hey girl heyyyyyy

OH HELLO.

Madeline here and I'm back from hiatus! Italy was amazing but I am soooo looking forward to just chilling out with my puppies and not needing to be a translator/guide/bodyguard for my mother, while I try not to miss espresso and good pesto and fresh porcini mushrooms too much. (OH YEAH, FRESH PORCINI MUSHROOMS ON EVERYTHING. HEAVEN ON EARTH. /chef nerd time over.)

That being said, I have a ton to catch up on, a lot of intros I missed, and a new boy to bring to you all! Because I was a jerk and apped him before I left. . .ANYWAYS.

SO. [insanejournal.com profile] paytee, call him Wes: Coppertale Senior, lanky Cajun boy from the swamps, formerly of St. Cyprian's before coming to Gooseberry because the kid is damn good at Potions. He's in music and drama and some other extracurriculars and clubs also, including outdoor exploration, but if there's an opportunity to show off he's there.

• Grew up in south Louisiana in a strong Cajun community. Speaks Cajun French and is all drawls and swagger and cockiness and flirtation. I apologize ahead of time.
• Had to leave his home after Hurricane Katrina leveled his family's farm, doesn't speak of this a lot, maybe only to close friends. Because traumatic life experiences are not cute, he would say.
• Learned to bounce back and cruise by on his wits and flattery, is a lover and not a fighter, and loves being the center of attention.
• Crazy good at Potions, especially healing remedies.
• ALSO. He is in the works to becoming a Cajun traiteur, or a folk/faith healer, which means one day in the far off future he will be able to heal with his hands. Passed down from his grandmother. What this means is right now he can't actually heal anything with his bare hands, but he can repair broken material objects if his hands are on it and not use his wand, and he can also detect pain in the body. It's baby steps, he's got a long ways to go.
• Not your average Coppertale in that he isn't always outspoken and bossy, but instead he really, really loves saying "I done told you so."
• So cocky, knows he's a big deal, needs to get over himself.

So for him - everything! Friends, people he judges ("bless your heart" is a favorite thing of his to say), flings and exes he still acts flirtatious as hell around, you name it!

Now that you've got Wes I'll also give you a refresher of my two other kids, because I missed a looooot with them too.

First up Sybilla Borgin - [insanejournal.com profile] sibyls, goes by Sylla, Ebonhide junior and Hogwarts exchange student, where she was a Slytherin.

• Her parents are the Borgin & Burke of the nefarious shop in Knockturn Alley. Shady power couple, 8 creepy children with only one of them being a son, basically they're the Victoria and Albert of the dark arts, and Sylla is their Disney princess if Guillermo Del Toro directed a princess movie.
• Northern English, so her accent is a bit muddy and not as cut-glass posh as one would expect.
• Withheld perfectionist, holds herself to way too high of a standard.
• Loves loves LOVES dueling, watching violent sports matches, wearing black and accessorizing with morbid jewelry.
• in animagus training and comes to Senior sessions too. Stressed out about what her form will be.
• basically an exercise in duality. You can't have dark without light, balance in all things, mastering each side of being a wizard, etc.
• Polite and sweet and dainty at first glance, but duels like a champ and lights a room up when you get her on a tangent about bloody myths and violent Shakespeare tragedies and is a little bent and twisty when you get to know her.

And lastly Holden Bright! [insanejournal.com profile] blinkah, Ribbonfin junior, Seeker on the Quidditch team, pretty much the only reason he is even here at Gooseberry.

•from Dorchester, south Boston, basically raised muggle with a divorced wizard dad who is a magical literature scholar.
• hates confrontation, actually an ostrich when it comes to drama, tries to solve problems and ends up making them worse or throwing himself under the bus.
• hates being the center of attention away from the Quidditch pitch, because at least there he can zone out and do his own thing.
• follower to an extreme, just wants everyone to be happy, no backbone to speak of.
• loves weird animal facts, has an often-escaping turtle named Ted Williams. It's a female turtle. He didn't correct the mistake.

So yeah it's 5 AM and I'm jet lagged so I probably missed some stuff, tl;dr hit me up with plot for my new boy and my old ones and it's good to be back here!

Oh hi there handsome. ;)

I'm on my phone but HAD to comment on the lovely. Also! I just apped a boy from Dorchester! (In reference to Holden now lol)

Vee here will be friendly with Wes as she is with everyone. Ngl, she prolly had/has a crush at one point.
Ana is a young prickly thing so probably won't have much interaction. :( But I'm up for random!

