Um hi. I have no idea what I'm doing. Literally, this site and mechanics are so foreign to me the entirety of this process has been punctuated with intense internal screaming. I apologize if I still don't get everything right because of the learning curve.

Anyway, as it says on the tin, I'm Isaiah. I actually live in Alabama. I've been playing around with wanting to write about where I grew up and live for the past few stories I've written, and with how many rednecks we have around here that end up in engineering in one way or another, it felt pretty inspiring to write a wizard who wanted to try and science out magic. I'm a dog groomer, and I'm in school to be a graphic designer. I have an inordinate amount of pets. I was encouraged to join this group even though it's ending soon so I could get to know everyone and apply to the next big thing. I love chatting on discord and tumblr. I have no idea what gtalk or aim are.

ahh, fresh blood! welcome, isaiah. my name's cameron and first off, i totally get how overwhelming this site and this game (in particular) can be. if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask either via email or in one of my character's dropboxes. although fyi, i live across the pond in the GMT, so my timezones are a lil fucky.

basil seems adorable, lol. i'm trying to think about what interactions he'd have with my many, many characters. i have six (6!!), rip rip rip. most relevant areeeee:

1. marie patterson (prophesie): is a coppertale sophomore and melodramatic disaster child. marie is a social butterfly like basil is, but he might find her a little overwhelming, because she's someone who's always at "11" — high energy, passionate, loud, ridiculous, over-the-top. she has savant-like talent for music (singing and composition) and she's in a band, although she prefers to squander her energy on her interest de jour instead of what she's actually good at.

2. tobias rush (norush): is a ribbonfin sophomore and a Simple Boy with the body of a 30 year old linebacker and a brain like an empty field. he's got a golden retriever personality — helpful, eager to please, happy, etc. he can be found on the quidditch pitch or in the cafeteria and is prone to dispensing questionable "wisdom" about the merits of sandwich meats. he's inoffensive, unless you have a low tolerance for idiocy, in which case he's very offensive, lol. gosh, my sophs are bad.

3. zachary zheng (readingrainbows): is also an azurcrest, but he's a junior. zach is a prefect, so he's probably known to basil. he's a big fat nerd with a bigger heart. library denizen who always has candy in his pockets and time for someone in need. very protective of his baby birds!!! and prone to feeling overwhelmed by responsibility and lying face down in the dirt. he's also a notorious noodleboy who is nega-athletic despite being high energy. please don't ask him to run!!!

and my other three are less relevant, tbh? this is cassius holcomb, a coppertale junior and prefect with a notoriously... libertarian attitude towards prefecting ("if you want to die, that's your prerogative"). cash is very smart, very controlled, possibly evil, and also, sometimes he turns into a bird.

jonah pitchford (exacerbation) is a ribbonfin junior with a hairless cat, a foul mouth, and Bad Attitude that covers up his secret softie bullshit. ulysses quayle (ulixes) is an ebonhide senior, one of the ebonhide quidditch captains, and an inexplicably popular spoiled brat with too many feelings, more money than sense, and less southern charm than he thinks. basil probably knows Of him, at least.

I am back from work and many pups have been petted in your name and stress-screamed into for my own sanity. With that out of the way, let me see if I can't figure this shit out.

Marie Patterson
Positive: Marie is as much as if not more the social butterfly as Basil. She's likely one of the first few students outside of Azurecrest and the professors to have met Basil, and he would've jived with her dramatics immediately, if only because it meant he could watch how other people interact with her and how he might be judged. Her eleven and his nine means that they're at a constant twenty. Whether that's good or not for everyone around him... well, they certainly bring the energy into whatever it is. Basil would've cottoned onto her music-making pretty quickly as he's an awful but enthusiastic lyricist and singer, and he would try to rope her into singing with him.
Neutral: Marie is perhaps a little too performative for Basil, and unfortunately, his first impression of her hasn't changed terribly much since their first meeting. He's annoyed by her current fascination with Divination, figuring it to be fairly useless in the face of Science and Math, and her ability to flit from one idea to the next is confounding at best and aggravating at worst.

