END GAME PLOT PLANNING

Hi guys, this post is going to be vague on details, but we're putting together the climax of the game, and need an idea of what kind of numbers we're going to be dealing with.

The June plot will sort all characters into three ominous categories: rescuers, victims, and non-participants. There are special criteria for the groups, but here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Rescuers will have more to do. These are active, puzzle-solving roles that will interact a lot with the metaplot. They should be characters who are looking forward to adulthood or leaving, or who have relatively little angst. You may only have two rescuers max, because it'll be easier for us to run the metaplot with a limited cast. It'll also ensure that your rescuers get all the needed attention from you, the player.


• Victims will be targeted based on their reluctance to grow up, face the future or leave school. They'll play a more passive role, but there will be something for them to do. You can have as many victims as you like.


• We advise that you coordinate with other players to split up couples, friends and siblings for maximum drama. Depending how fast the rescuers work, there is a chance that a victim may join the rescuers' side of the plot, but don't count on it.


• Non-participants will just sit out the event. They will not be played at all that week. If you have a character you simply will not be active with, please don't feel afraid to have them be a non-participant. If you do not sign up your character, they will be assumed to be a non-participant.


• We want to cater to everyone's needs while still being loyal to the metaplot and the motivations of the forest entities. Please keep the personality criteria in mind while making your decisions. However, we ultimately recommend that you choose at least one of your favourites as a rescuer, as they'll be the most active.


• Other things to keep in mind: only rescuers will be granted access to the journals that week, although given the nature of the event, there probably won't be a lot of fun shitposting. Being a rescuer or victim will likely be a traumatic experience, so if that is going to seriously affect your character's decision to return for Year Two, don't be afraid to make them a non-participant. Also, THIS NOTE about rescuers.

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Although ordinarily Calvin likes to think of himself as a mini-adult, and he honestly wants to grow up and be seen as mature... he's seriously upset about leaving Gooseberry now, and the future scares him. Also, like, I've been accidentally red herring threatening Calvin all year, Damon deserves this validation and his big hero moment.
If they are a victim, who would you want to rescue them?: Big brother Dimi. :')

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Even with all the haunted forest bullshit, Gooseberry is his refuge. He hates going home for breaks. He's juuust starting to realize he has no idea what to do about the future.

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Leo has spent all year wanting to rescue people, and would absolutely spring at the opportunity to save people from the forest, so. It is probably a good idea to let him do this officially. He probably wouldn't rest otherwise. He's a level headed and relatively knowledgeable addition.
Also, just to make sure I hit the personality bit: he wants to leave school so badly. Even though he's a little scared to leave Rafael (who he'll probably follow anyway), and his friends (who he'll stalk through letters/physically anyway), he knows that he will flourish more out of school. And while he's had some angst this year, his high school experience has a nice little bow on it, as far as he's concerned. He's accomplished what he set out to, and it's time to move on.

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Reid... is not afraid of growing up. Honestly he doesn't think about it that much. The only time he felt ANY anxiety about The Future was when he learned Xavier was getting kicked out of his house. Sometimes he's worried about his scholarship or his sadder friends, but I don't think the forest entity has found Reid interesting even once during his stay at Gooseberry.

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Rafael wants to get AWAY FROM THIS SHITTY HAUNTED PLACE as soon as possible, but he's also had a very rough year with significant periods of misery and angst. Going home also means saying goodbye to Leo and his friends, and his home life is complicated and sometimes intense. He wants to leave in theory, but he feels like he's going to be losing a lot.

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Sorry but she's ready to be an adult and be her own person and not look back at any of you. Okay maybe some people. But yeah she'd be a rescuer. Also forcing her to rescue people and think of actually being compassionate and doing the right thing instead of protecting her own neck could be good because ~development~

Mackenzie Prince

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Kenzie's making the most of her wayward teen years, but... she's pretty at ease with the idea of growing up. She's known since she was little that one day she will need to be a very responsible businesswoman and stop fucking around.

Micah St. Clair

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Micah's a pretty cheery kid, but a lot of that cheeriness comes from resolutely denying reality and compartmentalizing all the things which cause him sadness. He's not really dealing with growing up in a healthy way. ok he makes a better rescuer than victim but WHATEVER i justified it!!!!
If they are a victim, who would you want to rescue them?: Hazel pls. and ZACH if zach is with hazel. i mean chances are anyone with hazel will be micah's friend so ;o;

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Ulysses is very much caught in the liminal space of adolescence. He sees himself as fundamentally different from how he was when he was a kid, and yet, he can't quite make the transition to adulthood, no matter how hard he tries. He doesn't want to leave school, doesn't want Cricket to graduate, and doesn't feel ready to leave childish things behind, despite his frequent protests to the contrary.
If they are a victim, who would you want to rescue them?: Expert investigators Krum & Prince. And/or any of the surviving Ebonboys?

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: Jade hates the idea of going home, because she doesn't have a home to go to, really. This is a natural choice. She will also marry the forest monster.

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: After all the spookiness of the seance, Zach is feeling a little down in the dumps about his ability to help and protect his crew, but that won't stop him from trying even HARDER this time, especially if any of his friends are at risk. He's a pretty mature kid, all in all. Time for some heroic action!!!! It's a lot trickier in real life than it is in books.

Why do you think they'd be suited to it?: "NO NEED FOR ESSAYS"?!?! WELL FINE THEN. All she's worked toward since she arrived as a wee freshie has been to leave for the big wide world and become a Healer. Sure, she's got a couple points of anxiety about what if I fail HARD, but they're overridden by the fact that she's finally headed to training and out of these gd woods. And besides, her friends are in touble—she'll burn down the forest if she has to.

Diego will be a victim. I've already talked this out with Marin! Maybe Essie can save him you're up for it Manx??? ;A;
Rafael depends on what Lyss is doing with Leo! Rafael has angst so I can justify him getting victimized, but he also really wants to get out of here ASAP.
Calvin depends on what Jenny is doing with Damon! He definitely does not want to leave school anymore, though.
Reid depends on what Jenny is doing with Xavier! He's my most likely to be a rescuer based on personality. He just doesn't worry about that shit.
Kenzie I DON'T KNOW. I'll have to probably justify her as a victim unless someone really wants her to be a hero.
Neil was baaaasically designed to be a victim of this event so I don't have to worry about my newest son even though I love him.