I'll do Sylla and Holden when I have a computer! :)

YAY WES, I'm also going to have a roommate for you soon BUT I'M SLOW AND LAZY so let's just talk about my current losers.

He and Diego have known one another for a loooong time, actually? They both went to St. Cyprian together, and now Gooseberry obviously! Diego and Wes have a shared love of music, and I was thinking (since Diego's band is full), maybe he and Wes can have a little side project they work on together? They both like blues rock, so it could be the genre they play together. And besides all that, I think Diego and Wes will probably get along swimmingly. They're both fun loving flatters who don't want to fight. His cockiness will be a good counterpoint to Diego's ridiculous insecurity.

Reid's a year below him, and is probably kind of fascinated by the traiteur thing. If Wes is friendly, then Reid probably likes him quite a bit.

Calvin mostly knows him as that really hot senior with the accent he kind of has a hard time with but sounds really great anyway.

So Wes and Anuhea are both Seniors. They are pretty different but I am open for anything. She is quiet and bit serious. Quidditch Chaser and Ribbonfin. She also pretty serious about school/transfiguration in particular.

Holden and Anuhea well they be friends! Plus haha kissed recently. But you know hey still quidditch bros.

Sybilla they have chatted a bit due to Animagus training.

[identity profile] alapai.insanejournal.com 2016-10-02 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That is kind of fine by Wes, but I feel when she does have those moments when she talks to him she is like why don't I do this more often?

Hey! I snuck in with Mina and Diego's little sister Essie recently and I have an unfilled storyline slot for her that I am looking for a 7th year boy for. No pressure to fill it, just giving a heads up!! OTHERWISE, this very silly girl would have attended St. Cyprian's with Wes for (I THINK) his 7th/8th grade years. And then shown up again at Gooseberry last year. (Even if he isn't the boy from last year, I can assure you she has heart eyes for him this year. Holden also gets some heart eyes to a lesser degree.)

Club wise, I think she overlaps with Sybilla in duelling/fencing and Wes in Outdoor Exploration.

Also, for your amusement: Wes, Holden.

Ohterwise, uhm, Ursula is Ursula. She doesn't have any direct overlap with Wes, but you know she pesters Holden and hopefully she will extend that to Sybilla soon too!!!! (And Wes?!?!)

I imagine he says I done told you so and bless your heart to Chris quite a bit. But since they share a cabin, Wes gets to see that Chris isn't always grumpy

And by he, I obviously mean Wes.

[personal profile] bambae 2016-10-02 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with this and Chris, despite his grumpiness doesn't really have the patience for grudges either, so they should get along great. Chris isn't as southern sweet tho, when he probably has a tendency to tell awesome to fuck off.

[identity profile] catseyenebula.insanejournal.com 2016-09-30 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You know Katya will at least be friendly. Trixie is also a Coppertale senior so I'm sure there is a lot of overlap there and he would have to be fully aware of the mad scientist lingering around in their house. Plus, they have a lot of overlap in clubs and things.

While you were away I also picked up Hayley Ferris [insanejournal.com profile] tinyrebel who is from Georgia living in West Virginia. She's pretty much a 'rebel' in her own mind who hates rules and likes to shoot things. Ferris is somehow amazingly good at violin so he would at the very least know her from her rants in music. She's a sophomore in Ebonhide who will like him simply because he's southern and she tends to at least like that sort of thing.

Alllso. I'll get back to you like Alex cause our characters are not at all related, at all. Nope.

[identity profile] notacad.insanejournal.com 2016-09-30 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi there! Wes is the only one my kiddos haven't met, I think.

Tabitha - same year, some classes.

Dominic - year below, same house!

Will - I got nothing.

[identity profile] caritasmitis.insanejournal.com 2016-10-02 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
Ha ha, the way she feels right now she'd let him, because CHEATERS DO NOT DESERVE THE BRO CODE.

Dom comes from a part of QC where even Québécois find the accent weird (oh boy do I have stories there, lol) so they can at the very least empathise over attitudes to non Eurooean French!

Yeahhhh Will's few memories of Louisiana are not happy ones, sadly. He's going to try and track down his bio parents the minute he turns 18 though, so it's a weird mix of curiosity and pain when it comes to the state. His dad was a wizard and his mother a muggle so he has no clue where to start!

[identity profile] reehobbs.insanejournal.com 2016-09-30 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh good, another victim for Regan's ongoing quest to make time with a senior.