Honestly, for Marie I could see both these holding true. Where Basil doesn't mind spending time with her in class or at club, but he's baffled at how flighty and dramatic she appears to be, wondering why his genuine self might not be accepted when this performative girl is.

Tobias Rush
Neutral: Jesus loving Christ, is this what a crush is because Basil's not had a for-real crush since middle school and this golden boy hits the aesthetic pretty hard. Fortunately, Basil's got more of a head about him than his mun, and he is quick to learn that Tobias isn't his type at all. Got the looks, but not the brains or, to be frank, the meanness that really makes a boy's heart go doki doki. Still, Basil definitely has a soft spot for an inoffensively nice boy, and he is more than eager to see if Tobias would like to start an informal running club with him. If he could get enough people, maybe it could eve be a legit thing by his senior year!

Tobias fits Basil's aesthetic requirements to smooch to a T, so it's no surprise he'd get a crush, even if he ended up outright disliking the boy later. Basil can be pretty perceptive when something's bugging a person, so Tobias's concerns over dropping out to take care of family is definitely something Basil would pick up on, if only because he's taken to staring at the back of his head during Potions (it is so boring to Basil). He'd definitely offer to be an open ear if Tobe's ever wanted to talk.

Zachary Zheng
There is only one reality for Zachary, and that he has unintentionally gotten himself a duckling (despite them being blue jays). Being one of the more outwardly nice prefects thus far, and with his ability to make History of Magic interesting, Zachary has set the standards for Basil as an Azurecrest student. Too bad he still can't find both his shoes. Basil talks to him, a lot, and he's always moving, always bouncing or skipping or doing something Zach probably finds exhausting to watch. Zach probably gets the feeling of getting overwhelmed a bit better than most, and he's in a better position to help his junior figure out where things lie. And in return, Basil tries to not be too annoying and to remember his tie for class.

I just feel that Basil would end up looking up to Zachary a lot, especially fascinated at how someone could make History of Magic actually interesting to him. Zach probably knows a lot of ways to make tutoring fun, so with Basil playing catch up in wizarding world ettiquete department, it's a good thing there's an older prefect who can kindly show him some of the ropes.

Cassius Holcomb
A very confusing young man to Basil. He steers himself away from him out of a fear of him being like the bullies that tormented him in middle and high school. Kind of sucks because they'd probably really enjoy breaking spells down to their base components and puzzling things out together (this is Basil's basis for his character, so he is Very Good at it), and Cash probably has a better idea than most about getting ostracized for LGBT issues.

My brain is starting to flag, but I know Jonah's bad attitude would be an initial warning flag to Basil, so they probably don't interact much. As for Ulysses, all I can imagine is Ulysses introducing himself, expecting the Southern boy to know his family name, and then be surprised when Basil is just like "cool bye senior I'mma go make friends now". Grandma Underhill never did believe in sequestering one's self to a city just for wizards, thought it close-minded. Therefore, before he moved to Gooseberry, Basil didn't realize those sort of cities existed lol.

— re marie: i think both these things can be true, certainly. marie is flighty and ott and confounding at BEST, lol, but also she can be fun. so i think it makes sense to say that she and basil can party down together on occasion, esp when it comes to music, but also that he finds her baffling.

— oh nooooo rip basil re: CRUSH CITY. i hope, for his sake, he ends up realising that toby is a dumbass quick. still, he'd definitely be down to hang out with basil, so running club is definitely a go.

— that's............... extremely fair, basil, bc cash is bad. maybe someday they'll be forced to interact for some reason, and they'll overcome first impressions, but i think it makes sense that basil would be skittish around cash bc honestly, cash is a judgmental SOB.

and i have to say, i'm sure ulysses' jaw DROPPED the first time he talked to basil and he realised that he genuinely didn't recognise his fam, lmao. he's so used to quayle being something of a household name, especially in the wizard south. so that was probably amusing :')

corrigan bailey (byebyebirdies) is an ebonhide in basil's year! they share 3 classes! she was a ~child star~ pre-gooseberry in a nickelodeon-style TV show where she and her sisters played a band. gb is her way of staking out her own identity and pursuing her passion (her parents think it's music, she KNOWS it's quidditch.) she's sassy and feels like she has a lot to prove. i think she likes basil a lot! she's a little feisty but thinks the sophs are the best people on earth, and offers to murder upperclassmen for them constantly.

