this boring downtime while interning. Fake, themed instagram accounts, weird webpages, joke twitter accounts, that kind of thing. Eventually he starts a food blog about all the food trucks in NYC, nomaj and wizard. It ends up becoming kind of popular in a Weird Internet way. He may or may not get investigated to see if he's violating the statute of secrecy, but he never publicly admits that anything is magical so he's safe. He winds up with something of a cult following. Pretty soon he's a lite flavor Internet Personality.

MEANWHILE, Mercy, Lewis & the News may be happening, too? AN ADVICE/CURRENT EVENT SHOW ON WIZARD RADIO.

Xavier basically spends his twenties doing Magic Math and making podcasts and humorous web content about his myriad interests. He launches an unimaginable shitload of projects and a few of them really stick. Before long, he's got a sustainable income just based on all the dumbass stuff he's publishing to the internet. I imagine the two big things here are Mercy, Lewis & the News and probably some humor/Transfig/Math/STEM Advocacy-related podcast.

He finishes his Masters and is like "LOL whoops, guess I have that now," but actually just ... makes his living based on ad revenue and t-shirt sales.

Personal

If they are still together (and I hope they are ;n;), I'd like to think that Xavier probably asked Reid to marry him sometime in their mid-twenties (25 - 26). If Reid somehow wanted to ask earlier, Zav would've totally gone in for it, because he's crazy about him. But Zav's only point of reference for marriage is his mom and dad so it takes him some time to warm up to the prospect, on his own.

He (1) Wants to take Reid's last name; this is pretty important to him. (2) Wants at least one kid...DO THEY HAVE A KID(s)?

Still estranged from mom and dad, but his relationship with his sister is stronger than it's ever been.

Xavier keeps in touch with his closest high school friends. He likes to get together with people, always has group texts going and is generally very invested in all of his friends' careers and successes and shows up whenever someone has a Showing or Concert or Talk or whatever.

I hope he still goes to reenactments with Ravi :C

I actually think Zav...does not want to live in the city. He probably wants to live somewhere with trees and water and hills. Depending on what Reid does, he'd be flexible with living anywhere, though.

CECIL PLOTTING

Specifics may be added as Ali and I continue to discuss, but...

• Shortly after graduation, Cecil and Levi visited Northern Ireland so Levi could officially try out for the Ballycastle Bats, a Quidditch team whose scout had shown interest in him during the game against Hogwarts. Levi received an official offer and, deciding that he could work and go to culinary school anywhere, Cecil moved there with him shortly after turning eighteen to the surprise of...pretty much everyone (except for Diego, who he'd already told about the possibility). The relocation came with highs and lows at first but worked out well for both boys in the end.


• Cecil worked in a bakery and attended a culinary school (that I may or may not name) which taught both traditional and magical cooking techniques and incorporated potions and spellwork into cuisine. It was a busy, exhausting schedule but also very rewarding. His senior project was a large part of what got him into the program and selling the potion/the process off to the owners of Honeydukes helped to pay for school and provide him with a nice little nest egg at the start of his adult life.


• Cecil and Levi got married within two years of graduating from Gooseberry Alternative High School (specifics to be determined) and, while most people probably agreed that this was happening way too fast all of their friends and family were invited. Hopefully, Diego came because Cecil absolutely wanted him as a best man. They're both hopeless and romantic and the fact that this didn't blow up in their faces is a miracle.


• Cecil continued to work in one bakery or another for several years after finishing culinary school. He'd like to have his own bakery/confectionary/cute lil' tea shop someday, but that's for the future in his mind. A 'once the kids are older and we're very financially secure' kind of plan. This is relevant because...


• Within the last year, Cecil and Levi adopted their first child! This prompted Cecil to set aside his career and he's currently a stay-at-home dad and he could not be happier about that. Ali and I are still discussing the specifics of this, but the lil' one will likely be making a cameo at the reunion. Because she's adorable and perfect (according to her proud papas) and you all need to see her.