[identity profile] valentinez.insanejournal.com 2016-09-30 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY i love the whole concept fr wes, it's very cool. c:

i feel like he and zoey would kinda vibe w the potions stuff, tho their personalities are super different. they have music in common too ♥

annnnnd laurel -- they're in drama together etc & i kind of feel like they might get along/she crushes on him a teeny bit!

[personal profile] addytives 2016-09-30 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Hiii! I still just have Addy, who would've probably hit on him at some point in her life back when she did that without shame. Ex fling possibly?! She ALSO is from the other coast of the South and would think Louisiana magic is so interesting if he ever talked about it, and she'd be friendly either way.
orangepip: (Default)

[personal profile] orangepip 2016-10-01 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
WELCOME BACK I'm glad you had an amazing time!! ♥

I don't think Pippa will have much overlap with Wes apart from them both being in Choir, but they might end up talking potions on the journals! She'd find the traiteur/healer stuff fascinating.

Henrietta will definitely get on well with Wes! Friends, y/y? But possibly also exes and/or random makeout buddies?? She finds his drawl/swagger/cockiness/flirtation v amusing and will love bantering with him. They also share a few classes plus Boating and Outdoor Exploration!
quinning: (Default)

[personal profile] quinning 2016-10-01 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Wes is super interesting! Kurt is probably at least a bit put off by his cockiness, but they're in Drama together so he probably had to buck up a couple of years ago and Just Deal With It. Deep down he's probably a little jealous of his swagger/confidence/accent/looks/etc.

As for Quinn,

- She and Wes are Seniors with healing aspirations! They share a lot of classes. She tends to see other seniors who want to be healers as academic rivals that she tries to out-do; if you're cool with Wes being officially a rival, then he probably gets asked a little too often how he did on that last assignment.
- As long as he isn't trying to waste her time, I think she admires his goal-oriented-ness because she's the same way, though taking a different route. She's probably pretty friendly towards him, and if they're actually friends, she def tries to dance with him a bunch at parties because yay~~~
- (She probably thinks he's pretty cute, too.)

She probably doesn't encounter Holden or Sylla much, though!

omg fuck me for doing this on my phone, I HAD A WHOLE THING FOR ROBIN WRITTEN UP AND THEN I ACCIDENTALLY REFRESHED. IT'LL BE SHORTER THIS TIME SRY.

ROBIN IS YOUR ROOMIE WES. He's an asshole nerd from West Virginia, and even though it almost seems like their personalities wouldn't mesh, I think the key is whether or not Wes takes Robin's assholery personally. Bc he doesn't usually take it personally when other people are dicks and thinks that's just how people talk to each other, THIS IS HOW COMMUNICATING WORKS RIGHT? HAHA FEELINGS ARE FOR THE WEAK~~~

Late to the party, but hi there Madeline! Sorry for the slow response. This weekend was a teeeeensy bit crazy and I'm just catching up. Anyway~ I currently have two characters to play with your lovelies.

Cecil Honeychurch: This guy. He's the Head Boy, an Azurcrest senior, and the most grounded person in his house. He's friendly and warm and gets roped into things more often than a Head Boy probably should (approving parties? what? no), but does still try to be a voice of reason and is the campus big brother. He doesn't have much overlap with yours sadly, different houses and no activities except for OE and Choir with Wes, but I'm sure they've crossed paths from time to time and I'm always open for random stuff!

Casper Kim: [insanejournal.com profile] casperkim. He's a surly, negative Parselmouth with a bad temper but enough restraint to take out his anger playing Quidditch, Dueling, and playing the drums. Instead of punching people or something. There were rumors that he was a Dark wizard during freshman year, which infuriated him because of his some personal Dark arts related tragedies, but that's mostly been forgotten. He's in the same house and grade as Sybilla and, depending on how well-known her Dark arts connections are, may treat her with some major suspicion/hostility. He's in Boating with Wes, Dueling with Sybilla, and plays (violent) Quidditch with Holden.

Welcome back! :)

Frankie's opinion that his voice sounds like honey tastes is already well-documented - so that's ... yeah, her social failure. She's probably friendly though!(Let's be real, it's definitely. She's way too freaking happy.) Even if listening to him probably makes her look like a cherry tomato sometimes.

Nia ([insanejournal.com profile] doused) probably rolls her eyes at him in a highly unimpressed manner a lot. But it's probably fond.