casey patterson (sunsoutgunsout) is a senior copperale and cheer captain. he's a bro, reformed bully, meathead, and dumbass rolled into a vain and promiscuous dance machine. that being said, he's honestly trying to do his best and emulate the seniors he respected liked last year, just... he does so poorly. he's like a dog that's trying hard to be good but doesn't really know how. he's on event committee with basil! people often find him both exasperating and exhausting, so ymmv depending on how they get along. :3

casey is the only senior with a key to the dance studio. he opens it early in the mornings to teach barre classes to any interested students, which is something basil was (and is) welcome to join if he's interested! it's like an unofficial club. he's also offered to (and has) teach more than a few sophomores to lift weights and/or dance this year. i'm not sure why. i think he wants a Legacy.

kurt wolfhart (puphart) is a senior ribbonfin, a new prefect, and the magizoology TA! last year he had a self-improvement project (NEW KURT™) where he began as a shy and timid dude with a stutter and ended a slightly more confident dude with a stutter and one (1) detention under his belt. he's crazy about animals of all types and is here for the drama program. he's in both boating and OE with basil. he's very sweet, sensitive, and caring to the MAX. he attends the sophomore and junior potions classes (he only began tot take it this year and is trying to catch up) which means kurt is... actually kind of a classmate, too!

also he has a niffler familiar named newt. newt is fairly well-trained but still sometimes pilfers things. kurt is very sorry about that but promises to work on newt's "manners."

Thank you! Honestly, that's like half of the ones I have too. Some of them I didn't want to post because faces or they were repeats of others.

Corrigan and Basil I feel would both definitely get along. Especially because she's a step ahead of him in the whole getting used to being immersed in the magical world. Basil would certainly recognize her - his fascination with music despite being so terrible at it means any kid's show where the protagonists were singers got eaten up by him - and he'd be awestruck for a little while. Mostly shocked because Corrigan is a witch? He'd always assumed the magical world was as isolated as how his Grandma Underhill made them out to be. But luckily, he's not one to be phased by social rank for too long, unless the other person enforces it.

Casey is an enigma to Basil, if only because he does things that would be social suicide in the muggle world. And yet here he's treated just the same? Also, yes, give this child strength training and dance lessons because even though he grew up in the wedding world, he was never taught to dance because it was "too cute" when he was young and now he tends to run stuff behind the scenes. This is funny because now there are two older students Basil could potentially get a crush on aesthetically, but their personalities clash with his so hard. Casey's open emotions would scare him, especially if Casey ever got mad at him as it would put him back to where he was in high school, getting bullied mercilessly because he dared to be different in a backwards town. He'd try to stay on Casey's good side/limit interaction... but then the weight lifting. Maybe that'd be something to use so Basil would learn Casey isn't all bad.

Kurt turns into a dog. Basil is scared of dogs. Shenanigans ensue. Okay, no, really, Kurt seems like a very sweet dude and a perfect ice breaking moment would be Newt taking off with something Basil's been pulling apart, so Basil has to hunt him down and get his gadgetry back lol. Basil is fairly indifferent to scared of most animals, but especially dogs, so that would be an ordeal for him to go through lol.

Hiiii!! My name is Alex and I also have six characters and oh boy I'm sorry about the amount of reading you're going to have to do, because there are a lot of us here. But lemme try and get through them fast!!

- Dinah Dixon (dinahdanger) is a Coppertale sophomore! She's A Lot (a trait you'll find in several sophomores), and draws her very own comic book that is more or less self-insert friend fiction. She thinks she's a superhero vigilante, but she's really just weird.

- Austin McNamara (soundscaped) is an Ebonhide junior and not the most relevant but I was excited because he's also from Alabama. He's a whiny music boy from Muscle Shoals who likes being barefoot and playing Wonderwall at parties.

