PREPARING FOR IJ'S (HOPEFUL) RETURN

Alright, everyone, with the (hopeful) return of IJ on the horizon, here are a few announcements:

• This fresh OOC post is dedicated to Cameron.


• Tomorrow, regardless of whether or not the site is up, we will be posting a list of the major events and IC/OOCs that are scheduled in March.
  • If we do get IJ back, we'll be posting the plot calendar at 11:00 AM tomorrow morning. This will save poor Marin from staying up until 3 AM formatting it.
• Regarding the IC explanation for the downtime: With the Grotto party having taken place tonight (3/3/17) with characters referencing no access to the journal network, if the network comes up tonight treat it as though characters woke up on Saturday morning with functional journals.


• If IJ does not come back tonight, we might be looking at an IJ-less weekend. The Quidditch game post will be posted here on DW on Sunday, and Saturday we might cave and make a Veritaserum meme.

meaghan, i am supposed to be working, but here's some logistics things on what it would take to move the game over:

— Unfortunately, IJ needs to get back into working order for me to import all of our posts/comments back over. Until it does and DW will turn on the import function again, we're SOL when it comes to any posts/comments from 2+ weeks ago.

— When import is working, you will be able to port over your all journal's posts and icons/keywords with a few clicks. Unfortunately, you will not be able to import over all your icons if you have more than 15, but...

— You get 100 icons with a paid account. There's about 4 months guaranteed left in the game, which comes out to $12 per account. My friends, I am poor as fuck too, but this might be an amount I'm willing to shell out for my children. Also, you get the icon browser back!!!!

— DW uses OpenID, and one of the really neat things about that is, once IJ is working again, you can link your old imported comments to your current DW account. Icon should relink if the keywords are the same between both accounts. You can see how it works here, as I did it for goosemods several weeks back.

you BET i kept a screenshots folder of Notable Numbers. among them: 27272, 27773 (titled 27773 THE WORST.png), 32323, and 34143.

we'll find out next week that my massive notifs number was what broke IJ.

AND it's not giving me any notifs for currently-tracked things. like the new OOC post. no email notifs, no message centre notifs. :( the number is Stale.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about DW on the aesthetic front or the limited icon front, but if that's what people prefer to do I'm game. Though, hopefully, IJ will be stable for a while after all this work. I'll definitely be remaking my boring journal names if we move, though. These silly ones make it so much slower to hop back and forth. XD I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU ALL DO IT.

OH AND THAT there's a plugin that might help! (dreamwidth and IJ are both options in it.)

YOU ARE NOT BORING!!! i hope you don't encounter whatever issue it was again. :( i only found out about the plugin a few weeks ago (thanks alex~) but it's been working seamlessly and has been sooooo helpful.

I did! Buuuut they're all pretty unappealing. The only one that has the menu on the left side (which I like) is one of the worst too, unfortunately.

BUT. Like I said, if people prefer DW I'll roll with it.
