SUMMER PLOTTING POST & Y2 ANNOUNCEMENTS

As of tomorrow, you can start posting your own IC/OOCs, summer journal entries, memes, etc. This is a place where you can talk amongst yourselves about what you want to do, and what your character's going to be up to.

We also want to share with you our up-to-date, post-endgame timeline. We're pushing back the reunion IC/OOC in order to give everyone a week to breathe, but we're also going to give you an extra 10 days to play your seniors to make up for the delay. ♥

TIMELINE:

• July 9th: "Where are they now?" Meme for the graduated seniors. This is to make sure we're all on the same page for...


• July 14th: The Ten Year Reunion IC/OOC. This will be an IC/OOC post for all of your seniors to reunite as adults at Gooseberry. This IC/OOC is for only seniors and people seniors are dating/married to.


• July 20th: By now we will have gotten back to you about TAs and Club Presidents.


• August 1: The game will go dark. The IC comm will be locked to new posts, but there will still be an OOC chatter post. The IC explanation is that this happens to the journals every year so that Martin Pratt can install updates to the system. You're still welcome to backtag, however.
  • Applications for returning characters will open. Please update your applications and resubmit them. If you do not, we will assume they're not returning for Year 2, and will remove them from the cast list. You have until September 1.
  
  
  • We'll have an example of a new character and an updated character available for you to glance at and get an idea about what we expect from the new application form.


• August 10th: Senior journals will be removed from the game. Please keep in mind this means you will not be able to backtag posts on gooseberryhigh anymore.


• August 12th: We will allow players who have expressed interest in picking up a Quidditch player but do not currently have one to hold a Quidditch playing character early.


• August 13th: We will release a preview of the new cast list to the game at large. This is so that you can all talk about what you want and not accidentally snipe one another.


• August 15th: Holds open. Please be courteous to your fellow players. You may only hold one character at a time, and may only hold a second name after September 1.
  • Exception: if you will have no characters or only one character at the time of holds opening, you may ask us permission to hold two.
  
  
  • 5th Characters: If your new hold will be your 5th character, you still need to write a petition.
  
  
  • Pre-opening holds will last until September 1.
  
  
  • If you snipe a name one of your fellows was talking about seriously wanting, we will think you're very rude. :(


• August 16th: There will be a mass introductions post to use for all incoming characters.


• August 20th: Veritaserum Meme. This will be a new, strictly non-canon meme for fun and voice testing!


• August 31th: The September plot calendar will be posted.


• September 1: Year 2 officially begins! Students' journals will reactivate, and there will be a IC/OOC for the bus ride and arrival at school!

WHAT'S CHANGING IN YEAR 2:

• Brother is now the dominant power in the forest.


• The Grotto will become temporarily accessible to adults in emergencies. If any violence is committed there, or if someone is in great enough distress, it will be simple for staff to find. Adults may also request access to the Grotto. Brother will make these decisions at his discretion.


• The Anonymous Post will only happen once every other month.


• You can only sign up a maximum of three characters for Spin the Bottle/Seven Minutes in Heaven. This is so that we don’t have to spend hours strategizing around making sure a) your characters get to kiss new people, and b) your characters don’t end up kissing one another. Please only sign up your characters if you can commit to responding at least a little to the people you were paired up with.


• You may not play two characters in the same year/house, even if they’re in different cabins. For example, you can’t play a sophomore Ribbonfin boy and a sophomore Ribbonfin girl simultaneously.


• If you drop a character, you must wait one month before picking up a new one.


• You may play up to two Quidditch players and one reserve player at the same time.


• No character squatting. We don’t mean to call anyone out, but this is a busy game with limited space, and it’s just not fair to let people sit on characters that they’re inactive with. We’d like to avoid increasing AC requirements, since that would only punish people who are trucking along just fine. HOWEVER, if we feel as though you have been neglecting a character for 2+ months, we will contact you to discuss whether or not you want to hold onto them. If you do, you will have one month to improve your activity with that character. This goes doubly for anyone who is playing 3+ characters. Please be a courteous player and drop characters that you are unable to be active with, and do not apply for more characters than you can handle. Other people could be enjoying those spots on this very small cast list. :(