- Georgiana Mills (wholegrain) is a Coppertale senior & prefect, hippie girl, who's decided she's basically adopted Basil's roommate Griffin and might try to adopt him too. Georgie's very sweet but also kind of a total weirdo.

- Jefferson Key (racingstripe) is an Azurcrest junior and total sweetheart. He's an athlete, captain of the school quidditch team, and he's STOKED ON LIFE. He almost definitely thinks Basil is GREAT. He thinks a lot of people are GREAT but that doesn't diminish how GREAT you are bro!!!

- Riley Stamper (riledup) is an Azurcrest senior and a trash girl. She likes to party, she's a spoiled snot, she mostly wants attention and cannot be bothered to remember people's names. Otherwise known as my most perfect child.

Aaaand finally Rosemary Stoker (browbeats) is a Ribbonfin senior & prefect, she's strict, sarcastic, very tightly wound and protective.

I tried to organize them in the order of who was most relevant but it's early and I'm on my way to work and boy howdy does my brain not turn on some days. But WELCOME!!! You're One of Us now.

As an aside, Dinah is absolutely me in high school, writing friend-insert comics. I wish I had kept them all. It was like 40 pages of weird.

Dinah could go either way on a flip of a coin. On the one hand, she is very loud, very confident, and very herself, things Basil had learned not to be fairly recently into his school career. He could easily admire her for not folding under peer pressure like he did. But that admiration could also turn into resentment quickly if it's not checked. Why does Dinah get away with so much? Is it because she's a girl? If he was a girl, maybe no one would care about how he acted.

Regardless, I think he'd stray more towards the positive. There's a lot of students who are very open about themselves at Gooseberry, so it's going to be a positive influence on him.

Jesus Christ help me the storm of the century. I was born right after that in Maryland. Also it seems that Alabama is going to have a stereotype of barefoot boys here.

Georgie, being Griffin's adopted mother, Basil will definitely see around and completely agrees that he's a Total Weirdo. He's not totally unfamiliar with her sort, being her type seem to really enjoy his moms' barn as a venue, saying that it has a lot of positive energy in the old timbers. And here Georgie is with actual magic to back up her ethereal nature. She seems like the sort of person that'd be easy to talk to. Perhaps not get any advice the science-oriented nerd would know how to implement, but advice nonetheless.

Jeffy - Basil has definitely tried to rope him into a running club. Basil really wants to make a running club.

Riley got mentioned in the journal thing I made yesterday! Basil is going to seek her out to see if she knows how to charm bedazzler rhinestones into constantly reflecting light. Eclectic senses of style really appeal to the inner flower child he pretends he is not, and one day he will transcend the tshirts and ratty jeans and take on a higher form of presumably mispaired patterns and fabrics, and people like Riley are definite influencers.

Rosemary is in hermeticism and throws 110% of herself into everything? It's a good thing Basil's a sophomore or else they'd be rivals in the classroom. As it is, he's trying to not so subtly learn what happens in the higher level classes so he can practice on his own too. So she probably sees him lingering in the classroom, hoping to learn more. Might've seen an explosion or two from him attempting to reconstruct a spell into something new.

I'm Mel, and I have three, unlike some of these overachievers around here:

Juniper Crane, junipercrane: First off, Junie definitely adores this kid. He's in her House and her year, and anyone who is that intellectually inclined is 100% up her alley. She's got shades of mean girl, but she's still very outgoing and friendly, just hasn't gelled with a lot of people outside of her Coppertale gang, Miguel and Quentin. She's a Sherlock Holmes fan, into dueling and fencing, and is also a big time runner (although she hates pretty much all other sports). She'd love to have him as a running partner or study partner or whatever!

Teddy Butterfield, butterbear: Teddy is an Ebonhide junior, so they don't have a lot of overlap, but they are on the Event Committee together. Teddy is a very laid back, dry-humored Boston boy, hangs mostly with his best friend Max and his girlfriend Issy, and is into herbology and art. He's a very chill person to talk to, and definitely parents a few sophs here and there if you need a big softie to talk to.

