Oooogh I am so sorry. Open floor office plans are an actual nightmare and I don't know why companies continue to use them despite multiple studies showing they destroy employee satisfaction jfc. I went from having my own office to having to sit in a bullpen with my coworkers and no cubicle walls between us and my productivity and overall happiness dropped like a fucking rock. Be prepared to come home way more zapped than you would be, normally, too.
Uuuuugh. :( I'm so sorry! And I know exactly why my company did it; they can fit 600 people in this building with an open floor plan and 200 people with cubicles. SO. Employee satisfaction doesn't really matter.
The silver lining is that they might give us three telecommuting days a week. At which point I'd probably have to stop complaining and just start being strategic about my meetings to minimize my time in the fray.