• While they've lived in a few different places across the UK, Cecil and Levi currently live in the English countryside not far from the coast. They've got a modest, well-kept house and a lil' baby and several dogs. It's pretty picturesque. There are also bees which are less picturesque but make Cecil very happy.


• Cecil will drink now. But just a little. He's still a total lightweight in terms of alcohol.

I went short hair instead of chinstrap. Hopefully this makes him look a little older, at least! :x

PLOTS WITH ROBIN

HERE THIS IS THE EASIEST ONE:

Robin busts his ass through Auror training and scrapes by the entire time. He's always on the verge of being kicked out or flunking, but someone there thinks he's funny as fuck or admires his gumption or just knows his dad and he always miraculously skates through.

By now he has his actual dream job though, which means they shoved him in a closet somewhere and went "look! You have your own office!!" and it's like... look he's basically Wizard Mulder doing Magic X-Files shit.

If Tess isn't his Wizard Scully I am burning this epilogue to the ground.

Robin and Chris don't even have to live together, Robin has hillbilly gold, but they just got an apartment together and never bothered to move out. They probably keep tricking it out more and more. Robin just got his collectibles/conspiracy room just the way he likes it.

He's a bad influence on Chris' kid.

Can you imagine the terrible blogs he runs and newsletters he distributes by now? Aw man, everyone who was ever told they were getting signed up for newsletters....... look out I'm so sorry.

Oh he definitely has some kind of very visible injury, like a massive burn or an eyepatch or something, and if it's ever brought up he will claim he has no clue what you're talking about. It might have even been a Big Thing where he was like... simultaneously given some medal for bravery and disciplined for stupidity.

But he's 6'0" now look at how tall he got y'all.

I have a hard time picturing Isaiah as an Actual Adult Human Being so this is all kinda vague/half-assed/stuff I'm not married to, but:

He's teaching (slash assistant-professoring) at WADA these days. Composition and Sound Design. He's less piano-obsessed, more in tune (HA! PUN!) with the magical side of music. And he harbors a 'secret' ambition to come back to Gooseberry if Thrussel ever retires despite the far-less-prestigious nature of the job. By 'secret' I mean that all of the Ribbongents/other close Gooseberry friends know it. But pretend you don't. He's kind of embarrassed by it.

Tried to make long-distance 'what the fuck are we even' thing work with Jacob. Probably didn't manage it. In fact I don't think he figured out how to not kind of suck at being in a relationship until ~25 or so.

Which means that he's probably in a relationship with someone none of you have met.

Unless Manx wants me to take any of that back, because I will.

Ravi and Zav are still two of his best friends, right? Right.

• surprise: enrolled in a wizarding university right out of gooseberry for Charms, but drops out halfway through freshman year (it's very dramatic) to join a dance company, waitress, and perform in various weird small-time NY plays. she spends a few years involved in a lot of projects and kind of flitting around/traveling/living that performer life ETC while dodging her father's various frustrations. there are many bizarre roles under her belt from this time. probably a lot of weird in-costume photographs were sent to friends with zero actual explanation in the accompanying letter/email.


• at 25 laurel writes, directs, and acts in a play of her own, Saturn Ringing, about ... a girl trapped in an alternate expanse of time, slowly coming to terms w the fact that her physical body is dying and everything she sees is a final dream. it has a short run and gains some publicity/popularity for being incredibly weird and a little pretentious, but visually interesting and sort of meta. she would have invited like EVERYONE SHE KNOWS to this, so if you were in her life even vaguely you received word.


• after the success of Saturn Ringing, laurel starts doing more directing and choreography work for various companies/projects. she gains some fame/notoriety in certain artsy circles. she briefly returns to school for Costume Design, but drops out of that program too.
  
  
• about a year and a half before the reunion, laurel was contacted for a role in an independent film called Penelope by someone she worked with in the past. she took it for the hell of it, but... this film blew up unexpectedly upon release. it was everywhere. laurel had been interested in doing more choreography and writing, but now her career is going in another direction, at least for the moment. she has an agent and has signed on to a couple of larger film projects.

• continues to be a codependent weirdo. her homebase is always where ivy is. they share an apartment still, though laurel isn't always there.