Gwen Popplestone, gwenniepop: Gwen is a Ribbonfin senior, and president of Equestrian Club, which she is always trying to get more people to join. She's a bit naive, but she's a sweetie. She's devoted to Artificing and hangs out with her Ribbonfin friends, like her bestie Calvin, and her boyfriend Webster (who is an Azurcrest!). She hates the water, though. They probably know each other from OE and Equestrian crossover events, and from Artificing.

I'm happy to make up some backstory for anyone, feel free to pick from the apps!

To start off with, I love Juniper already from the little bit of interacting these two have done. Basil didn't even get a mean girl vibe from her, even if that may be his density to when people are trying to be sarcastic or pointed through text. Maybe she can teach him not to constantly lose pieces of his uniform so he actually looks decent when talking to her lol.

Basil has gotten overwhelmed more than once while at Gooseberry, and he's probably had a few breakdowns that other students have seen. Teddy's got a big weight on his shoulders that he's trying to ignore, and I can imagine he'd be able to relate at least a little to trying to change against your family's wishes (in Basil's case, him going more into the magical world and possibly devoting his life to magic instead of just seeing it as a gardening tool or whatever). Other than that, I don't see them interacting too terribly much outside of usual club stuff or if Basil needs someone to vent to.

Gwen probably doesn't see too much of Basil at all. He's not interested in horse riding when his own two legs get him going, and he's probably best remembered as that boy who couldn't stay in the saddle during crossovers.

HI ISAIAH! Welcome! It's so exciting to have someone new join. Like Cameron said, don't feel bad if you need to ask a bunch of questions. I've been in this game over a year and I still don't know what I'm doing half the time. Anyway, I'm Meg and I have just two characters in the game right now. I'm really bad at descriptions, forgive me.

Sofia Delgado, she's at this journal name. She's a senior Azurcrest and sort of a reformed mean girl. Sort of. She's ready to graduate ans get the hell out of Gooseberry, so her patience is being tested. She normally doesn't pay attention to the younger kids, but Azurcrests tend to be the exception. She'll probably try to con him into voting for her for prom queen. Oh, she's also dating phin, who she's like super grossly in love with.

Grace Sowerberry (asparrow). She's a sophomore Ribbonfin, prefect, and cheerleader. Usually she's pretty lenient about getting people in trouble unless they're doing something particularly bad. She's trying to be less uptight in general, she wants to be FUN and a normal girl. She basically intimidates everyone cause she's A+++ in martial arts and could seriously kill someone, not that she'd actually do it. Probably. Her mom is former CIA and she kinda wants to follow in her footsteps or become an auror, which she's been pretty seriously focusing on until recently. Now she's letting loose at parties and making out with everyone during spin the bottle. SHE HAS SOME PENT UP ISSUES.

Griffin Flowers cosmonot is most relevant because Basil and Griffin are ROOMIES! Griffin is from an isolated wizard community in Amish country, so he has very little knowledge of muggle stuff, but he's also obsessed with space and enjoys physics and math. He is very spacy, aggressively lazy and a big weirdo. He was Azurcrest's quidditch keeper this year. The running gag is that he is in love with Linus, the cabin's prefect, who is an NPC name. I feel like Basil and Griffin have enough interests in common that they will get along fairly well?

Nisha Lewis godzillabutworse is next most relevant. She is a Coppertale sophomore, quidditch hotshot and general agent of chaos. She is intense, but friendly and mostly just a gigantic weirdo with a lot of really bad ideas.

Antonia Papadakis heyitsnia is the head girl, a senior in Ebonhide. She's a big personality and a goofball.

Lucas Kowalski bubblewrapped an Azurcrest junior is the Charms TA. He's a pastel goth. Super awkward but trying his best to be better.

There's also Yancey Montgomery hotdish a senior Ribbonfin who is the president of LARP club and Danny Notoriano graysanatomyforkids who is an asshole.

