Oh hey friends.

I am back, back again, with my fourth and therefore (boo) last. This is Saira Raza (yes, I picked the character whose name is almost identical to my own JUST TO MAKE EVERYONE'S LIFE HARD,) Coppertale junior girl and ultimate studyholic. Her short description is 'Gooseberry's answer to Hermione Granger, now with more studying' and that basically sums it up. She's taking nine classes and is also on Event Commitee. She isn't your typical brash-and-bossy Coppertale, if only because growing up with the mother she has means that she learned to get her way more subtly most of the time (but she usually does get her way. She'd call it 'sly,' but what she actually is, is manipulative as hell.) She spends MOST of her time on school work and making sure she is THE BEST STUDENT and ALWAYS FLAWLESS because she has spent the majority of her life trying to prove that she's just as good as her two brothers, and to do so she actually has to be like ten times better than them for her parents to notice. Her twin did NOT get into Gooseberry, and her mom would still say he's the jewel of the family, so there you go. Her older brother Kazim IS here, hint hint hint.

Saira wants to be a Healer, specifically a mind Healer, hence the Occlumency, and her senior project is (unofficially, but it's what she's already working on) going to be Legilimency.

For reference, her family is Muslim and she does wear a hijab, idk if that will ever come up ICly but not every single one of the icons I have for her reflects this (most do, but there are few enough of Golshifteh Farahani without ruling out ones where you can see her hair completely) so I just wanted to state that whether it's apparent in the icon or not, she does.

AAAAAAAAAAH SHE IS IN OCCLUMENCY WITH DOM! Though he wants to be an Auror rather than a mind healer. He admires her smarts even if she's epic intense.

Oooh, dude, I just had a thought. Saira wants to be a mind healer and Tabitha's senior project is based on the principles of magical art therapy. Could be something there?

Ooh yes. I wonder if the teachers would have, like, pointed them at each other as ~students with similar interests?~

Tabs doesn't take Occlumency as a class, but maybe Lilywhite might have let her sit in on a class or two for research purposes?

i vote YES. and Saira is definitely a *raises hand to EVERY QUESTION* kind of girl, especially in occlumency, so. let's just say tab would have noticed her.

Tabitha, as someone who lacks belief in her own intelligence, is definitely a LISTEN TO WHAT THE SMART KIDS HAVE TO SAY kind of gal. So hopefully Saira would respect that at least XD

She'd have to cope with being wrong given that he breezes through the Auror requisite classes, but never mind ;)

I remember someone (maybe Levi?) teasing in an Azurcrest thread about how someone should snog Ree before her and Dom make it official. Might have been the anon post? Dom saw that and was a bit "huh, is that what she wants or are people teasing her?"

LOL that WAS the anon post and then Riley went and found her aaaaand some drunken shenanigans happened in the party thread (they mostly involved them falling down on the balcony and kissing. SORRY, DOM, SHE DID NOT MEAN TO INVITE YOU TO A PARTY AND MAKE OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE but Riley fell on her face.)

If he actually asked her that she'd answer him honestly, so there's that?

but no for what it's worth she also wouldn't have done that if dom was still around at that point, since you weren't really in the thread i figured that happened pretty late and she would not have like, clung onto dom the whole time regardless, she wanted him to come to the party to hang out with her but also to just come to the party because she thinks he's cool and azurcrest parties are fun and cool people should come to them regardless of her, if that makes sense?

Oh don't worry, I get that part! I just totally miss out on some of these big event threads. Stupid timezones :(

I know, they often happen on the weekend when I really cannot participate because of Having A Family, so I feel you.

Okay, so.

Rafael and Saira maybe are study buddies? And by that I mean they probably pull all nighters and obsessively compare notes. He's also got a severe, competitive streak, so they can push one another. He's got a warm heart and good sense of humor, though, and will be a steady, level headed friend for Saira. Plus gentle teasing. ♥ OH, and his project also involves Legilimency! He's working on creating a new spell that enchants gloves to follow nuanced orders, even when the verbal orders are vague/unclear. Results are hilariously mixed.

Diego is probably another useless prettyboy to her, haha. Talented musician, but nary a single logical thought going on in that head. He's not as dumb as he acts but he's still no genius, and is obscenely easy to manipulate with a little attention.

Reid is in her year and house yay! Uh, he's used to all the intensity in Coppertale, and he'll let Saira boss him around 90% of the time. He's good at transfiguration, flying, and virtually nothing else.

Calvin and Saira are in event committee! He's also a really driven academic who gets super competitive, but unlike Saira he's got a more "work smart, not hard" tactic to school. Which is to stay he studies his teacher's habits and styles as much the material so he never wastes time memorizing anything that he doesn't need to know. This is working for him so far.

Yessss all the things with Rafael. I agree with all of that, basically.

Yeah she dismisses Diego out of hand, esp. after the rumors. USELESS.

Poor Reid. She will help him study if he likes but I BET he will like it about as much as Harry liked it when Hermione did it.

I imagine last year he was really resistant and it was a battle of the wills. Buuuuut he almost lost his scholarship, and this year might come crawling back to her about uh so hey remember when you said you'd help me study........ The fact she ever tried at all ensures he really does like Saira a lot.

I mean, she would have tried for like a session or two and then been like "I am only trying to help you, if you don't want my help have fun failing," and gotten back to her own studying, but if he came back this year she'd be very forgiving, because the mere IMPLICATION that she was right all along would give her so much happiness.

lauuuurel is in event committee w saira, so they DEFINITELY interact at least weekly, and are completely different people, sooo -- there's that. she can also empathize w having a twin who your parents maybe think is more successful in some ways, though i doubt she'd want to talk v much about it, soooooo IDK

So Katya is in Occulumency with her but the over perfect gotta study thing is way out of her idea of fun. Still doesn't mean they can't be friendly even if Katya is like woah girl slow the fuck down with this class stuff. Gonna kill yourself.

Trixie is a year above and might drive her a little crazy but it's Trixie, she doesn't exactly get on anyone's nerves too much.

Ferris is just grumpy.

Oooo I think she and Quinn would get along real well! I see many hijinks-free study dates, and they're on Event Committee together. Quinn's also probably going to be semi-secretly competitive toward Saira because of her marks and Healer ambitions but it's all in good fun... right?

Kurt's in her year and some classes but I'm not really sure how much they would chat outside of Kurt endlessly and pointlessly supporting everybody's lives through the journals.

I could be persuaded to possibly make the older brother my 4 (if I can have one). If you help pimp Vee'a younger sister for me! (And if you helped me think of a PB, of course) As for my kids:

Vee would like her, though they are similar enough with their studious natures to maybe have a little bit of competition going on too? Vee is way too social to be outright jealous but she would be inwardly envious and holding herself to Saira's standards. Still, she needs more nerd friends!

Ryan finds overly studious people both intimidating and ridiculous. However, he is a natural at learning and would like not to fail so he doesn't laugh it off completely. Maybe she could help him with stuff or has helped in the past? He was a bit behind despite Chris' dad'a tutoring so there are likely subjects he still doesn't know well.

Susana is in her house just a year below. She gets what it's like to always be in the siblings shadows (though nobody in her family paid her enough mind to actively compare them) She's a bit prickly but a good girl at heart. Her obsession with Quidditch makes her vastly different than Saira but she wouldn't be mean exactly.

Ahhhh okay, idk how much overlap my two would have with her since they're in different houses and years, but Henrietta thinks she's way too intense and Pippa might have told her how pretty her headscarf is.
