Hazel Keating
Character Name: Hazel Keating
Darkest House: Ebonhide???
Darkest Concept: Joyless lycanthrope just wants everyone to go away.
When Did Everything Go Wrong?! Not long after Hazel and her parents moved back to the states to be with her recently werewolf'd uncle, tragedy struck - he ended up biting her and passing on his lycanthropy to his young niece.
What Is Their Darkest Life Like? After Hazel was bitten her family promptly fell apart, with her father angrily blaming her uncle completely and her mother doing the best she could to stand up for her brother. Hazel's uncle left on threat of being reported as a danger by Hazel's father, and now his whereabouts are unknown. Her parents have stayed together, but it's obviously just for her benefit - there's a very clear hostility between them. Much of her childhood was spent alone or with her parents, since they didn't want her playing with any other children. In fact, she spent much of her time indoors. Her parents managed to convince her to go to Gooseberry, though the constantly check in to make sure she's ok/she hasn't done anything wrong. Her focus on improving the wolfsbane potion is a near obsession; she spends as much time as she can in the potions room, desperately trying to improve its formulation.
Personality: Hazel is not happy or friendly - she's sullen, quiet, and generally antisocial. She almost never smiles. Her fear of attacking someone has made her carefully bottle up all of her feelings, leading them to eventually boil over. While she rarely physically lashes out she becomes verbally aggressive and goes for the figurative jugular. With parents constantly against one another and the absence of her uncle's mediating voice, Hazel has not learned to soften her assessments generally anyways, so she often comes across as harsh or belittling even when not in a rage. She pushes people away senselessly - the worst part is she's social at her core, so she's fighting very aggressively against her tendencies to find companionship which means she's just... a little more hostile than necessary to achieve solitude. She doesn't seem to really derive joy from anything. She really wants things to get better, but she has about zero optimism about it unless she can manage to do something to make her lycanthropy more manageable.
Social Circle: No one, if she can help it. She keeps everyone at arm's length, especially her cabinmates.
Distinguishing Features: PURPLE HAIR BECAUSE SHE'S SO INTENSE GUYS. A gnarly werewolf bite scar somewhere??
Anything Else? She probably does way better in school at least??? IDK how Gooseberry would handle a werewolf child but whatever darkest timeline.