Avery Davenport (this journal) is in OE (the club) with Basil. She's a senior, Captain of Ribbonfin Quidditch team, and never swears. She's usually very nice and doesn't like to make waves or break rules.

Oscar Zabinsky over at dumb_ass is in Azurcrest with Basil. He's a senior, a goofball dummy, and a reserve on the Quidditch team. He's generally nice to everyone.

Samantha at oh_girl is a junior Azurcrest. She used to be in Boating but quit after almost dying last year in the lake but she's also in Event Committee and so they'd know each other in passing. She's not quite as nice as my other characters whoops

Concordia Knight at cheer_leader is my sophomore and likely most relevant? She's in a couple classes with Basil and also in OE with him. She's a Coppertale and a cheerleader. She's constant pep and energy and internal life struggles. She's not 100% at English and likes to feed the school food because she's obsessed with cooking. He's probably gained a few pounds because of her :D?

I also play Isabelle Sargent (ebonhide JR) and Salem Wagonblast (Ribbonfin JR and Prefect) but neither are particularly relevant. I look forward to playing with you!

HELLO AND WELCOME!!! I'm Marin, one of the mods here. It's okay if you have questions! The mod dropbox is always open to questions of any type. Sometimes you can get an answer much quicker if you try our ooc chatter posts (#13 is the most recent one) which a lot of players have tracked.

(To track a post so you get notifications of every comment that's posted, just find the icons on top and click "Track This" at the end. You may also want to track when "Someone posts a new entry" to gooseberryhigh and goose_ooc, just so you can see whenever something new is posted. We've slowed down a bit this month but we still average 5-10 new IC posts per day.)

We've been active for two years so we have a lot of weird lore and in-jokes. If you're curious or confused about anything, please please please just ask. UMM I'm going to give you some Journal RP 101 since you told us you've never done journal RP before. In terms of dipping your feet in, you can just comment on any open journal post, i.e. like this one, posted this morning by fellow sophomore Dinah. This one (from Balthazar, also a soph) has an open message on top, and three wards (i.e. private messages) below, so you can respond to that top message if you want!

Other types of posts are Notes/Owls/Gifts, basically our catch-all for letters/presents/weird posters posted around the school. Logs are prose scenes (often written separately on Google Docs), but the majority of our prose writing occurs in IC/OOCs, event posts which several characters can post to, to write a scene or play RNG games. Unless written otherwise in the description, IC/OOCs are generally open-to-all.

Archimedes Rose (cherubic, soph Ebonhide) is probably most relevant to Basil. Where Basil loves chemistry, Archie loves potions, but he's fascinated by Basil's work and would love to bother him about it. Archie's an eccentric, cloistered pureblood whose parents are in the middle of a messy custody battle. He's soft spoken, but also infamous for being behind about 5 mass poisonings at the school (Amortentia, Veritaserum, etc.) and he's frankly lucky he hasn't been expelled. He's a sweet-faced force of chaos, often following around a gaggle of louder sophomore girls.

Ophelia Noggins (useyournoggin, jr Ebonhide) is the veeeeeeery aggressive and overbearing president of Outdoor Exploration, and she's always on her club to get!!! out!!! there!!! She's very emotional, assertive, and a bit of a basketcase, but she's an aspiring Auror with the grades to back it up. She likes to pick on meek boys in the name of "helping" them, but Basil seems like he can probably at least fake standing up to her. She'll be very fond of him, I think, especially since he's so into running. ATHLETICS ARE IMPORTANT, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

Mackenzie Prince (princeprincess, senior Azurcrest) is one of Basil's senior prefects! Mackenzie is a Mean Girl™, but she knows how to play within the rules. She's got a robust, but not very nice sense of humor, and she's a popular cheerleader. This year she's made some nice friends and is dating nice(ish) boy so she's less of a bully than she once was, and looks out for Azurcrest with a laid back attitude. The cool mom prefect to Reece's stern overprotective dad.

The others are less relevant buuuuuut... Calvin Evercreech (user name="evercreep">, jr Ribbonfin), a mostly reformed Slytherin bully from Hogwarts. He's not picking on people anymore, but he's very sour and sharp. He's not very social so Basil might not cross paths with him often. Reid Wainwright (cygninae, sr Coppertale) who's a gifted Seeker and well-meaning prefect who is.... horribly, horribly awkward. He often passes as an Ice Prince, but he's really inarticulate and struggles with communication. Spends a lot of time as a swan, bit of an asshole, bit of a sweetheart. Spencer Sweet (bitterlysweet, jr Coppertale) LOUD ROWDY BOY. Spencer's FRIENDLY and CONFIDENT. He acts like a tough guy, all leather jackets and eyeliner, but he's big-hearted and as anxious as he is arrogant. He's an aspiring figure skater, and has an eidetic memory that contributes to why he's so intense.

Ok I'm a bit too braindead to actually write anything super coherent, but I actually fell in love with Archie's name when I was looking over the student roster and was a little sad when it was taken. So, of course I read the profile attached to get an idea of who this character was and also how do I fill out my application (I also did this with a few others like Marie and Griffin lol).

And I feel like his application influenced me a bit more than I initially imagined because on a reread, Archie is exactly the personality type that Basil would become annoyingly friendly to, even after Archie's gotten over his curiousity of Basil.

Ok that barely makes any sense but in fairness, I've been reading a lot of profiles today. oxo

Definitely fair. We've got a really "what happens happens" approach to romance/shipping here. Like, obviously a lot of us are very into it, but it's definitely not needed to enjoy the game. Archie's just got a notable preoccupation with ~romance~. Basil can complain to Balthazar and Hero about Archie's nosiness.

I do like shipping, a lot. Archie's on par with one of my OC muses for romantic nerd, complete with mild obsessing, romance novels and movies, and maybe a touch of stalking thrown in there.

Except that I will now help your head explode, because I too have six. V sorry. In a Rough Order to how relevant they may be to sweet Basil:

Chad Winterbottom, Coppertale Sophomore lives at winterbottom.
He's my unapologetic comic relief boy. He was very bullied at his old school and continues to be kind of bullied here. But that's okay, because he actively invites negative attention. He's easy to rile and talks back Loudly. Also, last week he tried to ask a ghost to prom. LUCKILY, Chad quiets down around people who aren't trying to get a rise out of him, and he's a very loyal friend. If he learned about Basil's bullied past, he'd probably offer to punch someone. (He looks like he's twelve, so it's not a very good offer.)

Tuesday North, Ebonhide Sophomore is at tues and was the seeker on the Quidditch team this year. She's ALSO the seeker on the school team, who are going to Hogwarts next month. She's a very good athlete who does broom rodeos in her spare time. She vacillates WILDLY between pretending she's uber confident to freaking out anytime she's nervous. It's uncomfortable. She gains more power and confidence in groups though and so Basil might see THAT side, and she'll speak to him.

Adeline Foster-Hayes, Azurcrest Senior is at addytives. She's a very typical party girl airhead who just happens to also be a potions prodigy, and the potion teacher's assistant. She owns a developing business selling mostly hangover cures here at school. Addy's very friendly, outgoing, warm, and has a soft spot for all baby Azurcrests. She'd probably rib Basil (gently) about potions being cool, but would be very interested in his chemistry!

Jade Otterwell, Azurcrest Junior is at odder. She's Azurcrest's answer to lite goth and talks about death and murder...a whole lot, and I apologize for her in advance. She's a pureblood who moved from country to country before coming to Gooseberry, where she's found a home that she's really quite frighteningly loyal to. She teases a LOT but just ignore her, she's a nerd, and she has a place in her dead, dead heart for Azurcrests.

Ferdie Ayers, Ribbonfin Senior is your head boy and at ferdie. His mother was a disgraced former reporter, and he's formerly sheltered. However, this year, he's mostly worried about everyone making it through the year unscathed. He proobably tried to be welcoming to Basil but was also worried about everyone following the buddy system so they don't die. (No one has died yet.)

Ira Ashworth, Coppertale Junior is this one! He's a healer wannabe with a 4.0 who looks like his stuff is way more together than it is. He could talk his way out of probably any situation, but shouldn't be allowed to try. He also has two moms so if that similarity ever came up, he'd at LEAST high-five.

Most relevant is this jerk, Rupert Wick (somethingwick_ed) - sophomore Ribbonfin prefect, drama queen who loves Shakespeare, has lots of opinions about things, especially fashion. He likes to tell people what to do and is offended, like, all the time. Apologies in advance, he's not super nice?? They'll cross paths in class.

Phoebe Maycott (opuntia) senior Ebonhide prefect, small plant girl that doesn't really like people. She's the Herbology TA! She's awkward but tries, and at least tries to keep people from dying. Also from the south (Mississippi).

Eileen Coffin (foxpaws) senior Coppertale, Transfig TA, not a nice person really? She's just kind of snotty. They have boating together, and she's generally nice enough despite being a twit.

Hazel Keating (lilwitchhazel), junior Coppertale, cheerleader, trying to save the world. She's a Pre-Healer kiddo, from Texas, and picks on people lovingly. They've got Outdoor Exploration together.

BUT! I do have one Azurcrest, the senior prefect, Reece. He seems like the most likely candidate to know Basil. Last year, he was a very laid back prefect, but this year he's been a little stricter while he tries to keep all the Azurkids safe. He's mostly just a big nerd.

She's pretty bossy and likes to stick her nose in all the sophomores' business, so I'm sure she's bugged Basil before. Building off what you already replied to Cam with, Marie is her best friend, and Toby... she has a weird relationship with Toby. She feels very protective of him, but she also treats him a little bit like her pet puppy. She may try to set him and Basil up if she ever detected any hints of crush.

Balthazar Doyle (this guy!) you've already met and maybe have a decent idea of. He's a flighty, overconfident, carefree boy that likes to drift through life and pretend he doesn't care about much of anything. He's also an absurd flirt that's very open to fooling around but will flee from any notion of romantic entanglement. His family is wealthy and known for making beautiful, charmed jewelry and he's also adept at this. He's an Ebonhide sophomore and he's in Event Committee with Basil!

I'm very sorry he was my first character to interact with yours because he's a shitheel. :')

Lachlan Galbraith (lachlangalbraith) is a senior and a fellow-Azurcrest. He's Muggleborn and also attended a Muggle school as a kid prior to going to Hogwarts and he's got a lot of the same scientific interest that Basil does. Though he's most passionate about MATH. Lachlan's a nerd that struggles with anxiety and craves approval from teachers and other authority figures to validate himself. And he watches birds in his spare time. He's also the Hermeticism teaching assistant, so he'll appreciate Basil's interest in the class! Short summary: fellow-nerd, fellow-bird.

All of my others are less-directly related to your boy, but....

Cole Moss (colemoss) is a Ribbonfin junior and an artistic space cadet that is infuriatingly gifted when it comes to magic without much effort. He's sweet but oblivious and too literal for his own good. He's an Animagus and can turn into a golden orb weaver spider~

Heathcliff Lacey (heathclifflacey) is a Coppertale junior and a big dumb jock with surprising divination talents and an even more surprising green thumb. He makes his own teas and uses them for tasseomancy. He's a Chaser for the Quidditch team and generally a good guy, but he tends to roughhouse too much and he says 'dude' A LOT.

Casper Kim (casperkim) is an Ebonhide senior, a prefect, and a Beater on the Quidditch team. He's also a Parselmouth. He's a prickly, aggressive person but can generally be counted on to do the right thing and look out for other members of his house (particularly his roommates). He's in Boating Club with Basil but likely doesn't interact with him much. He's also the teaching assistant for Defense Against the Dark Arts and has plans to become an Auror.

Sandy Owsley (sandyowsley) is a Ribbonfin senior and a mellow, easygoing New Agey-type that's all about treating his body like a template and taking care of others. He wants to be a healer and he collects rocks with ~good energy~. He was a Quidditch reserve this year. It took him four years to get a reserve spot because...he's just not that good. But he enjoyed the experience! He's also the president of the Boating Club!
